Just read in 2017 or 18 Ring article that Compubox, apparently a small co in a small town which didn’t send its 2 button pushers; ie not trained, exp’d judges mind you, to Australia for Pacquiao Horn. Why? “Too expensive” to fly there according to its admin or owner. When questioned by Michael Rosenthal, Editor of The Ring, his comment included defense about testing, watching on television versus being at ringside where they can see punches, clearer, and certainly hear them. “Tests came out the same” according to Compubox. Really? Can I please see any documented reports, videos, stats on that? I wonder if Mr. Rosenthal requested any of this? I can imagine he would’ve if he’s any kind of a journalist or editor worth his salt, no? OK, at least actual judgment is not dependent upon this bullshit. But, what’s necessary here is to know that a human being, pressing buttons is a similar issue as a judge, checking the piece of paper. The “CompU” part in Compubox Is simple, simple, tali- ation of statistics from the same, if not even less input, then if written on a piece of paper. In fact, utilizing trained boxing people, and then recording the same information on all statistics currently available through Compubox should yield much more accurate statistics, get it? That is, unless these button pushers are some somehow trained by some form of authoritative boxing professionals to push those buttons and report as accurate as anyone else who would be trained properly for such a task. Who are their button pushers trained by? And, what % of Compubox stats depend on these Butt-Pushers in front of TV screens?

The simplest and most accurate way

Repeat: the most accurate way, for a ratio of underdogs who win is the simplest way. Just take total number of bouts were there was a favorite, i.e. an underdog. Now divide the number of underdogs by the number of those total bouts. That’s it. Of course other statistics can be considered but that’s an overall bottom line which can be done over a period of many years. You can assume that’s most exact.

Porter is great but everything is relative. Compared to Crawford Porter will become the 2nd string opponent he is. Speed, technique & pure amateur breeding shall overcome Porter’s robust heaviness.

Spence vs Crawford? Joshua vs Fury? Davis vs any top 5? Teo vs any top 5... Usyk vs Fury is good news but could you imagine a fans strike until logical matches occurred? I wonder if THAT kind of group could be built? Like a boxing fan club.

So if sanctioning bodies or fans won’t force Canelo to fight whom we want, forget bs titles. Bivol Beterbiev is great & is for titles. Benevidez in that mix is great. Crawford & Boots & Tank & Ryan Garcia & Usyk, etc can be exiting with or without bs titles. We want competition, not necessarily belts.

We’ll, what else could Leave It To Beterbiev do? (Ok, for you youngsters look up Leave It To Beaver, an old sitcom)… But seriously folks, no one is close to him, so might as well play with Joe Smith from LI until he’s bored. Then just knock him out too, right? And Oh, if you say Canelo I’ll say yellow. And seriously again, if any LH’s could box (defensively) there’d be a fair match, but none know how to. In his day Hopkins or Jones or Tarver or even the older Sugar Ray Leonard would enjoy teaching this Slavic maverick how to chase. Oh well! We’ll watch it anyway even if we know the outcome, right?

If Turki wishes to be legitimate and bring that to Boxing, it would be much more honest to let both these jokers dress as clowns. I really really mean that. Will they? Continued on Crawford ruining Spence: the reason why Crawford ruined Spence, destroyed him, most likely, blew his whole career out the window.… Because Spence was that great, that popular, that experienced, that confident before their clash. We’ve all seen it happen before. Spence will not quit fighting. Spence will continue, but he will never be the same. In fact, the accident prepared him to be ruined by Crawford, who finished the job. I certainly wish Spence well, he’s certainly formidable, respectful, classy and likable. But, sometimes the underdog, who is not respected, who goes his own way, who follows his own regime, who doesn’t fall to the powers that be actually does get his due respect. Crawford proved that. It usually doesn’t happen. Usually the powers that be, the promoters, management, industry, media, beat you down. Crawford keeps me being a believer, that I too, can stand up for myself. I’m not denying the King BS but we all may agree that FKR can certainly entertain me (probably you too)… Of course we want Fury vs Usyk, Spence /Crawford or Canelo / Beterbiev. But to a large degree King has figured out how to get our attention; even with stupid, low end, tomato cans. If Crawford could pull off a KO of Porter that would be the ultimate calling card for Spence: Stand up to the line sucka! You next. OK Spence’s eye is damaged for a while. But- Hey Errol! You can run but how long must you hide. Jules Lupowitz’ Prediction: Unanimous for Crawford vs Porter with Errol’s team disallowing him to jump onto a Terrance challenge. Has anyone actually came out and said that this Turki, “his excellency” appears to be intimidating everyone with nothing more than money power? Has anyone tried to make fun of him or are they worried that this oh so powerful money behind some type of protective Arabian army is going to come, get you and hurt you? I too feel intimidated to say anything wrong, even about a turkey. Good, honest, fun or camaraderie it’s always part of being famous. No disrespect meant, of course.

