Froch just can't refrain from talking crap. He thinks he's number two in the world, really? Maybe Bute and Kessler would argue over that point.
He seems to be more popular in the states than he is at home, maybe he should base himself in the states, few would miss him this side of the pond.
And British boxing has certainly seen better days. Still, with 'world beaters' like Tyson Fury in the pipeline what do we have to worry about?:ugh::rolleyes:
Joshua is just NOT on the same level as Lennox, Wladimir, Fury, Usyk OR Wilder!
...and that is just the way it is.
I'm very sorry Great Britain.
Why do you feel the need to apologise? You are stating fact. Our best heavyweight was Lennox, both Joshua and Fury shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Lennox.
A peak Wladimir would have starched Joshua, and if a peak Vitali had chinned him years ago he'd still be on life support!
Froch is the UK's best boxer by far
all the rest since Calz have been embarrassments/let downs
this remains true if Froch loses to Ward, because he's already proven it
Totally agree, and i'm certainly not a fan of 'Motormouth'.
I back Ward to beat Froch, but Ward can hit him all night and not put a dent in him.
'Amir Khan is the saviour of British Boxing'......Dream on, 'China Chin' will have KO defeat #2 on his record, sooner rather than later.
It's good when people like Toney say this stuff because then people know for sure it's garbage.
Toney's opinions on boxing are on a par with Stevie Wonders landscape photography.............
Haha good one. Bernard Hopkins lost his first ever fight. Ali lost to Frazier in their first meeting yet is regarded as the better boxer. Even if Froch retired now he'd have a better legacy than most boxers out there. He's a 2 time world champion, beaten some of the best boxers in the current generation. He should be a superstar right now.
Dont think he'd beat Calzaghe, but then who could, eh? No-one.
So if Froch should be a 'Superstar' where does that leave Kessler?
Kessler who held both the WBA and WBC straps simultaneously (Unlike Froch)
Lost to Calzaghe then reclaimed his old WBA strap, lost it, then took Froch's WBC strap?
Mind you in all fairness judging by the likes of Taylor,Abraham,Dirrell, and 'Pensioner' Johnson then some may regard him as a 'Superstar'. It just underlines that the division isn't what it used to be.
Who knows, we may see a totally regenerated Kessler emerge to pump some interest back in the division, i hope so.
In the meantime we'll have to see how Froch copes with punching fresh air against Ward.........
For those who don't understand English with a Welsh 'Twang', this interview was prior to the Calzaghe V Jones fight.
Enzo was making the point that Pavlik was not up to fighting Joe, and Hopkins underlined that fact at a later date..........:boxing:
Just more evidence that Froch is seriously deluded.
Indeed he's Britain's greatest ever boxer, he's the worlds greatest ever super middleweight, he will go on to unify all the world titles and reign for years.......All in his own little dream world.
I like Barker, but i think Martinez has got too much experience (And a decent punch) Martinez by comfortable points win or stoppage round 9 or later?
I might add that i'd be delighted to be wrong, and Barker could get off to a bright start, but Martinez will catch up with him.
Ward= Miranda, Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham
Froch= Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Abraham, Johnson (Kessler fight could have gone either way)
Froch is a tough S.O.B., i wouldn't count him out. I still have yet to see Ward in trouble but he's not invincible. This will be his most exciting fight.
Of course Froch can't be counted out. He does have a decent dig, and there is no stamina problem with him either.
I've always been impressed by Kessler, but i can say i was shocked how easy Ward dominated the fight with him, lucky for Kessler Ward doesn't bang hard.
Now compare how Froch did against a jaded Kessler, did Kessler just have an off night against Ward? I don't think so.
Ward will be very confident, having compared the way he coped with Kessler, and how Froch struggled with him.
It’s guns v guns, and Povetkin taking Whyte out again isn’t been ruled out here by me. His intelligence and power is still there, the fact that he set up that uppercut perfectly shows boxing isn’t just about age at HW level.
Spot on. This could be Povetkin's last major fight if it goes pear-shaped, but he goes into this fight with a major psychological advantage.
lol how is ward chinny?? when has he even been wobbled or visibly hurt??....... not only that but froch really doesn't hit as hard as he thinks hence why just like ward he hasnt ko'd anyone in the tourny. The way Froch talks about his power you would think he could KO Vitali klitschko. Ward all the way!!
terrible pre-fight analysis. ward has never shown any inklings that he is a mental midget. mentally, he is a champ. 10 million says ward dominates froch.
ppl seem to 4get that dirrell puzzled this guy for 12rds. i like froch but he is far from special.
