I was actually quite impressed with Hatton's change in style in the Malignaggi fight, he moved better and actually threw a damaging right straight, which I'd never seen from him before. The only problem I felt was that he stood too upright and so got KTFO by Pacquio
boxing requires a greater level of skill than mmgay.Only an mmgay fan would deny that. You don't have to be anything other than a glass jawed grappler to make it in mmgay.
To compare the level of skill and the depth of talent in boxing to trash like mmgay isn't just laughable,it's insulting.
You're not a boxing fan and you don't know anything about the sport.Go back to sherdog.
LOL. No you're right I'm not a boxing fan, I just actually do both boxing and grappling as sport which probably makes me more qualified to speak on the topic than you.
You do have to be more than a glass jawed grappler, you have to be AT MINIMUM a grappler capable of taking strikers off their feet while they are trying to KO you. Saying MMA has less skill is ingorant, MMA simply has a different and wider skill set..
..and how can you argue that the boxers have more skill if they go in a cage and get their ass kicked? seriously I'm interested by this notion.
And yet Miguel Torres would constradict your claim. He himself expressed much surprise at how physically tiring the sparring alone was.
You've never grappled or boxed so STFU.
If you had ever grappled from standing you would appreciate how tiring it is on the body.
Mercer has a punch, a puncher always has a shot in any fight, especially in MMA with 4oz gloves.
There is nothing you can say that is actually legitimate. Sylvia is and always has been a big sack of shit as far as I'm concerned, and yes the UFC heavyweight division has always been scarce until lesnar.. But you won't catch a boxer putting him down anytime soon. and in the lower weight divisions absolutely no boxers have made it anywhere. The only one who is recognisable is Davis and he is relegated to being a gatekeeper.
I have no problem with boxing, seeing as I actually DO the sport I would think I know more about it than some LARPer who watches fights but never has them
Boxing is a much more skilled game. Thats why boxers are able to move over to ufc and mma. Never ever heard of any ufc or mma fighter being good enough to switch to the boxing game
you are wrong. Boxing requires a greater degree of Boxing skill than MMA. In MMA you have to have many many more skills than in any other combat sport. The reason MMA fighters don't go to boxing is because they do not specialize in boxing, so even if that was their strongest part of their game, they wouldn't be as good as someone who only trains in that section of skill.
.. and AFAIK no top professional boxer has, as of yet become a top MMA fighter, Its normally grapplers who can do it
Yeah but being a championship boxer with no grappling or ground game transitioning into UFC is the same thing as a championship wrestler with no boxing or striking game doing it.
In MMA all aspects of fighting are EQUAL! Ground game is just as significant in MMA as striking is.
So so wrong. Tbh I didn't expect anything less on a boxing forum. unfortunately quite a few pure boxers tend to get all retarded when the conversation goes outside of their sport
What people dont realize if toney was 5 or 6 years younger he would be doing almost the same thing as brock lesnar
No. This is a bad example.
wrestling is different to striking in that you have more contol over your opponent, you can pin them down and land pretty much unanswered strikes, you are almost guaranteed not to get Ko'd once you're on top and if you're smart you might have a low chance of being subbed.
In striking there is more that can happen, you can get clinched/ taken down and there is the ever present danger of getting caught and KO'd. Semtex Daley is doing well as a puncher atm but it requires a high grappling skill to stay on your feet.
Also, Toney is not anywhere near as big as brock, and unless he cut to welterweight he would stay pretty small for his weight class
I can argue it because I have never seen one notable boxer with a working pulse ever step in mmgay and get his ass kicked.I did see a near 50 year old Ray Mercer render a former ufc champion unconscious.
You said it yourself. Sylvia has gone downhill big time
Don't confuse skillset with options. An mmgay fighter has more options but is lacking in the vast majority of them.A boxer must be skilled in his one option or face never making it.Marcus Davis found this out himself.
Marcus Davis has some of the best boxing in MMA atm
A glass jawed grappler is all it takes to make it in mmgay.A joker who doesn't have the stamina and endurance to push a consistent pace.
Grappling actually is far more tiring than striking, if you'd ever done it you'd know this.
Glad you admit that you're not a fan.
Those who can.. do.
Those who can't.. sit in front of their TV and shout at the pros how they should be doing it
