I was watching the Johnson documentary and I started wondering, who was the most technically skilled fighter of all time? I've heard alot of people say it was Gene Tunney. Also, from watching this documentary, I started thinking, how does the skill level of old time super skilled fighters match the fighters of today? Jim Corbett is always described as being astonishingly skilled, I wonder how his skills compare to todays fighters. Also it's funny how "Gentleman" Jim was a violent racist!! LOL, I guess probably every white guy was racist back then (I'm white, I'm not taking shots at whitey :).

My mom told me a very interesting story last night. My dad was a big Marvin Hagler fan, and since we didn't have cable, he would sometimes plan family vacations some that he would be able to watch a fight on HBO or ESPN at a hotel (I don't know why he didn't just get cable, LOL). My mom, who doesn't care about boxing, said that one time she was asleep during the fight, and she said when she woke up dad was crying. She asked him why he was crying and he said it was because Marvin Hagler had been so great. I asked mom when this had happened, she said that it was when I was about two years old or so. I was two years old in 1987...it was the Ray Leonard fight, which I was watching while she told this story. I was very surprised by this (my dad's not the crying type of guy), and I thought I'd share the story. Anyone else have any weird stories like this?

Is there a place on the net that has an archive of Ring Magazine's P4P Top 100 Lists? I think it would be interesting to see how high Duran, Chavez, Ali, Tyson and a bunch of others ever got on P4P. I don't know how long they've been making these lists though...

I was thinking that it's kind of funny how Rocky Marciano, George Foreman, and Joe Frazier were all great fighters, but they didn't have a high level of skill, they were just physically incredibly tough. I'm not saying this to discredit these guys, but all of them have about as much skill as a guy who has read a 2 page booklet about boxing. I was wondering do you guys know any great fighters in the lower divisions that had a similar skill level? It would be interesting to see a 126-147 pounder fighting like Joe Frazier and actually winning.

What fighter set the fastest pace in his fights and was still able to keep it up all the way through 10-12 rounds? I've never seen any Aaron Pryor fights, but I've heard this guy threw a never ending stream of punches for the entire fight.

I was just wondering what would a fighter have to do to become universally accepted as the P4P greatest fighter of all time. In these days of only fighting once every 6 months or so, I think you'd have to do something like KO every guy you ever fought within 30seconds or something. There's just no way you could get a Sugar Ray Robinson type record of 128-1-1 unless you fought until you were 60.

Does anyone know where I can download these? I'm going to check out torrents, but the files are like 800mb, there's no way I can wait that long, plus it couldn't be burned onto a cd. This is pretty much the only site I've found that has full fights for free download, and I don't think any of these fights are available. I know there's a clip from Marciano-Walcott 1, but I want the full fight.

This is kind of a stupid thread, but I thought it was original, and I'm bored... What do you think is the best line ever by a commentator in any sport? Like when Al Michaels said "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!", that was pretty cool. But the calls during Gatti-Ward I R9 are the best ever Manny Steward "You dream about fights like this but very seldom do they live up to the expectation, but this is even more than you could imagine" (possibly not an exact quote" Jim Lampley "Ward nods as if to say: come on! Come On! COME ON LET'S FIGHT!!" Manny Steward "This should be the round of the century!" The best call I can imagine would be: Larry Merchant "I'm a dousche bag"

What is the greatest round of all time. I haven't seen that much, but I have to say that Gatti-Ward I R9 was amazing. Hagler-Hearns R1 was just as good.
