I guess this has been said before and I'm not even quite sure what is being discussed here but I'll say this: A great UFC fighter has little chance to win in a boxing ring against a great boxer. But in the Octagon, even a mediocre MMA fighter, even Holly Holms, could take any boxer, even a great one.
There’s plenty of weigh in videos on YouTube if you just want to stroke one out
No Man, can't do that. I save all that private time for Amanda Nunes. :)
Get a VPN and switch through the different Netflix’s. I’m pretty sure I spotted it on Netflix Netherlands or Netflix France or something.
Bingo!! Thanks TheMyspaceDayz. It worked I found it on UK Netflix.
No question he's a bit on the small side. But let's face it, his lack of size isn't his biggest deficit. That being said, Tyson was small (well short) too. If David Lemieux could dance half as well as Saunders he'd be a champ again for sure.
There would be some satisfaction in seeing Manny beat Horn again but I don't need to see Horn get that kind of publicity. We all know Manny won and we all know the only reason Horn stayed in as long as he did was because the one thing he is good at is dirty fighting and the referee shockingly allowed the dirty tactics to go on. Manny was fighting 2 people that night: Horn and the ref.
I'm going to watch with great interest. It's an exciting proposition. It's meaningless because everyone knows Conor would kill Floyd within a minute in a street fight. Put 2 evenly matched boxers in a street fight and it's still anyone's guess who wins.
But it's entertainment and we get to see Floyd in action again--he's not my favourite person but holy crap he's a master boxer. Of course, it's stll meaningless UNLESS Conor does get a punch in and KO's Floyd. I doubt it'll happen but the chance is there. Conor doesn't even need to connect flush...he can just graze you and put you down.
Without knockout power, Farmer is too limited. No one can stay in the elite club too long these days without being able to KO at leas 50% of the time. Fans get bored watching good fighters beat on each other for 12 rounds with little chance of even a knockdown. On top of that, what ever power Farmer did had was used up by round 4.
Did you even watch the fight Jake Donovan?
To suggest Lemieux's left hand "bailed him out" last night is so far from the truth it makes me seriously wonder if the authour even watched the fight.
Whatever you want to say about Lemieux's potential in the big leagues, at least acknowledge that last night, he completely dominated his opponent. At times it looked like David was working out on the heavy bag. He put in at least 3 rounds attacking Ntetu's body; that caused him to drop his hands to protect his body. That's how David set up the 2 big lefts that dropped his opponent---there was no bailing out.
You're wrong guys: he is staying in shape. He posts Facebook photos of he and his family and himself training almost everyday. Doesn't seem to have gained a pound.
"Rubio, Alcine.....
you are nuts if you think that Lemieux is elite
he is the very definition of one-dimensional, and limited"
I never said I thought David Lemieux was an elite boxer--in fact, I don't think I've ever heard anyone ever say he was elite. But he is a very good boxer with a devastating left-hook (Max Kellerman, who has seen his share of left hooks said it was: "The scariest left hook KO I've ever seen."
Lemieux is a well-ranked boxer and a great deal of fun to watch--On a good day he can take out up to 98% of current fighters his weight---even with a bad hand he might take out 80%. Let's not forget too that he's only 25-26 years old. He's got close to 10 years left in his career to improve his skills. If he keeps on the right path and maybe one day gets an elite trainer---who knows?
Ruiz would be out of his mind to fight Parker just now...later, ok. If Ruiz fights Parker now he gets Happy Meal money. If he fights Wilder or Fury, and wins, he owns every Mickey-D's in Las Vegas.
"Lemieux last match was bad and commentators were saying he would have lost if it was a 12 rounder"
Lemieux hurt his right hand in the 2nd round of that fight. You can see it when it happened if you watch the video. Even with the bad hand he made Reyes face look like hell.
I watched this. Great job by Hardy . She scored a great knockdown.
Yeah Man! Heather Hardy did put on a great show...loved it! I hope she continues to gives us such great entertainment.
Those blows were low. And it happened enough that Ward should have been warned, if not lost a point. Kovalev's style of headhunting with power causes him to gas out and so he wasn't doing well in the later rounds. No way the fight should have been stopped though. At the least a recovery period for Kovalev and at the worst a standing 8-count. By the way, I don't like to see or watch Ward but it's not because of his style of fighting; he's actually interesting to watch from a skill perspective. I just don't like him.
