but Froch must remeber one thing it's fine to say Groves needs bigger test but he tried the same thing with Calzaghe where Calzaghe was coming to the end of his career and seeking career defining fights and Froch then started to throw his toys out the cot so he needs to give Groves his chance before retiring.
Exactly and if you look at the 'tests' Froch is talking about Groves needing then Groves's record now is better than Froch's was up to 2008 when Calzaghe retired and Froch and been nagging him for a long time. He is right, however, Groves needs a few tougheners first, especially after relative inactivity with Warren
"Is it too much too soon?" Is this writer having a laugh?! No need to worry on that score as Price won't be going anywhere near a world title until the Klits have gone. Whenever you hear Price talk all he bangs on about is 'long learning processes' and about being at least '12-18 months from being ready' on his winding journey. If the Klits are still around this time next year you can be sure Price will still be at least another '12-18 months' from being ready then too. Or '5 fights' was the most recent quote
Reading Ali's reminisces today about what it was like fighting Joe Frazier makes this author's recent piece about his HOF-worthiness even more ridiculous.
I don't often agree with Mayweather but he's spot on about this 'Son of God' pious facade. Ward is the dirtiest fighter in the game today ffs!!! And his love of fighting at home in California - hmm maybe that has something to do with the 'vitamins' he gets off Conte and Cali slackness in testing. Rather incredible that cut he got from the inside of a hradguard to delay the Froch fight which was outside of Cali for once wasn't it!!!!
I was agreeing with tis article until reading the bit 'Dawson is a better technical fihter than Calzaghe'. Lol!! Dawson was out on his feet in the last round against Tarver even though Dawson had himself dominated the fight. Calzaghe would monster him and I have a feeling that if Hopkins got punches in like Tarver did in the last round or so without doing much then Bernard will clean him out too
Nice to see a properly balanced article rather than some of these ridiculous pieces proposig Pac to be Ali, Tyson and Sugar Ray all rolled into one. He's a very good fighter who has had his fights very carefully selected for him at different weights, such as against an immobile punchabg like Diaz and an ageing businessman. He couldn't conclusively beat Marquez and hasn't cleaned out a division like Calzaghe who has never been beaten, whilst the great Pac has been sparked out twice, in the first instance by the 'great' Medgoen Singsurat.
Another good read Cliff. It's always amusing to read some of the comments on various forums and the level of idiocy that is out there. People stating that Calzaghe only faced '21 bums' are cearly clowns who are beyond educating. Look forward to the next article.
Looks like the booze might finally have got to Pavlik's last remaining brain cell. He is certainly deluded if he thinks he has greater pull than Kessler has with his European fanbase. Kessler also has a win over Froch in his last 2 fights and fought back after the Ward fight. Pavlik is still nowhere
I would say Ricky Burns might have had grounds to do so, like Tony Bellew did.
Yes he does. Ricky Burns works in sports shop on weekends to make ends meet. Warren is full of sh*T and a disgrace.
This could end up getting very interesting but the longer this drags out, the more it effects Burns career.
Frank has already admitted holding back purse money to try and get Burns to sign a new contract. Game over. Burns has no worries and Warren is just doing this to show his remaining fighters he still means business.
One senses Arum had all the promotional arrangements in place for the rematch a long time before the fight. Just trying to blow people off the trail with this bull**** call for an inquiry when he knows there will never be one.
That was Kessler's 49th fight opposed to Froch's 33rd. Given Kessler's prior serious eye damage and the fact he is not getting any better then he should call it a day
What is of more concern is that somebody's name can be appear in public documentation like this without even being charged, let alone prosecuted. Disgraceful. Seems to be no such thing as innocent until proven guilty. A person should have the right to anonymity until that guilt is proved, especially when it is one private party accusing another.
Amazing that Ward hasn't fought in Vegas or New York yet isn't it!! Instead he fights exclusively in California unless forced to (Super Six final) and works with Conte. Mayweather fights exclusively in Vegas earning big bucks under the stricter auspices of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and is a proponent of Olympic style testing to eradicate cheats from the sport. There's one good guy in their argument and it isn't the two faced 'Son of God'
Just wanted to say brilliant article Cliiff. One of the best I've read in a long time, especially when there's so much unbalanced rubbish flying around these days on the net in particular.
