Does anyone know when tickets go on sale?
Hi all!
Does anyone have an idea of when tickets go on sale for the fight? Is there a way to sign up for MGM ticket alerts? 2 friends and I are flying over from Ireland for fight week and are keen to secure tickets.
I should add that, although I am a huge boxing fan and a daily visitor to this website, this is my first time posting. Personally, I find that all the talk of 'pactards', 'flomos', and 'haters' to be mind-numbingly tedious, and it appears that this small minority let down the majority of posters, who engage in intelligent, balanced boxing arguments. Boxing appears to be a sport that induces people to speak extremely disparagingly and negatively about the fighters, if they show even a hint of weakness. I find it really frustrating!
An example is when Sergio fought Paul Williams for the first time. Instead of people praising both fighters for a great effort and battle, comments like 'Williams got exposed', 'He's a punk' etc were all too common. These guys put their lives on the line for our entertainment and sometimes fans can be too harsh on them. Guys like Kermit Cintron and Zab Judah deserve criticism, because they bring the sport into disrepute with their cheating antics, but I really think that boxing fans in general are far too negative and critical of the combatants. Even after reading through this thread, I can see comments dismissing Cotto and ridiculing Mayweather for 'running away' during fights. This is all ridiculous, bitter nonsense. Well, that's my rant over hehe. Are there any boxing fans out there who agree with me on this??
Peace
Jack
Pacquiao/Cotto 24/7
In terms of sheer entertainment value on 24/7, neither Cotto nor Pacquiao hold a candle to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He constantly seeks to entertain and is a naturally funny man. I know a lot of people will continue to disparage him regardless of how he behaves or peforms in the ring, either because they are covert racists or because they simply don't understand/can't appreciate a boxing genius. People love to hate Floyd, but there's no escaping the fact he is the most talked about and most hotly debated boxer on the planet. This is because of his awesome boxing skills and larger than life personality. Pacquiao and Cotto are fairly likeable guys, but in terms of charisma, they are sorely lacking and the results can be clearly seen on the 24/7 series.
Favourite boxers of all time
1)Floyd Mayweather Jr
2)Bernard Hopkins
3)Roy Jones Jr
4)Jermain Taylor
5)Marco Antonio Barrera
This article is appallingly written: how any self-respecting 'writer' could pen the first paragraph of this article without using a single punctuation mark is completely beyond me. Pitiable stuff. I guess that's why he's an Internet hack.
OK. When we say, 'poetry in motion', we refer to an act or action so beautiful, it is as though poetry is becoming alive. You cannot refer to a written article as 'poetry in motion', as the words are prone on the page they are written/typed on. Sorry I had to pull you up on that. And to the idiot who claims Floyd only likes to beat on smaller men, Money has went up in weight 5 different times to win world belts so your comment is entirely fatuous and without justification. Shit, I love boxing but it's just a shame that almost everyone who posts on this site is a ****ing numskull
Well said, sir.
This article has left me absolutely fuming. I am flabbergasted by Fitzsimmons' arrogance and lack of sensitivity. He is so smug and self-congratulatory, name-dropping throughout and casting himself as the definitive authority on boxing. Boxing is a sport predicated on respect for, and between fighters, and this guy is way out of line with his comments.
His writing skills are average at best. I could forgive him for this innate lack of talent if it were not for the cruelty he displays towards Arturo Gatti. What gives him the right to dismiss Gatti in such an abusive, hurtful manner?
"Gatti's old lady killed him and Gatti killed the Hall of Fame". That is an appallingly insensitive and cruel comment - one of the most inappropriate and humourless comments I think I have ever read. Indeed, the article, aside from its coldness and sadism, is also wholly unfunny. Where to begin with the line about strangling someone with a handbag strap? Is this how he thanks Gatti for thrilling fans throughout his career and devoting himself to his craft, while bravely battling all manner of personal problems throughout his life?
Mr Fitzsimmons is clearly someone who craves controversy. I hope he understands that the boxing fraternity, no matter how many paychecks he receives, and how many legendary boxers he pathetically name-drops (Floyd, Hagler, Ray Leonard etc), does not need nor want people of his ilk associated with the sport.
Arturo Gatti may not be a hall-of-fame fighter, but his contributions to the sport of boxing are to be celebrated and admired, not derided and scoffed at. He certainly does not deserve for B-Level internet hacks to make snide remarks about his untimely and tragic death.
I will finish by saying that you, Mr Fitzsimmons, would not have been fit to lace up Arturo's gloves.
RIP Arturo Gatti.
