Absolutely true. How does someone "retire" (remember that period) when there are young lions all around at or near your weight class. A true badass clears everybody out. What's dissapointing to me, is that I think Floyd has it in him to rise to the occasion, as he has proven now. But we didn't get to see that closer to his prime. He didn't challenge himself.
What I find sad is that the reason Morales started his comeback is that he found life outside the ring depressing and meaningless, and he said that fighting was the only thing that made him feel happy. Instead of sorting that out he went back to boxing, which just postponed the problem. Is he going to be one of the many ATGs who spend the rest of their lives after retirement living on memories of their past and hating their present? I hope not, but I am not optimistic.
saludos desde tj/san diego. bingo on your post bro. el terrible went out on his sword. in spanish we say "se murio en la raya". went out doing the only thing he knows. just like he put the final blow on zaragosa, he went out the same way. there's a ****ing cruel symmetry to it. saludos.
Agreed. Been watching boxing since late 70s, early 80s. Still disagree with this catchweight bs. That is something recent, and minimizes what belts are all about. Anybody who *****es about belts meaning anything, gtfoh. It's about making weight, and defending your title. There is a reason why there are divisions in boxing. Make the weight. This is basic in boxing. It's about discipline.