Of all this non-sensical legal jargon and back and forth accusations the only thing that will remain - regardless of the outcome - is the fact that Garcia beat Haney senseless, exposing him as the over-rated, path-of-least-resistance belt holder that he was. OK, if you know specifically what this banned PED does. Be wonderful if they could have a rematch we’re both agreed to take the exact same PED and can be tested as such and then fight. Then it would be fair. Until then, unless you knew medically, what that particular drug can do, your opinion has no value. More real is a rematch where VADA checks both of them to be clean. I also agree that many times legal disputes, rules and regulations are overbearing. Abusive. However, there are reasons that laws and rules are in place. In this case, it does not seem unfair that Haney should defend himself legally notwithstanding have a rematch that is fair.

Scheming has been part of sports early on. Unwritten rules included checks in hockey, elbows in basketball, face mask grabs in football, etc when not seen or caught. Boxing has its low blows, head buts, rabbit punches, etc which fall through the cracks. In that sense cheating can actually be considered a skill and part of the game. Just have to get away with it. In the long run, nobody Really gets away with it. A more experienced, knowledgeable audience can notice and talk about it. And, in that sense, media is no different. Information that is published can be slanted, downright corrupt. Anyone who knows Boxing well also knows all title belts and sanctioning bodies for practical purposes have been corrupt from the beginning. The Ring belt, from what I understand came about for that reason. But I agree with our writer: in the long run, you can’t necessarily stop that. Why? To me it apparently is part of human existence. Maybe when Darwin coined, “survival of the fittest” he may have known that does not mean the, “honest”.

I got mixed feelings on this turki dude. Its nice to see big fights happening more often, and im a big fan of the Ring ****zine hard copies. However, he is acting very authoritarian like. People calling him "His excellency", man if you call him that you are weird asf. Lot of folks are bending the knee to him, and now with him buying and controlling the media, he has bigger ambitions I whole heartedly agree. We’re all for top competition w/ legit fighters. It’d be wonderful if Turki’s investments cleaned up boxing. And built it up. If revamping boxing legitimately is the goal and it really happens, we can celebrate. But with history (overall, in general, not just boxing) as we know it, many may sense some underlying ultimatum, maybe bigger that boxing or even sports… I personally believe in good prevailing over evil, ergo I am hopeful. For now we might as well be content with better boxing matches…

I don’t know what the FK u guys are talking about between loosing by decision or KO. But this subject at hand, Porter vs Crawford is about a journeyman with class, Porter vying to beat a champ in Crawford with more class. That won’t happen. The opportunity is for Bud to KO this tough contender who nobody else could stop. Not sure if he’ll pull it off but Bud, a schooled, groomed, talented, killer will definitely beat Sean, the X football dropout.

It’s very easy to criticize great powerful people. Facts are it’s always been a rough, tough playing field to lead a nation or country. Heck, most people have trouble leading as politicians, big corporate worlds, big & small businesses, notwithstanding families and unlimited groups of all sizes & types. So? I may kid around or poke silliness at various great champs, their management, ruling bodies of boxing or even world leaders. But it’s worth clarifying that these forces always were here, in all shapes & forms. Turki Alalshikh is an example: People benefit by his boxing & other great entertainment he buys. Many may speak or write about him, negatively. Some referring to him as, “His Excellency”. More than likely he’s produced more good than bad on this earth. Regardless of how that’s achieved, the job’s getting done.

Larry Holmes vs George Foreman. For real, now at their current ages. Don King and Bob Arum wil co-promote it. Referee? Turki Ahlahsheek complete with head towels and dark glasses. Cornermen? Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Honestly, guys, if we want to be entertained, I’m pretty sure this would work.

