:boxing: I believe it was a very good fight, and possibly a chance for the fight of the year. I figured the winner would be the one with the chin & stamina (Margarito in this case). I've seen Cotto fade in some of his fights, and dont remember Margarito fade in any of his. Hope Cotto comes back. I've seen beatings like this ruin fighter...Gomez,Curry,Taylor,Davey Moore,Rosario,Lacey.
Vasquez vs. Marquez
:boxing: This will be a short fight, but a good one. Everyone knows what happens when you put 2 mexican fighters together at this weight and calliber. Marquez's only chance is to bust-up Vasquez, and stop him early. Otherwise Vasquez power will come in to play, like in the 2nd fight. A fighter only has 2, maybe 3 fights in them like what they gave us in 2. Vasquez has just a little more in the tank than Marquez.
I have a feeling tha Jermaine will win so I agree with Steward.
I think that an ass whipping lingers. Taylor has not forgot that. When a guy starts talking shit ,like Taylor did the other day, tells me he's allready scared. Manny 's right, Taylor was winning, but instead got knocked-out. So there's not gonna be much difference. Comming into the ring with a gorrila-face, and a bunch of leaches will not win him the fight either. I dont understand why theres a catch-weght? This is a Middleweight title fight. If they cant make weight, then they need to challenge for another title.
Take note boxing fans, welterweight sensation David Estrada (21-4,12KO’s), (WBC # 12, IBF # 14) is putting together all the right moves in 2008 in order to win that world championship title that has eluded him. As you know he has had hard fought battles with the divisions toughest and best in Shane Mosley 2005, Kermit Cintron 2006,and Andre Berto 2007. details]
Other than Cotto,I dont know who He's worked with. I hope he can take him to the next level. I know and hope that they dont try to change him totally, cause he needs to work on his defense and a little latteral movement. I think Buddy Mcgirt would of suited his style better, but David is a very determined guy,and should do well.
calzaghe should fight pavlik and then call it a career. that would put his record intact and undefeated. that is if he survive pavlik. a fight with pavlik is more exciting that a fight with dawson or tarver or johnson.
there is not much left in a boxer of 36. and to preserve that record, one last fight, hopefully for pavlik is enough. joe has nothing to prove, he already defeated the best in his time.
I agree. That would make an ok fight for Calzaghe, but can turn boring,as with Hopkins. My gripe about boxing lately is that you see guys like Hopkins ,DeLaHoya ,Trinidad,Roy Jones getting these PPV events and, have'nt earned thier shot. It reminds me of Sugar Ray Leonard, later in his career all of a sudden wanted to fight Marvin Hagler. Leonard just bought himself some meaningles titles. All he ever done was unified the welterweight title...that was it. Why dont these guys just retire,or stay retired,or fight some top contenders and work their way back.Fighting a bum doe'snt earn them anything as far as I'm concerned. That really diminishes their place in history, which is all they have later.
