No issue with Canelo take some fights on DAZN but I think it would be better for him to float around different platforms like ESPN, FOX, Showtime or whoever ESPECIALLY as a Self Promoter now. It helps generate more money and by generating more money that means more bigger fights gets made easily with Investors and Networks know that if they put big money up on certain fights and fighters it will generate all their money back and MORE
Boxing was popular with the casuals in the past because it was entertaining. People loved watching 2 men smash each others faces in. Today's boxing is much different. Because of Floyd, too many fighters are afraid to lose their undefeated record so they play it safe. Plus with the internet and social media, it is harder to hype up someone without hearing what the haters say.
If you want to hype up a fight as a promoter and you are trying to con the public into thinking fighter A is some knockout artist and we should all tune in to see him knock his next opponent out. Today we have the internet and it is easy for people to debunk that promoter and find the truth. In the past you had to read about it in the paper or see it on tv and there was not much money or incentive to right opposing pieces. Everyone wanted in on that band wagon because it meant more ad revenue.
I do not mind having casuals tune in for a fight. I consider myself a UFC casual where my brother is a hardcore UFC guy. I watch UFC fights/events maybe 1-2 times a year. Do I pay for them? No, my brother does. UFC is not my thing and I do not find it entertaining enough for me to want to invest my time into it. I am getting off point now.
In the end I agree that Canelo should test the market and see what else he can do with his fights on other networks. This way they could start a bidding war for him and pay him more.

I think the term DAZN used (according to the article) is "premium". I would imagine, in DAZN's view, GGG, UFC fighters, ODLH or even a random YouTuber would be considered "premium".
I don't think anyone could argue those opponents (with exception of GGG) are "elite". Elite opponents would be Andrade, Nicole, Beterbiev with BJS and Smith a notch below them.
DAZN is looking for whatever will draw subscriptions in the US market. It's why you had youtubers fight as main events. It's unfortunate, I love the idea of a streaming service that provides me fight cards of varying levels throughout the year. I was excited about the potential of DAZN but there were warning signs of trouble and desperation fairly early.

The decision to reschedule from July to October was out of the hands of ALL PARTIES because it was impossible due to the pandemic for the fight to take place. The second reschedule from October to December was decided by BOTH networks because they would not be able to sell tickets to the event. Either way each time BOTH parties agree to an extension, the limitations of the contract extends as well. Now the 3rd reschedule is again being decided by BOTH networks because of the college football schedule.
As you can see, Wilder has not rescheduled anything. And Fury's issue as well as yours should be with ESPN and Fox, because they are the ones holding up the fight. This is very simple really.
Why would it be impossible for the fight to take place between July and October? There were plenty of other fights taking place then. Unless there was some sort of agreement in the contract about having to have a venue for the purses, Wilder really has no leg to stand on. If I was ranking him right now I would not say he was the best Mexican ever but he is slowly working his way up there. He is still young and has a good 6 more years to fight. In those six years he can make another 10 good fights and even if he only fights the best contenders in half of those fights that would still be a good resume in my eyes.
Canelo's double edge sword is that he was just a young kid when he became a super star and since then he has been compared with the best in history. People forget that he is still young and learning and growing with each fight. Maybe one day he will be regarded as the best Mexican ever, maybe not.

When there is a fight I am genuinely excited in watching I rarely pay attention to what anyone on tv is saying. I can hardly hear what my family in the back ground arguing are saying. I was the same way when I would spar or fight. I would tune everything out and focus on the person in front of me. That said, on fights where I am not looking at it from a trainers eye I do not mind hearing what others opinions are. I like Ward and he seems to get it right more than not. The big plus is that his voice is not annoying like Bradley or Paulie.
But wishing death on someone because he did something wrong makes you as much of a piece of sht as him. Probably bigger because Spence probably doesn’t go around wishing death on people who make big mistakes. I guess in a way that is better than what MLB does. They have a finite limit as to how many years or how many times you can try to get in. I hope Cotto gets in at some point. They should also vary how many get in based on the selection. If there are 5 clear cut HOF that should get in, no reason why they should not and have to wait another year etc. If there is only 1 clear cut HOF then limit it to just that one.