Fair comments guys.
How do you know that??Ward has never fought a strong puncher like Froch,
You've got a short memory. Ward went in against Kessler, who was the betting favourite to win the 'Super six', I like Kessler but Ward dominated him (To my surprise) and even a jaded Kessler is a better boxer than Froch.
I think Ward's punching power is underrated. Sure he might not be able to hurt Froch, but I think he'll get Froch's respect. With Ward's good punch repertoire, specifically his jab, I see Froch being the aggressor for the majority of the fight and getting hit cleanly while still being able to land his. This got FOTY written all over it.
Ward has the better all round skills, speed, and better tactics. Having beat Kessler, Ward will have the psychological advantage over Froch too. No doubts that Froch will have his moments but they are likely to be few and far between.
Poo, your posts stink.
If you don't step off, I'm going to have to fetch some air-freshener to mask the stench of crap while I'm reading. :S
Oh, wait, there's more foulness I missed a few pages back,
You mean back when Joe was blazing a trail through Pudwill, Starie, Woodhall, Veit et al?
Froch has only fought two credible guys? Your posts are rotten, stinky garbage and you know nothing - GTFO, find a ball-sucking forum and leave this one to posters who know the sport, you absolute joke.
Look, it's pointless me arguing with a schoolkid. Going off the tone of your infantile little rant your obviously a tired little boy, i'll excuse you for that.
Now get off to bed, or you'll just get overtired and have another bad day with teacher tomorrow.
When you have the slightest insight to a sport that you clearly know NOTHING about then you may comment on it. When you grow up you'll be able to look back and have a laugh at how silly you made yourself look as a child.
Now give Mommy a goodnight kiss, have a wee wee,(Don't want soiled bed sheets do we?) get off to bed, and keep your hands on top of the bed covers......
I like Joyce but he's the slowest boxer I've ever seen. Wilder would obliterate him.
Ditto. He comes across as a nice guy, but way too slow and ponderous.
I am looking forward to his fight with Daniel Dubois. Should be interesting, I doubt if the judge's scorecards will be needed!
England doesn't have a "national anthem", never has it's either the "British" anthem or nothing, unlike Scotland and Wales.
And neither guy is English, maybe British but certainly not English.
The Saudis are fronting the bill, better listen to massa and do as you're told or it's off with your head or in this case access to the purse strings.
England doesn't have a national anthem? What is sung at England football matches, the Greek national anthem?
Neither guy is English according to you, just do a little research and tell me what part of Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland they were born in then.......
Fight went pretty much as predicted, DDD to win inside six, if it goes beyond that then it's JJ fight.
I slightly favoured JJ in this fight, although I assumed the worse-case scenario that he might either have to climb off the deck to win, or be on the brink of getting stopped before he got his second wind.
I didn't expect him to dominate DDD with just a pawing (but VERY effective) jab. Yes JJ got caught a few times but had no trouble absorbing DDD shots.
I had JJ leading by two points at the stoppage. It was a close fight and I wouldn't argue with those who had it even closer, as for the judge who had DDD winning eight of the rounds? Give me a break....
Who else noticed DDD's ring walk? When the camera went close up and he look like a scared rabbit caught in headlights? Contrast that to how cool and relaxed JJ seemed.
The fight may have been won psychologically before a punch was thrown.
Prior to the fight most pundits claimed that the loser would come back again....NONSENSE.
Yes, the young DDD can rebuild his career at 23, what does Joyce to at 35?
If the fight had gone the way some pundits predicted with Joyce getting KO'd, when would he fight again? Next April at the earliest, or maybe next summer? He's 36 next September.
If he lost by KO then his next fight would be against a tomato-can to rebuild his confidence, win that and next up a domestic or European level opponent?
Then he has to get back into world contention, so the European title would be one option, but when? in 2022 when he's 37?
Last night's fight was crucial for Joyce and just a career setback for DDD.
I like Joyce, but Fury would dance rings around him and jab his head off for a fairly comfortable points win, or Fury could jump on him (as he did in the second fight with Wilder) and blast him out.
