Could we have another sub-190 pound heavyweight champion of the world ?
Perhaps someone who is short and is very muscular and has great power at that weight, fighting a swarming/peekaboo style who walks around at like 210+ ?
Considering most HWs now weigh AT LEAST 220 pounds you are talking about - again at the very least - a 30 pound difference. That's immense. When you factor in Joshua weighed in at 250 pounds vs. Klitschko ... then we're talking about a difference of 70 pounds. That's why fighters around 180 pounds stick to cruiserweight as suggested by another poster above. That level of weight difference is borderline murderous.
What's with all the hatred? Fury outboxed Wilder and should have won on points. If he didn't get up in the 12th, it's a Deontay victory but that's not what happened. Showboating? It's part of boxing and widely used. It's OK not to like this or that boxer, but over 12 rounds Fury outfought Wilder last night and everybody knows it.
Being relaxed is good, you don't want to be tight especially with the style Fury needs to bring.
You're right. As soon as they were both in the ring, Fury got his game face on anyway. Let's go!
... and if I try to say something in AJ's "favor" I'd say that he just crumbled under the pressure of "coming to America"... :)
Objectively, few great fighters crumble as surprisingly as that. Joshua will need a sustained second coming to remain credible in the heavyweight division because right now his name ain't worth so much (relative to yesterday).
Ugh... Fury doing the female rap motions made me uncomfortable...
LOL He's quite the character ... Can't help but think he should be a little more focused though. Big test coming up!
What a cowardly way to go, man. Take the 5 minutes to recover and then retire at the end of the round if you need to... Jeez ... and at least be HONEST about being outboxed. No shame in losing but this guy found an excuse to quit and blamed his opponent. Lost a lot of respect for Khan tonight after supporting him during the fight.
Terrible, terrible decision. Fury won fair and square. Honestly, that's the problem with not knocking out your opponent in boxing. Props to Wilder for the two knockdowns but on points the fight is entirely Fury's.
He was smiling and jumped back up right after the 10 count. Looks like he didn't want to continue.
Seems like Wellborn could've got up but didn't want to continue. That was the impression I got. It wouldn't have been easy, but seems like it was within his reach and he opted to just finish the fight then and there.
If it was the contender testing positive for banned substances instead of cash-cow Valdez, you can bet your backside Conceição would've been sent back to Brazil. Valdez cheated and should not have been able to fight. Moreover, Robson schooled him and earned at least a draw. So it's a double whammy of boxing corruption which is understandable considering Valdez is considered a very profitable fighter for Bob Arum.
Joshua, in my opinion, took the loss to get a widely watched rematch à la Lennox Lewis. Wins that, triumphs over adversity and then it's cash + business as usual. That or he got his ass handed to him. Need to rewatch the fight before I make my mind up!
... No, kid... just NO!... :) ... you don't get floored four times and quit only in order to get a "widely watched rematch"... :)
Although I agree my sheer disbelief had me questioning rational facts. Joshua got terribly whooped. No other way of looking at the fight.
I agree. Something definitely wasn't right about his reaction.
Amir Khan 100% quit vs Crawford, and even he managed to pretend to 'protest' the stoppage a little bit.
Exactly. Who celebrates with the winner after losing their biggest fight ever? Terribly embarrassing!
Deontay looks like a ****ing human-sized crow. Enjoy his boxing but this whole full-blown movie costume **** is ridiculous. Let's get this fight going!

Did you read the full post Mr. Popsecu sir? Cos' that sure would've saved time for the both of us. I'll add the excerpt in question below for your convenience:
"... That OR he got his ass handed to him. Need to rewatch the fight before I make my mind up!"
Do you know what I'm doing now? Rewatching the fight!
Sweet Jesus. What's up with the level of rabid hate when discussing who is a better boxer? Canelo needs more convincing victories than what he did versus GGG and Jacobs before being considered a clear-cut #1. You could argue he is #1 right now but it's not CLEAR. Rosenthal even says Canelo could makes this happen in the next couple of fights ...
It’s funny how up in arms the racist portion of Canelo’s Hispanic fanbase and Floyd fanboys get over Canelo. Nobody is saying he’s a bad fighter but you racists are so bitter and immature you get on the offense and assume the worst of people if they don’t give in to your hero worship. You guys have crazy insecurities and agendas that are tiresome and have made this place by far the worst forum on the Internet. More than half of the threads are drying and agenda based you don’t see fans of Lomachenko or Crawford, the two best pound for pound having to force these opinions down throats because they are content.
Great post man! Exactly how I feel about it.