It's too bad Povetkin is getting such bad press about the drug test. Maybe I don't have all the info but it seems to me that his reputation is being damaged unfairly. Povetkin was only caught, I think, with evidence of meldonium use. That's not a performance enhancing drug. From what I've read, it's not the kind of drug that would make Potvetkin look any different after quitting it---helps in preventing tissue damage
It's also the same drug Maria Sharapova tested positive for and got a 2 year suspension for. The whole meldonium issue seems iffy; the drug was only banned recently after athletes had been allowed to use it for years. Sharapova is fighting back too and authorities have just reduced Maria's penalty down to 15 months.
Hardy showed some good take down defense. I hope they carefully match her - because of her age and that division has take down hawks, especially at the top.
Over the decades it's been really clear how the importance of boxing/striking has influenced todays MMA fights. Ronda was dethroned mostly because she didn't keep up with the changes that would require better boxing skills. Mcgregor wins because of strikes and last night Heather Hardy showed what a good overhand right and some bloody impressive boxing head-movement can do--along with that good take-down defence you mention.
Just great to see her bring her boxing talent into the fight in the way she did. I agree too; I hope they bring her along slowly though. (Not throw her to the lions the way Lemieux was thrown at GGG too soon)
She is "old" for a fighter but she's got up to 5 years, (Adonis Stevenson started very late as well---which is why he only fight occasionally--smart man.) So I hope to see Hardy moving up slowly and steadily---maybe she won't become a champ in MMA but she'll give us all some great fights to watch.
Bruh, Heather Hardy made more money in her Bellator debut then she did IN ANY BOXING MATCH EVER. She's a two weight ****ing world champion. This sport is a joke with their treatment of female boxers
You're right, boxing promoters and boxing TV is really missing out on the potential of female boxers. I don't watch much MMA but I for sure watch when it's women like Roussey, Holms, Nunes. In fact the only reason I watched Bellator last night was to see Heather Hardy. She really put on a good show--such impressive head movement.
It's exciting to watch these kind of fighters and UFC has no trouble arranging for a great female fighter to headline a major event--and the MMA fans knows that these kind of women are the real deal. I once heard a boxing old-timer say he'll believe in women's boxing when a woman kills an opponent in the ring--well, let's pray that never happens, but the day where it could happen has arrived.
When are they going to stop putting big fights from two different networks on on the same night? Makes no sense to me whatsoever. I hate having to make the Sophie's Choice of which one to watch; either way I lose because I miss much, or all, of one good fight.
It just astounds me that boxing in general, hasn't gotten it's **** together-- Did they actually have to wait weeks to make that call?-- Everyone on air at HBO, and everyone watching at home, knew for certain after watching the replays, knew that Rigo's punch came after the bell. The referee and the commissioner could only get his decision-making info from: "some unidentified guy in the technical truck?? WTF??? What does the NHL do when a goal is suspect?--Go looking for some ding-a-ling outside in a truck? Ridiculous.
Absolutely a great matchup. A good move for Broner too because it becomes a big name fight and that's good money and great recognition for him. I want to see him back as a serious contender because, like him or not, he adds excitement to the boxing world. 140 might be hard for Broner but it's been suggested he'd do better at lower weights anyway. Crawford doesn't need this fight but it'll help push on his slow but steady rise to the top of the PPV heap. Who would win?-- Crawford. But Broner seems to be becoming more serious these days and that usually means better. And of course, Broner is always a KO threat.
People don't get the picture. No one knows if Cotto will fight Lemieux at whatever weight, but the past year's news has been pointing to that fight.
Lemieux's name has a much higher "star" value today than it ever has. He can be more choosy. His big KO of Curtis Stevens helped put his name in highlights. In dollar $$$$ terms, what does he get for fighting Saunders...almost no one outside of Britain and the core boxing world knows who BJS is. If you tried to sell a Lemieux vs Saunders fight in Las Vegas you'd go broke; even with the title on the line. Now, switch BJS in Vegas for Cotto...now we're talking PPV; and the value of that to Lemieux is that if he takes out Cotto his brand value goes through the roof; and everyone in Puerto Rico and Mexico will know his name. Lemieux is only 26...he's got plenty of title shots to look forward to.
