I don't know how Arum got this idea, but he's a power in boxing so anything the old man says is possible. There's nothing money couldn't do in this crazy world of boxing!
Even if the writer had really said it, I would very much welcome those kind of comments. You see, it's those negative remarks that fire the Pacman up. He fights best when he's the underdog. Comments that challenge his skills are the best you can do for Pacquiao if you want him to be at his best. Put-downs will never put the guy down. It'll just motivate him to get better and prove his critics wrong. The last thing I ever want to see is an overconfident Pacquiao.
black jack
Jack mocks Pac saying Pac ducks blacks. That's a shock and it sucks, it's crap and smelly like Jack's pair o' socks. What Jack Shitt doesn't know is that Pac likes black ducks, preferably roasted. Speculation, speculations. The more you think about what you believe in, the more you believe it. And you gather what you think are facts that are tailor-made to support your convictions. And then you present it to the readers like it's error-proof. But the fact is, everyone's argument is as good as yours. After Pacman has made Mayweather pay for his foul-mouth, Black Jack would hide his coal face in humiliation. Don't quit your day job as a shrink, Jack.
Marquez is a good technician inside the ring, but he's not a big draw. His fight with Rocky Juarez attracted only 3,000 out of a 7,500-capacity venue. His biggest attendance was when he fought Manny Pacquiao. I think counter-punchers like Marquez are rather boring boxers. Only boxing purists like tacticians but purists alone don't fill seats, let alone the PPV buys. Marquez-Diaz should be an interesting fight and I think Diaz will win by decision.
Damn here we are again with " this guy is too big for that guy' b.s. People just couldn't learn. Why can't Cotto and Pacquiao fight? There's only one answer -- marketability. This is where promoters are good at. And Arum is no nuts to choose Cotto over Hatton or Mayweather Jr. If fighting Cotto can guarantee huge revenue, the people who run the show will always find a way to make it happen, you betcha.
who is he?
This guy Beard is talking crap about Pacquiao's flaws. Ring a bell? Same stuff Angelo Dundee was saying during the Dream Match era, until history proved him wrong. But Dundee, legendary as he is, somehow made sense in his observation; this guy Beard, with his vivid imagination and nonsense prediction, seems to be suffering from illusion and the attention-deficit syndrome. And, the scarce comments received by this article being a Pacquiao-Hatton thread is somewhat surprising. It only suggests that the majority, probably even the Brits themselves, don't have any idea who Lee Beard is. I guess nobody would want to waste time on a nobody.
The kid Chavez is taking it too personal and it might work against him if he gets to fight de la Hoya. Sure, Oskie isn't done yet. Bomber Manny Pacquiao was exceptionally brilliant that december night while all seemed to have gone wrong with de la Hoya coming up to the fight : wrong training, wrong trainer, wrong conditioning, wrong nutritionist, wrong battle plan, and wrong opponent. Oscar knew from the start that southpaws and smaller guys have given him the most trouble inside the ring. He could have been knocked out by little Forbes if the guy was a big hitter. Conversely, he was winning over biggie Hopkins on points when that fatal body punch caught his airbag. Former P4P king Mayweather kid didn't hurt him at all and could only come up with a split decision win over him. Against the kid Chavez, Oscar's experience will win the day. This time, he'll make sure he's chosen the right opponent. He's not that dumb, you know. And he's never going to fight at 147 again, ever.
Pacquiao fighting at 147 is a thing of the past. He did it one-time against de la Hoya because it was de la Hoya. Now it's time for him to win at 140 to complete the sweep. Then he can go out fulfilled unlike Mayweather Jr.
Hoya, Hatton in shock and awe
What happened to Hoya, happened to Hatton. Face to face with the Pacman, the display of blinding speed and awesome power just left them immobilized, shocked, and resigned. No further analysis is needed. This is it.
In boxing, you're only as good as your latest performance. Win today and you erase all the shames of yesterday. But on my card, unless you do it at least 3x in a row, you can't get my vote. Not taking anything away from Mosley, I think Margarito was beaten because of the differences in their stye. Margarito is a warrior, he always wants it toe to toe. Mosley, just like his comrade BHops is a tricky fighter. And he was extra fast and accurate that night. Obviously, he and papa coach got some tips from the Pacquiao-Roach battleplan against DLH. Papa Mosley admitted to this in one interview after the Dream Match. Although it may sound ridiculous at this stage, putting Mosley instead on top of the P4P list ahead of Pacquiao may do wonders. It might pave the way for a Sugar-Pacman showdown. Ain't that great? Of course, Pacquiao has to get past Hatton first. Forget Mayweather. He's afraid and he's not gonna come back, saying he's still numero uno and Pacquiao isn't good enough for him. Do you believe that chicken?
