They had a game plan to throw that overhand right and he used it far too early into the fight
Ben Davidson seems to be able to find a good flaw and punch that his fighters can capitalise on the opposition but as i was watching the fight i think after the second knockdown Dubois adapted and rolled just under the punches which is what impressed me the most about last night
Dubois ring IQ needs more appreciation and Wardly needs less criticism
I expected Dubois jab to be the biggest factor last night as its so accurate and closes the range and it was
If he bamboozled Joshua with it then i knew it would be a problem for Wardly
It set everything up for him
Just shows how good Usyk really is..
Dubois quit vs Usyk because of not just the punishment but having little success thats what really took his heart last time out
AJ had a career-worst performance vs. Dubois; it was frustrating to watch but for a different reason. He looked like someone suffering from performance paralysis, and Dubois simply ran his ass over.
Dubois was doing subtle things to make Wardley miss, but Wardley did himself no favors. Wardley's strength is that he'll swing his way out of a bad situation, but seeing such inaccuracy was driving me crazy. I do understand that the swollen eye was affecting his accuracy too, but he was looking desperate before that. A lot of poor decision making. It seems like Wardley hasn't learned enough to maximize his athleticism. High athleticism + low ring IQ + strong chin + big heart = high drama and entertainment for us, but brain damage for him. Wardley was still reacting, but I think the corner/ref/doctor could've reasonably stopped the fight sooner if they wanted to. It's a title fight, so I do understand giving Wardley a chance to turn it around....but he was getting pummeled.
Who's the constant between AJ and Wardley? Ben Davison.
Hopefully we see Itauma vs. Dubois next, instead of an immediate rematch.
Aside from a world class 1-2 and chin and heart the rest of Wardley is tough man skill level. It's like he just went from white collar boxing and jumped into world level boxing. Dubois could easily be out boxed tonight as his punches looked slow and ponderous at times and is too squared up on defense. Wardley just had no clue how to take advantage of these flaws.
He fought his heart out and left it in the ring. He also lost to someone more experienced, so I don't want to pile on him. After he takes time off to heal, he needs to sit down with his team and have a serious conversation about wtf went wrong. Other than the flash knockdowns, Dubois was working him over. He's stagnated under his current team; there were simply no improvements.
You proved ydksab
Dubois has always had quick feet but he is a gambler as he normally uses them to attack but he was put down and forced to think defensively
Dubois was probably the slowest hes ever been tonight but he started getting speed when he found his groove
Hes always had a quick jab and straight right hand if you dont know that then youre dumb
Theres a reason hes at this level and lands absolute bombs on people and it aint because hes in quicksand
You said it so yourself: Dubois was slower tonight, and he seemed heavier than usual. He's also not defensively agile. Wardley has athleticism, and I'm well aware that it takes more than that to win. But did you see how many fxcking times Wardley missed his right hand? His offense was as basic and sloppy as ever. His only consistent offense tactics were a jab feint and a 1-2. He kept loading up on the right hand, further gassing himself out and throwing himself out of position. Dubois' poise won him the fight. Wardley's corner should've done him a favor and pulled him out earlier because he was getting his ass kicked.
Wardley showed zero growth tonight, it was actually frustrating to watch. He's proven to be tough as nails, but he's his own worst enemy because he fought extremely dumb. Dubois is neither quick nor slick, so for Wardley to miss his right hand so much was comical.
Wardley throwing for the fences might be his downfall ...
His style is dangerous to himself and his opponent. It's what makes him an entertaining watch.
I want to pick Dubois, I think he has the skillset to make it pretty easy actually but his lack of balls and Wardley having gigantic ones is giving me major doubt.
I hope Wardley wins.
Great fight, as I expected it to be. This might be the worst recent performance I've seen of Walker, but he pulled it through. Eggington has absorbed a lot of punishment throughout his career; his face marks up very easily. He should probably hang them up.
Everybody's chasing that Ryan Garcia bag. Boxing has become such a joke.
Teofimo could've moved up to face Brian Norman when he still had the WBO title.
Tito is a Light welterweight or super lightweight if you like, NOT a lightweight.
Matchroom dropping the ball big time there - he was ready for the undercard of a Riyahd season card even 2 years ago.
