these guys know how to represent themselves well. i think that's one of the reasons the fight is so prolifically publicized. it's good for boxing. personally, i wouldn't buy too much into this act of intense rivalry. by the end of the match, no matter who gets the nod, i predict they'll both be smiling and hugging each other all the way to the bank!
as far as mayweather is concerned, stylistically speaking, you can do nothing but respect the man. i think skills-wise he is pound-for-pound the best out there in the world today. but as far as accomplishments go, i think he has a lot more to prove. he has not achieved undisputed recognition and nothing in his fight schedule even suggests that he is planning to unify. this man needs to increase his level of competition. de la hoya's a good start but he is by no means the best opponent out there
basically what i see is a very talented individual wasting his legacy among boxing's knowledgeable by belt-hunting. it may look good in the recordbooks, but that's no way to impress the fans. that's my opinion, anyway.
and finally, he did get beat by castillo (115-111 by my scorecard) but that's in the past and i'm willing to let that go. it was a bad call; not a particularly rare occurence in boxing so whatever.