To the farter who said Pacquiao is running from Marquez, what has hit your head? Maybe Marquez gave Pacquiao some trouble at 126 and 130, but up at 135 - 147 he's gonna knock out that aging Mex within 2 rounds. Believe me. Pacquiao today is not the Pacquiao that Marquez had fought before. But to his luck, Pacquiao and Roach are considering him this time if he wins over cocky Junior. He's lucky because loads of fighters are waiting on the wings to get their turn and Marquez doesn't have to join the queue if he beats May Jr on July 18. I'm rooting for Marquez in this fight against Mayweather. The only reason why Manny isn't fighting Marquez is because Arum thinks Marquez makes no business sense. Manny isn't ducking him. He's just not in Manny's mind. He was given a chance to avenge his 3 knockdowns but he felt short and was even decked again in round 3. In close fights, it could go either way. And if it goes to the other side, then be man enough to accept it. Come on.
Pacquiao is the BEST !
Uhhh... the cocky balloon blew up! MAYWEATHER, READ THIS: MANNY PACQUIAO IS NOW THE BEST FIGHTER and the majority has catapulted him into that LEVEL. He never said it himself, coz he aint like you, babe. Fraud has had the answer to every question, and a vivid imagination. Talk is cheap, cracker. Let a fight either with Pacquiao or Mosley get on and prove you're not a talking pussy.
a strange premonition
When Marquez called Mayweather out, many thought he was delusional. They figured cocky Jr wouldn't fall for it. But not me. I knew that the Marquez comeon has provided Mayweather a portal for his re-entry. In Junior's mind, there's no way Marquez could beat him. I thought likewise. The aging Dinamita fits perfectly for a tune up fight. On the day of Pacquiao-Hatton showdown, Floyd Jr announced his return and a July 18 faceoff with Marquez was signed and sealed to be delivered. It was then that I had this strange premonition that the Mex would pull an upset and beat the very arrogant Mayweather! So, it had to be Pacquiao and Marquez who'd be slugging it out in the final chapter of a long story! Half the world's population would certainly disagree with this, but the remaining half who have long been waiting for that moment-of-truth between Pacquiao and Marquez would be ecstatic. Anyway it goes, boxing stands to gain. Marquez won't be off the hook for a long, long time. Even if he gets past through PBF, the Pacman is right there waiting for him. If he was to fight Pacquiao now, he'd be knocked out in less than 3 rounds. Make it today or tomorrow or next year, the outcome will stay the same -- Manny is going to eat Marquez alive for his dinner!
Barrera may have had the experience but he's very much a spent force. And if Khan is working with Roach and Pacquiao, he learns about speed and footwork. All this kid's got to do is to tire the old Mexican out. The only way Barrera can win is by using those shameful dirty tactics that already had become his trademark.
To Soupy Campbell,
Marquez is a slick boxer? Holy crap Campbell are you a boxer or what? Marquez is an excellent counterpuncher and he fights the same way that Mexicans fight. But slick? I guess not. Should he and Pacquiao fight tonight, I bet my ass Marquez is gonna get down for good. About Jack's claim that Pac ducks blacks, now that Manny had just made clear that he wants your idol Mayweather on Oct 17, that should put a duct tape on your mouth and your trainer's. Why should a fighter like you always have to say this guy or that guy is afraid of him just to get a shot? That's lame. You're not that desperate, are you? I suggest you read one of this site's previous articles that explains why Pacquiao's accomplishments has entitled him to be called an all-time great. Take down notes if you wish so you don't forget the syntax. I can sense your bitterness and I symphatize with you, just don't say that Manny Pacquiao's team is keeping him away from slick boxers. However when you mentioned 'marketability' as a reason not getting big fights, you hit the bullseye, man. Period.
Oscar still can......
Oscar ain't done yet. He just have to fight in his own weight which is 154. Merchant said he could have done better against Margarito than against Pacquiao. Manny was the wrong guy for him to fight. Pacman's style wasn't de la Hoya's cup of tea. You see, a boxer can be a hero or a zero depending on the type of opponents he can handle or can't handle. Even the best has a contra-fellow. After Ali decked Foreman, he revealed that Frazier--whom George Foreman had brutally knocked out twice--was a more dangerous opponent. There are lots of assessments and analysis that can be made about the dela Hoya-Pacquiao result, this is just one o' those. :fing02:
people are dumb
To everybody out there, will ya pls stop sayin this guy will beat that guy because of this and that and then eat your own words thereafter? It's crap. You're more subjective than objective. How many times were people proven wrong by Pacquiao? Aren't that enough for you to change your brain settings?
I have a feeling that it's gonna be a Pacquiao-Marquez showdown in a moment-of-truth finale. Still, my brain keeps telling me there's no way Marquez can triumph over Mayweather on July 18. The Mex is too small for Junior and he's 35 or 36 years old. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed these two guys won't put us to sleep. Even if Marquez loses to Mayweather, I'm a bit positive that Pacquiao would still give Dinamita a chance to complete their trilogy. We all know about the undying issue that continues to haunt Pacquiao everytime the name Marquez is mentioned, and he's not gonna let that nagging question mark forever stain his spectacular record. But first the Pacman has to get past through Floyd Jr, which I believe he could. With unbelievable and unexpected ease.
Forget Cotto, Mosley and Chavez Jr
Having seen the utter destruction that Pacquiao sowed wherever he went, Cotto was just smart not to be standing in the Pacman's path, and that is the 140 route. On the other side, Mayweather thinks the Marquez fight is gonna buy him some time to prepare before he eventually square it off against Pacquiao. Blame the purse, the economy, the swine flu but Junior Fraud is never off the hook until he fights the Pacman in a Moment-Of-Truth battle.
