In both the Hearns & Pac fights, the winners previously landed a series of power punches that set up the KO. In last night's fight, Martinez's punch came out of nowhere and finished off his opponent. Thus, it was a true one punch KO.
In the earlier fights, I felt both victims would quickly recover. Frankly, I was terribly worried about Williams last night and am very glad he came put OK. Awesome punch.
If I was a boxing coach I would always emphasize defense. These videos show why this is so important!
''The Philippines has a population of over 92 million people, claiming more than forty current and former world champion boxers. That's a nice showing. But does it sound like a great per capita ratio?''
Puerto Rico has about 70 champions despite having only 4 million in population. The Philippines population is 23 times more but has produced roughly over half the amount produced by PR. Thus, on a per capita basis, she has to produce close to 1600 champs to equal PR's output.
''PR has by far the world's poorest quality of fighters among ATG's''
I'm sure their victims don't quite feel that way when they're flat on their backs in the ring or when they see the PR collect the winning check. But thanks for your kind words just the same.
;)
I'm so glad to be back into watching pro boxing again. Last night Nonito Donaire showed what a class act he is. There was thunder in his fists and poor Vladimir Sidorenko could not answer that barrage of punches.
Good show.
