Floyd did NOT win. I got this from the article if you guys read it. De La Hoya Was the Winner.
it probably was nothing more than seeing blue where there should have been red, but Golden Boy Promotions executive Richard Schaefer, who runs De La Hoya's company, introduced dark questions about the scorecards, anyway.
There was an error. Copies distributed to the media had De La Hoya in the blue corner and Mayweather in the red. In fact, it was reversed, with De La Hoya in the red and Mayweather in the blue.
Apparently, a mistake was made in how it was copied onto the sheets and not in how the judges scored.
"It's a disgrace to make an issue of this," said Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
It is, but there have been bigger ones in a sport that just would not be quite the same without disgrace.
Even Schaefer backed away from making serious allegations, although he did say Golden Boy's attorney would review the discrepancy.
"It seems like an honest mistake," said Schaefer, who would raise some real controversy if he attempted to overturn the decision. After all, he represents De La Hoya, whose company promoted the fight. There is a conflict of interest somewhere in that mix.
