Wilder might wanna start thinking about fighting someone else, he's not doing himself any favors waiting on Joshua.
Joshua can fight Povetkin, Chisora would probably do good numbers after his KO of Takam, now Usyk is calling him out, and next year the Gypsy King himself might think he's knocked all the rust off.
Who's Wilder got knocking on his door? Brazeale?
Anybody heard anything about Jermall Charlo recently??
Where is Jermall Charlo hiding???
The Charlo twins are usually the loudest on social media and now that GGG needs a good replacement they are quiet?
Maybe I am just missing something.
Isn't Jermall fighting Centeno (who lost to the guy Jacobs is fighting)? I think a Jacobs rematch would be tougher than Charlo and Andrade, and I think Jacobs would beat either of those two. Andrade hasn't got the power to keep GGG cautious, and tbh Charlo's opponents don't exactly make me sit up and take notice.
Not the best ever, but going 8-0-1 against the 20 best of the past 10 years is actually pretty excellent....
During the past 10 Years:
2013 - 2023
1. Tyson Fury
2. Deontay Wilder
2. Deontay Wilder
2. Deontay Wilder
3. Oleksandr Usyk
4. Wladimir Klitschko
5. Anthony Joshua
6. Zhilei Zhang
7. Andy Ruiz Jr
8. Luis Ortiz
9. Alexander Povetkin
10.Dillian Whyte
11.Joe Joyce
12.Daniel Dubois
13.Filip Hrgovic
14.Jarrell Miller
15.Joseph Parker
16.Kubrat Pulev
17.Otto Wallin
18.Frank Sanchez
19.Robert Helenius
20.Derek Chisora
20.Derek Chisora
20.Derek Chisora
Lol those bolded names are not “pretty excellent.”
That's because the drug testing community wasn't aware of the drug's rampant abuse or its performance-enhancing ability.[/
So say they fought prior to the ban and Povetkin won, would you look at the win as tainted?
I agree with this comment to some degree, Mickey Mouse Garcia is the slippery cheese hungry rat mascot of PBC, however, Its clear Lomachenko fans don't want Vasyl to fight Teofimo Lopez.
I absolutely want to see him fight Lopez. Lopez hasn’t fought anybody remotely close, he’d get a lesson.
Loma isn’t getting beaten unless he moves up again, maybe.
don't see the point of that. there's no reason to change the gloves if there's no grappling...and a cage offers benefit without clinching/dirty boxing etc.
I think they mean the pillows at the end of their arms they use to block shots with.
Not even close to how long GGG's been at MW. Which is like birth.
Lol fair enough. That said, all that proves is that the guy is a natural MW. 30 days out he's only like 8lbs over, can't say the same about Canelo, dude's got a serious aversion to scales.
After this carefully planned announcement I can't trust what's said to the media by these promoters anymore.
That said, IF what Canelo has been saying about the WBC is true, not having the WBC belt on the line should have no impact on this fight going forward, unless the WBC gets butthurt and tries to make GGG fight Heiland.
Well Canelo landed MORE shots and threw FEWER in the 1st fight.
Typical gennady stan - till death do us part
Canelo landed 169/505 punches, GGG landed 218/703. Google it.
No fighter has ever come from being hugely overweight, alcohol abuse, drugs, depression, and made it back to the top and Fury is far from the exception. History is littered with examples and the fighters ended up embarrassing themselves and retiring. This is exactly what is going to happen if he even fights again and even that is clearly not a given. It's over.
Tapia man!
Charlo might be waiting a while for GGG.
If GGG beats Canelo, Canelo will exercise his rematch clause (maybe for cinco de mayo).
If GGG beats him a second time, GGG is gonna want a unification with Saunders (or whoever has the belt if Saunders loses it by then) in August or September.
Charlo might be waiting until December 2018 to fight him, he's gonna HAVE to fight Jacobs, Johnson (as a stay-busy), or Lemieux (if Canelo doesn't line him up first) in that time.
Manny isn't the same as he used to be, but he's still very good. Since his '05 fight with Morales (if you don't count the robberies against Bradley and Horn) he's gone 23W 2L against Matthysse, Horn, Vargas, Bradley, Mayweather, Algieri, Rios, Marquez, Mosley, Margarito, Clotty, Cotto, Hatton, DeLa Hoya, Barrera, and Morales, losing only to Mayweather and Marquez (two hall of famers). That's only the tail end of his career, and he never looked bad in any of those fights.