MR only had him for one year/two fights, and Tito was injured for part of 2025. They didn't hold him hostage or waste his time, which is what really matters. There's no reason to keep Mercado right now if Hitchins is gone and Dalton is busy.
To those that watched: was Gallo's performance so bad that he should consider retirement? Or should he be fighting guys closer to his age/wear-tand-tear from now on?
"I don’t think winning a world title will beat beating Eubank. But now I have to win that world title and I’m back at my natural weight."
Translated: "I was too much of a pu$$y to chase smoke at 147 when Boots and Ortiz were here. Now that the division is empty, I'm back for some easy checks."
Notice how this clown has never tried to seriously campaign at 154. The two Eubank fights gave him cover (so he believes) to avoid real fights (Adames, Alimkhanuly) at 160. Dude is a major league wanker.
His career has become one big money grab. He chased the Eubank fight, and his career development suffered. He wasn't ready for Ennis/Ortiz (after van Heerden) and he wouldn't be ready for them now. I find his style entertaining, but he's not a serious contender.
All the important players??
You mean self important self proclaimed (not so) important players who have gotten so used to making a generation of least risk most reward melts to protect theyre own investments & who helped create sides of the street blocking fights.
Eddie is projecting he would have milked with Zayas fighting cans & old men.
All the greats we do remember took risks & boxed the best across theyre careers. I hope we remember Zayas.
...because Zayas is 23 and still near the beginning of his prime. There are many who are questioning why TR allowed Zayas to take this fight. However, I believe that being a champion comes with responsibility, and Zayas is behaving how a champion should. Just like young Vargas did when he fought a more experienced Trinidad. If Zayas loses and gets his ass kicked, so be it.
I seriously doubt Cordina will offer anything threatening to Mason. Keep in mind that he got butchered by Carace at 130 a few years ago.
Cordina didn't look great in the fight b4 Cacace either. After the flat performance vs. Vasquez, he should've moved up. I really don't think Cordina can absorb the beating Noakes did. Cordina used to be more of a slickster, but started believing in his power after KO'ing Ogawa. He holds his feet too long now, and Mason has the speed/reach to crack him.
They couldn't find a better opponent than Maltese Joe? If you're gonna fight once a year, please do better than this.
The match-up was being foreshadowed when Cordina won a WBO secondary title vs. Flores. Cordina is ranked WBO #1, so he's fair game. Hopefully, Cordina makes Mason think in there.
I want both guys to go away.
In fact, I want the entire old guard, Usyk included, to go away. It's time for new blood to revamp the division.
The "old guard": Usyk, Wilder, AJ, Fury, Chisora, Parker, Pulev, Whyte. Am I missing someone?
Wardley has been a recent MVP for the division: vulnerable, entertaining, and unafraid of taking step-up fights. I do wish he was fighting Kabayel instead of Dubois.
Is it crazy to say that this version of Chisora is a top 5 win for Wilder? That is sort of depressing.
After the post fight interview, where Tszyu said he tried to get the KO....I really think Tszyu is shot...He never fought at that slow/ moderate pace after hurting his opponents previously. He REALLY hurt Nurja twice and was busting him up through most of the fight. He doesn't seem to have that higher gear anymore. That seemed to be kind of glaring to me in this fight. He almost had his opponent KO'd...Did he not notice how badly he hurt him?
He hurt Nurja both times with equilibrium shots, but Nurja was able to recover. Tszyu seemed to let off the gas in the 9th and started boxing at mid-range. If Salas is his trainer, I expect him to fight more like that, from now on.
Like Southpawology said, Spence may have found a way back in.
Yeah it was suppose to be his retirement fight, but if you watched his post fight interview, he wouldn’t say it was and seemed to indicate he wanted to go again, but kept hinting it was up to the “boss” his wife lol
Del Boy is someone who will need to be saved from himself. He'll keep fighting until his brain is leaking from his ears.
I thought Tszyu was gonna be able to turn the screw in the 7th and get Nurja outta there. IDK about his world-level chances at 160. Fortunately for him, the division is thin.
Messy fight and impossible to score with any confidence. I thought Wilder deserved the nod but that's about as much as I could manage.
Very clear that neither should be in a ring again.
I really hope Chisora doesn't. He's been a warrior but it's time to finish.
Wilder has been a bit of fun.
Bellew said during yesterday's MR card that Chisora has allegedly planned to retire after this one. We will see if this comes true.
