I swore to myself enough is enough - no more money shelled out for boxing. I lasted all of 2 days when i realised they were showing the Cotto fight and I really wanted to see it!
I know Derek a bit from training at Finchley, in fact I was there the first day he walked through the door and saw him pick boxing up from scratch. I can honestly say that in my experience, he was never a bully or a bad guy, in fact he was nice to have around, always cracking a joke and trying to skive a little, but supportive to his gym mates and and a good natured person. I think this statement is far more like the true Derek, the idea of him shooting anyone is ridiculous, he's no more a gangster than Barry McGuigan for example or many many boxers who devoted their life to training - he was just running his mouth off on pure adrenaline and dont forget Haye had just tried to beat him half to death. Moreover he's done himself immense credit in the ring and its amazing how far he's come. I just hope he keeps his head down now so that the general public at large can see him how he really is.
I love Manny, but he lost this fight.
Manny is my favourite fighter ever and I'd probably rather see his fights than any other fighter, but he lost this fight clearly. I didn't see him win one round decisively, there were a lot of close rounds, but he never hurt Marquez, he barely even hit him. I fear he's on the slide because that was the poorest performance by him since he lost to Morales, and even in the twelfth he couldn't muster any pace or punch volume. I really thought he should have just come out and said he didn't win - the final bell told it all, he didn't raise his hand or look anything except pissed off and defeated. I nearly didn't even watch the scores because I thought he lost by a mile, it's a scandal that he got the decision. I wanted him to destroy Marquez, shut him up once and for all, but the fact is he just can't beat his style and he's further away than ever. I truly believe his heart isn't in it anymore and that's why no finishes in his last four fights, he doesn't have that insatiable desire to destroy his opponent anymore. I hope he retires now before he gets a big beatdown - he'll go down as an all-time great, one of the best ever and maybe the most exciting fighter ever - but marquez is his nemesis, that's it and there's no shame in it, he's achieved so much and unfortunately I think Floyd is too big and crafty, but he'll never ever be as loved as pacman, or get the same level of respect for his heart and humanity.
those who believe marquez won should have go over the compubox stats and see for themselves that the decision was right, fair and just...
stats don't lie...
no doubt manny pacquiao wins...
Joshua was in no shape to spar that day
Have it on very good authority that the spar was the day after Joshua got nicked for weed. He’d spent all night or part of the night in cells, he then drove straight up to Sheffield and sparred Price. Hardly surprising he didn’t put up a good account of himself, his head was probably in bits. Course, this can happen when heavyweights spar anyway, just like when Josh nearly knocked Fury out of the ring in sparring, all adds to the intrigue, eh?
