Kid is fast as heck for a heavyweight. He's got what looks like flaws-a-plenty, but speed (and power) have a way of compensating for apparent technical flaws, particularly in the heavyweight division, and he's only likely to get better. Usyk would be a bridge too far likely, but those physical gifts have big intangibles. Him v Kabayel would be a really fun fight eventually.
Sunny Edwards was an undefeated champion at the time of the fight, and the only reason it wasn't for the Ring and lineal title was that Ring inscrutably refused to value Bam's accomplishments at 115 in determining his ranking at 112.
Ryan Garcia was not training or competing on fight night 'Under the same conditions as Devin Haney, their contest was not a equal or faire fight. The very moment Garcia ether tactically or deliberately missed the 140 pound weight limit, and weighed in at 143 pounds. He was then competing with a manufactured advantage over Devin Haney'.
PEDs are one thing, but Haney outweighed Garcia on fight night. Ryan's fight night weights have been 160 for his recent fights including vs Haney. Haney weighs 165+ on fight night, as he did vs Prograis. He just didn't bother making weight, and he's not been able to make 140 for any fight at that weight class. If it were same day weigh-ins, maybe you'd have a point, but Haney had the weight advantage in ring, as he has vs every opponent he's ever fought.
Not Fulton's fault but the fight turned out to be a downer after such an exciting undercard.
It's Figueroa's fault. He's the one smothering his own work. Fulton could probably not throw another punch for the rest of the fight and still win if the judges aren't hopelessly corrupt.
Id rather see Usyk vs Kabayel and Parker vs DDD.
Wilder/Zhang/Bakole v Makhmudov/Sanchez/Zhang?
I think Parker's earned it far more, and his title shot is due in the mandatory rotation, while Kabayel's is last in line. The only thing that beats the due mandatory, risked against arguably the 3 biggest punchers in the division, is a unification, and I don't really think Dubois earned it.
That's a pretty good showing for a 7th fight, TBH. I like the skills he showed. Active guard, can fight on the outside or inside, defense is tighter than I usually see at this stage in a prospect's career, although he's still getting hit by stuff he shouldn't, not that it even staggered him, guard strips, stays in balance, good timing.