I like Thurman but he had or has some physical or medical issue(s). Maybe he got old? Crawford’s getting old too but boxed fresh against Porter, finished him better than Thurman when all were younger. Crawford’s better & has much more gas left. Probable late TKO by Bud.

I can understand why commentators like Shawn Porter usually provide a positive feel towards a competitive as well as non competitive fight. Much more of that is happening these days because of the shrinking size of the serious Boxing community. Therefore, I don’t disrespect it. As far as Giovanna Davis‘s claim that he’ll retire after this, that too is an old tactic, if not an old belief of a boxer who is still healthy and worth big money claims to want to retire. Sometimes they do. But not for long. They come back for a number of reasons, mostly money oriented, notwithstanding them BSing, the media or themselves.

As long as we don’t organize, group up & revolt in some way Arum, Hearns, ESPN, DAZN, etc. won’t care when we moan, groan, bitch or complain. About visual clarity, about competing opponents, etc, etc: We know this. So? Since our whining, griping & shouts aren’t about to form into any form of powerful protest, we might as well enjoy these grumbles. We could laugh em off.

In his prime, in his glory days, between 19 and about 23 years old, Mike Tyson is untouchable. Possibly Joe Louis or Cassius Clay may’ve gotten decisions. Maybe. OK, this probably isn’t targeting these champ’s primes. Why not? Isn’t that when they all were at their peak?

Ok. Zhang follows a known path: Hrgovic’ is likely a formidable if not of great amateur pedigree as all from obscure places are now loading our previously (mostly) American ranks. That’s due to our USA amateur system’s collapse as has been for a while. Certainly these men, previously from Cuba, African territories, Slavic states, Scandinavian, etc were good, sometimes great but unrecognized in the past. Now with modern travel & communication these locals like Croatia in Hrgovic’s case are less obscure. So what do I see our traditional American champs’ teams doing about that? Running like hell! Like little, cottled, protected, groomed chumps our, “proud” heavy hitters’ teams steer clear of them. Can’t blame em either. Too much money at the top today & too little on the way up for mgt to risk ANYTHING as they did in the past. Can you say Charles Martin? How the Fk he ever became a contender let alone title-ist is pure positioning & managerial bobbing & weaving … minimal hard-core athletic training, fighting & risking as the true, USA used to stand for. A smart, confident, lighth heavy like Spinks or Moorer would get under Hrgovic’s hard, aimed yet thuggish shots, get around him or spin him, make him miss, keep out of range, don’t let him get ANY momentum. A true “boxing prof’l” as our (not too long ago) previous greats would decision Hrgovic’ or even TKO his ass. Beterbiev is another superior from Slavic decent who is ABSOLUTELY being sucked by Canelo (Ok, he’s Mexican but for practical purposes he’s a USA champ)…

Regarding Haney, Turki Alalshikh and especially Broner: Controversial events will always interest us fans as some of us would comment. Our hope is Turki will build up boxing to new levels of entertainment or at least accelerate competitive matches. Consistently, like the old days. My compassion (an emotion) is to forgive Turki and his Excellency’s regime for any and all past actions we consider as wrong, bad, evil, controlling, arrogant, etc… Reading a recent post from The New Arab Staff, apparently from journalists, it states”: “…..,with a figure as powerful as Turki Alalshikh posting photos of him, it could point to Riyadh no longer worrying about any pushback on the murder of Khashoggi or any of its vast human rights abuses. That competition was what our, “old days” provided. The future will always move forward, we can’t go back but it’s probable that funding our top players only with no concern for where they came from, what created and developed them, ie the sport itself likely will destroy what’s left of it. For now, we can see that similar attitude, of abuse if not total annihilation of boxing as what apparently occurred to people or groups from scandalous activities of this regime historically… on a positive note I personally hope that the Turki regime plans to actually come to the aid of boxing in general and not just squeeze the last bit of lemon juice from our juiciest lemons. ​

Andrade is barely known relevant to his ability & record. Why is that? Are all highly known titleholders & teams that scared? Why can’t his mgrs or title organizations move Andrade into decent / reasonable positions, ie how did he not become mandatory for at least 1 belt by now? What’s the factual story?
