I kind of feel it should be obvious that they are trying to set up a Bute fight but the opportunity to get extra HBO exposure was there so they took it.

...the other part is, of course, WHO he is comfortable fighting.

Why not, since all 3 of those guys and a few others are super middles on fight night?
The reason why not is that we know none of those welters have fought any true 168 pounders.
And, as admirable as it might be to see those fights, no one would realistically expect the welters to win any of them.
So why do we expect a fighter who has never fought a single true middleweight to take his first foray into the 160 lb weight class by getting in against what many think is the best one out there?
This isn't Canelo's fault.
It is the fault of the sanctioning bodies which, thru catchweights, have allowed jr middleweights to own and retain the middleweight title since 2010.
And yes, it is also Golovkin's fault for not answering the challenge and going down to 155 to get it back.
155 is middle weight. There's no in between classes. If you're over 154 but below 161 you're a middle weight.

For those complaining about the attendance, it was announced at well over 6,000. Not saying that's spectacular but darn better than anyone thought.

Then lies and says he can beat them. If that were true he'd fight them for the major money he'd get with the deal they offered him. Instead Haye fights bums and then makes fun of the Klits for being dominant when they fight tougher guys than him.

This is no offense to NSB but I study the Bible and am aware of many things. I am certainly not saying anyone should go an get tattoos. And yes we are made after G-d's image so we shouldn't tattoo but the prohibition on tattoos really only applies to Jewish people not Gentiles. That being said, it's wiser to not get tattoos for many reasons and I'd prefer Ward didn't but I don't think it excludes him as a role model for G-d is all.

The problem with Ward is he has to dare to be great because there is nobody in and around his weight that can make him great which is unfortunate for him. Andre will never be considered truly great unless he does something out of the norm like going for a heavy-wt title. Roy did it, Mike Spinks did it, Evander did it,etc. won't be easy but other than that it's agree on a catch weight for Gennady or Martinez which still won't make him an all time great. People seem to forget that Floyd came up from 130 beating all the top dawgs they put in front of him and is still unbeaten. Intelligent fight people have no choice but to compare him to the All Time Greats.
Id' argue that he has already done very impressive things and is on his way to being an all time great. The issue is not being great. It's being popular.
In that scenario, this is good for Ward because Floyd, not known to always have the most exciting style as well, is being a mouthpiece for Ward in a way Ward won't be for himself.
May be this is the main issue for Haye. If Wlad fights Chisora first, then Haye has to pick up a fight with Chagaev. He will no longer be able to avoid his mandatory based on the fact that he has unification fight with Klitschko.
Say what you will about Chagaev's recent performance; but, he is the toughest challenge for Haye since his move to HW. Besides, brothers are used to fighting 2-3 times a year, Haye is not.
