Isnt that a Top Rank thing? not HBO.
I don't think that's HBO. I remember seeing the crowd very clearly during Mayweather-Mosley on IMAX. After Shane landed that big right hand, I remember I had my eyes on Mariah Carey, who was on her feet, the rest of the round. :boxing:
Good point. I think it's something Top Rank implemented because it wasn't used for the Mayweather-Ortiz PPV. Cotto-Margarito is a Top Rank card and it's gonna suck if they cover up the sold out crowd with that stupid light.
This is a good thing in my opinion. CBS reaches way more households then HBO and can draw in a lot more people who otherwise wouldn't be interested. We do lose the production value of HBO 24/7 but when it comes down to it, it's about the fights not the promo build up. How many times has a 24/7 been great but the fight itself was lacking?
Also it's a good thing HBO will now have some competition. Arum is taking a stable of good fighters over to Showtime, Pacquiao, Cotto, Juan Manuel Lopez etc and screwed with Golden Boy promotions and HBO at the same time. We know those two companies have been playing favorites with each other for a while now.
Good for Showtime, they have been showing quality boxing on the network for a long time even though they don't have the star power of HBO. I like Showtime cause they put on competitve fights and rarely ever do PPV. Been at least a couple of years since they've done a PPV event. Kind of reminds me of when Showtime scooped up Mike Tyson from HBO, who like Pacquiao was the biggest name in Boxing at the time.
What kind of illogical, egocentric, petty, nonsensical bullsh!t is this? This is almost a prime example of what's wrong with Boxing right now. Schaefer and DiBella put on a solid match-up between two good young fighters and the fight turns out to be great. Boxing promoters putting on evenly matched fights between two young exciting fighters is almost so out of the ordinary, they receive awards for it.
What exact did DiBella and Schaefer do to deserved an award from the crooked WBC? Oh yes, they did their jobs. DiBella and Schaefer's should be doing this every fight out. There jobs as Boxing promoters should be to promote and give fans match-ups like this on a regular basis. It's like finding a diamond in pile of sh!t. Solid match-ups in Boxing should be the norm, not such a rare occurrence in which it deserves awards and accolades.