He's not at the very top anymore, sure, but he's definitely not easy for anybody IMO.
I know GGG couldnt beat a guy coming up to a weight class he's stayed at for 10+ years...Thats sad
For real! He's been at that 155lb limit for a while! Oh wait...
So Jacobs lost a close decision to the best middleweight on the planet, and got knocked out 7 years ago, a week after his grandmother died by a guy who probably would be considered a top middleweight (had he not ruined his back). Doesn't take anything away from Jacobs' IMO.
Arias is no Pirog or Golovkin.
The writer of this article failed to note that Pedvetkin also violated VADA drug testing policies for ostarine as he prepared for Bermane Stiverne in a eliminator for Deontay Wilders WBC title ; the banned the world boxing council imposed on Alexander was lifted yesterday ( December the sixth. ) he will be ranked by January 2018.
Ortiz is probably going to come first considering the WBA suspended him....Wow! all these drug addicts are allowed to make millions and win world titles?! truly sad how much the public invest in this wretched division -- No wonder boxing is considered a joke compared to other American sports.
Lol yeah cause UFC fighters, cyclists, football and baseball players, etc. NEVER take steroids!
Salido is a good fight for Davis, he's older and slower but he's crafty/dirty and will be a good learning experience for Davis. If Davis gets past him, maybe 2 more legit fights and he'll be thinking he's ready for Loma.
Pacquiao looked strong and clearly had Matthysse flustered with his uppercuts and straight left. But as a huge Pacquiao fan I have to be honest with myself. I felt like Pacquiao looked lackluster. Matthysse looked shot, either that or really pissed that he couldn't get off. Pacman threw some solid punches and just when it looked like he was about to rev up fell short and resorted to throwing 2-3 punches at a time.
Pacquiao looked good in victory and he did well against someone his size that wasn't able to rough him around. But I can't help but wonder if this fight was makeup trying to cover up the real problem; Pacquiao's decline has accelerated after his Jessie Vargas win he's no longer an elite fighter. I hope he retires tbh as his fan. That's just my analysis.
I mean, if you give Manny credit for the wins he should've had over Horn and Bradley, his only 2 losses in the past 10 years or so was against Marquez and Floyd (not exactly "bums"). He's not the Manny of the past, no doubt about it, but I think his decline is being exaggerated a little bit.
That being said, I was suspicious of the two knees Lucas took; my view wasn't great but it looked like the punches that caused them barely connected. It's also possible that I have no idea what I'm talking about (it's happened before).
I disagree. Ortiz is the stronger, more durable and bigger puncher of the two.
I like Ortiz, I just think Povetkin fought better names. As for durability and strength, it's debatable, they both have nice highlights. FTR, I had Povetkin ahead 5-1 when Joshua stopped him.
Canelo vs ggg will more than likely happen in the fall. Ggg won't do good ppv numbers with anyone else and despite Canelo being the face of boxing right now, he isn't Floyd. He won't be putting up 1 mil ppv buys with anyone else other than ggg. The other big names in the mw division likely wouldn't even generate 500k buys vs canelo.
If Warren's right and Canelo gets a mandatory year, he won't be able to fight until the date of his failed test I think (mid-Feb?). So, Munguia, then Saunders Sept. 17, then Canelo May 5 for all the marbles?
I kinda feel bad for Horn, he's gonna be so far out of his depth. At some point in the middle-late rounds I can already hear myself saying "they should stop this, there's no point."
I think he will deserve 50 because Fury is a name among UK fans, no one knows who Povetkin is outside of the tightest of boxing circles. And Povetkin is not the 3rd best HW. Either Fury or Ortiz can claim that right now.
Right now, it looks like he already ducked. If you add to the equation that Wilder beat a named guy who is the best possible opposition then Joshua has to be more fair in his negotiations
I wouldn't sleep on Povetkin, dude can fight. IMO he's a top 3 atm (I think he's beaten better guys than Ortiz), and I'd favor him to beat Wilder.
My initial inclination is to think there's more to the story than Broner's explanation, but until all the facts come to light, I suppose anything is a possibility.
I reckon there will be around 10 promoters on the phone to Charrs people to get him against their guy.
We could see Charr in against the following next:
Dillian Whyte
Dominic Breazeale
Tyson Fury
Hughie Fury
Alexander Povetkin
Andy Ruiz jr
Jarrell Miller
Kubrat Pulev
Luis Ortiz
I would pick most of the above to beat Charr.
Povetkin already knocked him out.
