Not sure if this has been posted already. Tua cites family issues for the pullout. As much as I like seeing the guy fight, this was a good decision anyway. With all the verbal jabs going back and forth between Freddie Roach and Cottos camp, the one that got my attention was Roach belittling Joe Santiago's training ability for the simple fact that he was never a boxer himself. It is true that the vast majority of trainers in the business have had some actual fighting experience. But there are a few exceptions. I guess Angel Dundee would've never gotten a job with Roach. Can anyone think of other successful trainers out there who were never boxers?

With his big fight this weekend, Tua probably has part of his mind on the death of Aunt and fellow Samoan people who have been devasated by an earthquake and Tsunami. It's apparently a big event in New Zealand. Most here are familiar with David Tua, a onetime contender for the Heavyweight title who lost to Lennox Lewis. Shane Cameron is won several fights against mostly fellow kiwi, Aussie and British boxers. He apparently has been calling out Tua for years and now Tua has obliged. The fight is basically for bragging rights in that region. Tua being trained by Roger Bloodworth is using this as a step back into the heavyweight ranks. The odds are that Tua will handle this fight without much trouble but if he somehow loses, his career is probably over.
