I was at the rematch and the general feeling among the crowd after the fight was Hopkins *****ed out with his constant flopping. The scores were ridiculous as most in the crowd were calling for at worst a draw.
Jones was supposed to be shot while Hopkins still had it supposedly....the reality however was Hopkins fought a dirty, boring fight because he was scared to death of losing to Roy again.
Jones has said in subsequent interviews that Hopkins basically fought like a chump and unless it was under another (promotional) banner he wouldn't be interested in dealing with the politics.
He won the 1st encounter which will hold any historical significance and the reality is even if they fought again today Hopkins wouldn't outshine him even though Roy isn't on anyone's top lists anymore.
For anyone who hasn't seen the infamous way Darius beat Rocco the first time, here it is:

What a joke that was! Truth be told, Darius should thank god his promoter kept him away from Roy.
Warren never wanted Joe to face (the tougher fight in) Roy.....as he stated, he would of opted for the (easier) plodding Pavlik. If you read the entire interview he also said that he didn't want to give Hopkins purse parity either! Translation.....Warren didn't want the fight, didn't care about legacy, he cared about making the most money he could from Joe....guess what Frank, Joe's tired of dancing on your strings. He claims Calzaghe stood to make more money with Pavlik? How? Even with purse parity, Roy's a much bigger name, HBO is backing this fight with a 24/7 series (they wouldn't have if it was Pavlik), and Joe doesn't have to split with Frank.
I wish the interviewer would've raked him through the coals and asked him why he sat on money (reportedly $4 million) from the Hopkins fight.
Roy was ducking Joe for all those years? Here's a quote from Joe in 2003:
"I'm a big Roy Jones fan and to be honest, he's the only guy in the world that I really don't want to fight. He seems to be the perfect fighter and you just can't hit the guy. Look at what Jones did to Richard Hall who then fights Dariuz Michaelczweski and bashes him up for 11 rounds. I like to watch Jones fight and see his moves. He carries an aura that he takes into the ring with him. It's 100 percent confidence and he knows he's going to win. You can tell that he doesn't take his talent for granted though because he obviously trains very hard and keeps in tremendous shape."
oh god....
:(
Must be camera angles because I watched the weigh-in and he looks in great shape. Check it out on youtube. I've met RJ....he has a small frame so at 200 lbs he'll look thick.
