I think there will be a lot of movement on the P4P list over the next year and a half. 2 of top 3 is looking for swan-song into retirements, while Inoue is setting up a top match against Nakatani, that will likely put him number 1 if he wins.
Bam, arguably is a clear number 4 at this stage. Destroying anyone the way he does is above what Bivol has done in a single division. I would put it like this right now:
1. Crawford
2. Usyk
3. Inoue
4. Bam
5. Bivol
6. Benavidez
7. Shakur
8. Beterbiev
9. Nakatani
10.
I would much rather Benny fight Opetaia. Outside of being heavier; Ramirez is a bum. Opetaia would be a much stiffer opponent for David Benavidez.
that will be next, he is fighting Zurdo because it will be a massive fight for the Mexican fans on Cinco de Mayo weekend and will boost his popularity. Then Opetaia next for the Ring belt.
I think for P4P lists, we should avoid looking to far back.. I think it should be limited to max last 3yrs, maybe only last 2yrs...
If we go in the middle and say 2023 to today we have the following overview:
Crawford:
TKO Spence
UD Madrimov
UD Canelo
Usyk:
KO Dubois
MD Fury
UD Fury
KO Dubois
Inoue:
TKO Fulton
TKO Tapales
TKO Nery
TKO Doheny
TKO Joon Kim
TKO Cardenas
UD Akhmadaliev
Based on this, I'd give the nod to Usyk, then Inoue, then Crawford. What hurts Crawford is the mediocre win over Madrimov and inactivity. Inoue is fighting 3/4 times a year going through everyone in the division. Crawford took 13 months off to bulk up and it's just less impressive in my opinion. I definitely think Crawford would hold his own in a P4P imaginary fight with the other two, but I don't want to reward inactivity.
I would therefor go with Usyk, Inoue, Crawford.
Disappointing that a legitimate contender would help validate this off brand low rent belt
Ultimately the Regular title is nothing more than a glorified mandatory position, but it is in-fact the Mandatory, so it is the easiest way to get a shot at the title right now.
Of course, It should have never been in the hands of someone of Pulev's level, but hopefully they can retire the title after the next Regular-Super fight, like they tried to do after Dubois, but then Charr won his legal case...
The towering bumferno. Burning his reputation. Held the belts hostage for over a year now, lost all momentum from the Tim tszyu victory, now going into a fight no one will watch against a complete unknown. By the time fundora fights a relevant opponent again it will be at least 2 years out from the tim tszyu win. He should be ashamed of himself
To be fair, Crawford also stalled him out a bit...
Okolie has been speaking of getting a shot at the WBC title. He needs to establish himself as someone who can fight quality HWs, so why tf is he fighting a cruiserweight coming of a loss? Really peculiar...
It would be a great great fight! Perfect for Jesse's career. But Martinez is no top P4P boxer, so it's not "one of the best fights in boxing". Jesse v Nakatani however.... :O
Moses is mixed Slovak-Nigerian
first time seeing this mix
the Russian-Korean has performed exceptionally well in boxing
Bivol is Moldovan-Korean if that is who you are referring to..
GTFO here man... How can you become WW Champion by beating Garcia in your only fight at the weightclass. WBA going to new lengths to show it's the shittiest organization
Teofimo was never undisputed.. what is this journalist saying. At 135, Haney was the WBC Champion, and at 140 Teofimo has only ever been WBO champ... This is just lazy reporting...
I mean Tszyu has been calling for the rematch every since the first fight.
I know he's coming off a brutal loss but he should be available come March and if Fundora had any bal*s, he'd honor his word and handshake deal that he apparently made after the first fight and give Tim his revenge!
Good point! Though I think Tim should probably take an easier match-up first to not risk losing 3 in a row...
You will lose that case. There's so much burden of proof you would need to find to even find proof of that relationship to trigger a lawsuit. There was a boxer in the 90s forgot his name but he was going to sue and win a lawsuit against an organization I believe it was the WBC and all thr boxers such as Roy Jones called him and told him to drop the case because it would bankrupt the WBC.
Oh no.. bankrupt WBC, what a shame... one less belt
This sucks, but has anyone actually called him out or tried to organize a fight with him other than Spence and Bohakchuk? Virgil Ortiz as the WBC Interim should be all over that?
+ Andy Cruz vs. Lomachenko/Tank
+ Moses Itauma vs. Any top 10 heavyweight, like Fabio Wardley, Otto Wallin, Deontay Wilder
+ Kenshiro Taraji vs. Galal Yafai
+ Bam Rodriguez vs. Fernando Martinez
+ Teofimo Lopez vs. Jack Catterall
+ Bakhram Murtazaliev vs. Sebastian Fundora
I feel like Sheeraz is the next Benavidez. Very tall and agressive. Will likely move up in weight classes over the next few years, but should push to become unified champ at 160 to grow his exposure.
Usyk has done all this things. But he has not made the tons of money his skills was worthy of. That is why he keeps on fighting, because now he is finally on top of the boxing world and gets richely paid for each fight...
Turki wants Crawford - Canelo to be for the Undisputed Championship. Canelo gave away the IBF to Scull last year so he could claim this fight with less scrutiny compared to if it was a title defense. It is not much deeper than that... Canelo will forever be ducking Benavidez btw. If it quacks, it's a duck
Not Benny or Canelo are even close to being my favourites but I am man enough to recognize and see a duck for what it’s worth
If it quacks, it's a duck
What is quite "sad" is that whether Bivol will fight Beterbiev or Benavidez next, the IBF will strip him for not fighting the mandatory Eiffert... He could take that fight as a "recovery fight" in the summer after 2 brutal 12 rounders against Beterbiev and then have a big clash with Benavidez, still as technical undisputed in Jan/Feb next year