America showed racism is a thing of the past and now has an Obama for a president. Black and white, what's the difference? You can't see one without the other. Pacquiao is brown, but he aint down.
I felt sorry for poor Margarito--he was shamely ko'd and then there's this allegation of illegal wrapping. I guess he was already pretty much done when he was defeated by Williams even if he destroyed Cotto thereafter. Pacquiao probably saw that 'decline' in Margarito's latest performances that he has insisted he can outbox the bigger guy come a chance to fight him. The discovery of the ridiculous wrappings could start a new protocol, that is, each fighter should send one of his men to the other guy's room to watch the wrapping process. Why, this is the second time I know of that the issue has been raised. The first was in the Dream Match when Roach questioned and then witnessed for himself de la Hoya's handwrappings before fight time with Pacquiao. Mosley did great and I hope Pacquiao wins over Hatton so there'll be a chance for a Sugar-Pacman showdown. That'll be a winner!
The writer couldn't have said it better. I've been going along the same route. Roach and Ariza, Manny's conditioning guru, had said it over and over that it's too dangerous for de la hoya to have gone down in weight much too early in his training. Having done so, he had trained his mind and body to believe he's a natural 147-guy. So when it was time for him to add necessary mass to his body after the final weigh-in, his body and mind just would not respond. He couldn't take that food he needed to get himself up to at least 152 0r 154 where he fights best. This writer was right in all angles. In that fight size didn't matter but weight did.
This is one reason why the Roach-Pacquiao tandem keeps getting stronger over the years. There's trust and respect. Unlike some fighters who change trainers like they're changing their underwears. I expect Mr Predator Sr to come up with excess verbiage. It's his forte -- talking out loud. Roach talks dirty because there's nobody in the Team Pacquiao to do it. Manny doesn't even like to predict when he fights. Trash-talking is part of the hype and script. For this stuff, I give Mr Predator a slight edge over Mr Parkinson. However when it comes to the fighters, I pick Manny to KO Hatton in 11.
Right after Marquez challenged Mayweather, I immediately posted on several sites that this challenge has provided Junior a safe way for a comeback. I suspected then that it was Marquez in his mind when he talked about a July 11 tune-up fight. Then, after the recent Valero victory, I posted that Marquez is not going to answer Valero's challenge because of fear. Now I am saying that Marquez is not thinking of a 3rd rematch with Pacquiao, ever. He was just bullshitting when he called out Mayweather, assuming PBF wouldn't answer his call. Now he's in deep trouble. Any of these guys are big-hitters and can beat the hell out of him. So now they're looking forward to fight a long-time dead Morales.
Mayweather Sr is washing his hands, trying to detach himself from his ward's defeat by saying Hatton should retire. If there's anyone who contributed a lot to Hatton's downfall, it's the old guy. This "cocking before punching" habit of Hatton that Roach was saying, why didn't Old Floyd see that in training? And I don't get it, why should a losing fighter retire after getting beaten by a better guy? Manny wasn't just the better fighter in this fight, he is the best in the world even before he stepped into the ring. Hatton or de la Hoya could still fight if they would choose to. There are still a lot out there to beat. The Brit should fire Mayweather outright. He is a nuisance.
Missing the spotlights and the adulation, problems with money -- these are enough to lure Mayweather back to the scene. Guys in his status should have been spending millions in short periods to support his lifestyle. And after a year and a half of being inactive, the memory of past glory is still haunting him. There's no doubt he's gonna come back inside the ring. But the Mayweather that he is, he still chooses who he fights with. Marquez' recent open challenge offers him a safer tune-up fight. Not against Berto. People won't bite it if he faces any of the lesser guys. Go get Marquez on July 11. Look at that fight as a necessary sparring game if he wishes to fight the Pac next. One warning though: Don't engage Marquez in a counterpunching match or it can go down in boxing history as the most boring fight of all time.
Mayweather Sr can recite all his poems about how good Hatton is and how great a trainer he is but come fight night I believe in what Roach had said that Hatton's gonna get back to his old ways once he gets hit a few times by Manny. At 30, both fighters are not that old but as a boxer at 30, Hatton is too old to learn new tricks. I hope the Manchester guy doesn't resort to incessasnt holding on the inside, to borrow this writer's phrase, like he did against Floyd M because that would be very disappointing to watch. But I believe Hatton is such a dangerous guy at 140 and Pacquiao should have been the underdog in this fight.
Mayweather is not gonna fight anymore, ever! If you're doing your homework, you should have read that stuff where sources close to PBF said that there's something wrong inside Mayweather's body that may endanger his life if he steps up that ring again. That's why the unbeaten pug retired before his time. Hatton-Pacquiao is a 100% certainty, unless it's not>
Dumb coach
Beltran, like the old Mayweather, is another one of those low-IQ trainers who can't seem to spot the difference between the Pacquiao of today and the Pacquiao of old. The Pacquiao those guys beat or had a close fight with at 126 and 130 doesn't exist anymore. Wake up, get that brain working!