Now before anyone says Fury isn't a big hitter, he doesn't have to be. Sheer volume of punches could make the ref jump in and bring it to an end.
Joyce's BIG problem is he's a very slow starter with little or no defence, unless he acquires head movement and a higher guard his shortcomings will be ruthlessly exploited when he moves up in class.....The writing is on the wall.
Can I see Joyce fighting for a world title? Absolutely in the current climate. Will he win a world title? I doubt it unless there is radical improvement in his skill set, and time is against him.
No heavyweight fight id rather see more. I think fury absolutely embarrasses AJ but I could also see AJ pulling a hail Mary out his ass outta desperation and buzzing or dropping Fury for a little scare.
Fury by Lopsided decision or late KO - only because I feel like AJ has enough fundamentals to survive into the late rounds whereas wilder was just getting hit with damn near everything Fury threw at him
Don't know if Fury can demolish Joshua in a round, but as I've mentioned before, he can definitely get the W. Just in general, Fury seems more sturdy than Joshua. Anthony gets smashed and dropped harder than Fury ever has. And we see vs Ruiz 1 he never really recovered from the first knockdown. Meanwhile, Fury was ready to go last round vs Wilder 1... even making Wilder hold on that round. Not saying it's written in stone, but IMO this will be a massive win for Fury... putting him in the drivers seat for however long he decides to remain in the sport. And it will be a massive fight card for the fans.
Maybe not a round but who knows, AJ’s chin isn’t the best and doesn’t recover from shots well and has some quit in him.
Say what you want about Wilder but he toughs is out if hurt, like Fury.
AJ spat out his gum shield and quit v Ruiz. If you do it once, you’ll do it again. If Fury puts it on him early, AJ will fold again.
Fury does everything better than AJ. Maybe AJ has better once punch power but even that’s overrated.
You need more than that to beat Fury. AJ is too textbook and stiff. Tailor made for the Gypsy King.
All pretty valid points. Fury has the nous to grab and hold if he gets hurt, Frank Bruno MK II just stiffens up when he's clipped.
Joshua rematch coming up and Fury/Wilder mandatory against Whyte.
Fury vs Whyte? Fury boxes his head off, comfortable points win for Fury, and possibly a late stoppage.
Wilder vs Whyte? Wilder sparks him out inside eight rounds.
Yep, billions of pounds to Ukraine when our own country is on its arse, what a joke.
Indeed. Anyway, back on track, 'VERY Dubois vs Usk'.............Why? I'll have a little wager that Usk wouldn't lose any sleep over fighting Dubious.
I wouldn't think many people hate Andy Ruiz. Many are just disappointed in how he prepared for the second fight.
EXACTLY.
Or how he didn't prepare? The added weight might not have had too much of a detrimental effect on his hand speed, but it seems it didn't help his footwork.
He needs to shed a few pounds and come in to his next fight a little lighter than he was for his first fight with AJ.
He also needs a very credible scalp on his CV to force a third fight with AJ or a fight with Wilder.
Did i ask or make a prediction of how the fights would go for you to reply? I said what i thought will be the next fights, WBC will order a mandatory.
FFS, whats your problem? You made a post about a POSSIBLE upcoming fight and I have given my take on it SHOULD it materialise. So what is your problem?
From a business perspective a rematch with Naoya Inoue makes sense, from a health perspective getting your lights put out in potentially brutal fashion doesn't.
Latest news is that DDD suffered a broken eye socket and nerve damage last night.
So that might be a slow ponderous jab that JJ possesses, but it's certainly powerful.
Well I am embarrassed. I had no idea Kell Brook turned pro at 16. Thanks.
The fight was in 2012 when Brook was 25 - 26? Brook won on points. Brook stopped Jones in their second fight.
Having watched his last fight, he's not going to make it very far. I doubt he'll even win a British title.
^^^^
This.
And what's all this BS about?......
'After a long layoff, during which time he has become a reality TV star and household name, questions of ring rust are only natural but Tommy is adamant he is approaching the fight like a true professional.'
Who's household is that? His own?
I couldn't be described as an AJ fan but I only see him winning this by a comfortably margin, and more than likely by a brutal KO.
Usk has underwhelmed at heavy, he looked uncomfortable against Chisora in the early rounds when Chisora took the fight to him, when he has to fight the much heavier handed and busier Joshua then I just see him falling apart.
