People are always looking to take away a hard earned victory from a hard working fighter. Maidana has always been a grafter, so I don't understand why anyone would think a pill was taken. I certainly didn't see anything.
It's one of the great victories of this era of boxing. Just savour it.
The quicker Manny fights Mayweather the better for him. His style isn't one that necessarily transitions well into old age, whereas you could conceivable see Mayweather fight until he's ****ing fifty with that style of his.
I'm a huge fan of both men. They're both fantastic boxers. I think, though, if you look back through history at the bouts involving someone of superior technique against a more exciting fighter, it's usually the technique man who wins. Tunney over Dempsey, Floyd over Canelo, Johnson over Jeffries. Sugar Ray over Jake, Leonard over Duran etc. Obviously this isn't always the case but at the very highest level it usually is. So Mayweather would have to be the favourite. It'd still be a fantastic fight, though.
I think the failings of the shoulder roll style on a fighter who lacks the skillset to really use it is now becoming evident. Broner and Berto are both good examples of the failings of the style when you lack the unique abilities of a Mayweather or a Rigondeaux.
That makes me think, actually, that people should be calling Rigondeaux the next Mayweather. Stylistically, I mean. He's the only one even close to him technically.
Or maybe, we should wait to see who's the FIRST "whatever the next P4P great's name happens to be" instead of the "next" Floyd.
In the ideal world that would be how it'd go. But boxing like most sports will always seek to find the next version of whoever was the absolute pinnacle of their sport.
