This was a really bad ending. Sio putt her hands down and it didn't seem to be from a head shot. She seemed in medical distress before the final few punches came in.
Navarette isn't a rule breaker at all. He has a nasty style, a style that he understands and his opponents don't. boxing isn't just basic and predictable, or textbook. There are so many layers and nuances that defy many people's idea of what is textbook boxing. Navarette is a looping puncher like a celestino caballero with a broken rhythm. He can suddenly change speed and is explosive. He's also accurate and intelligent. He has a lot of experience, and has been fighting in his style since he was a kid. Nothing he does is by accident or luck. He may look awkward, but he knows what he's doing, and when and when not to do things. He's a master of his style. He also has the advantage of having fought basic textbook boxers his entire life, but most people have never fought against someone with his style before. But looping punchers is not new to Mexico. You can go back to Gaspar Ortega to see the awkward looping technician, Daniel Zaragoza, Oscar Larios, Margarito and the list goes on
I also wanna point out that people who think Roy Jones jr was just fast but technically flawed, and his only attribute was speed, you're crazy!
He fights between the typical rhythm of a boxing match. SRR used to say boxing is a rhythm. Navarette is a like a hard bop jazz musician.
I can't wait until his "athleticism" and "IQ" converge when he is lying flat on his ass.
IQ: body! Get up your going to lose this boxing match.
Athleticism: you wait IQ when I get up in the morning Ima do the Ali Shuffle!!!
It would be perfect if Haney beats Kambosas and then loses to Loma. Loma Stevenson for all the belts would be great. Although Stevenson vs Haney is also a great fight, Haney's inability to crack is why I would prefer Loma.
I don't think there is that much debate about Crawford being number one. Inoue is #2 and the only reason in my opinion that it's not a 1a and 1b is Crawfords defense is better.
Strange, I don’t recall the same warnings for mayweather, jones, or Pacquiao. Seems to be a concerted effort to protect this fighter from losing
There is a term in sports called being a Unicorn. It means you are the exception to the rule. Pacquiao was a Unicorn. Inoue is not Pacquiao and there is no logical reason to compare them. Why not just acknowledge that what he's accomplished is fantastic and that as is the case with 99.9999 percent of boxers there are limits to how many weight classes they can jump.
First off excellent article. Having said that, Teo is in a serious mental health crisis and will need appropriate mental health support. He probably does not realize his father is toxic as they have been enmeshed for so long. Boxing is for so many a way out of incredibly difficult life situations and for many it has proved to be exactly what was needed. In this case, it seems boxing has been the cause of his problems. He's such a gifted fighter it's likely he can still have success but in all likelihood we may be telling the sad story of Teofimo Lopez. A man with promise who never reached his full potential.
Credit to Ryosuke he really came to fight. He handled Nakatani's power admirably. If not for his eye looking like a watermelon this would have been fun while it lasted. I want to see more of Ryosuke.
Interesting matchup.
I give the edge to Valdez in this fight.
Navarrete might be tall. But Valdez is the naturally bigger and more skilled of the two.
No way is this an easy fight for Navarrete.
Excellent matchup. Navarrete will need to be in better shape than his last fight. If he's well prepared this will be an awesome pick em fight. Does Valdez have the ability to knock out navarrete? I don't think so. Will Navarrete be susceptible to being out pointed? I think this is Valdez's best strategy. I'm thinking Navarrete comes in well prepared and eventually overwhelms Valdez in the later rounds.
Mind was shot as well. Respect to Teo. Teo has a very creative style. It will be interesting to see what happens against prograis and the other top dogs.
Not just clinical but critically very BORING and uninspiring.............
That's all I was thinking as I dozed off and realized I'll never stay awake for the main event. Shu shu is really calm and technically sound but my God he's boring!!!!
I gotta watch this fight soon. Based on CompuBox #s, Shu-Shu clearly lost.
I scored it a win for Segawa. Not sure what those judges were watching. Draw would have been the score if you wanted to say Carrington got the home love.
I respect Jake Paul for parlaying his Internet fame into a boxing show. Having said that, if you are a boxing fan this kind of profiteering is bad for the sport. Eventually the novelty ends and Paul will look somewhere else for easy money. All the fans that came along with him will disappear and boxing will be left cheapened further. Hard to imagine that being possible.
No big names for Xayas and suddenly he's fighting Ortiz? Baptism by fire.
This is similar to Schofield and shakur but Xayas is more developed imo. I like this for Xayas. 154 is a den of lions and he has to start somewhere.
Woke to this news and couldn't be happier. Lopez is an incredibly talented fighter but his need to be in the spotlight coupled with his terrible attitude makes him exhausting. He can't beat Taylor and who knows what lies ahead. No rematch Lopez should be what he is called from now on. A lesson in humility to follow him for the rest of his career
Good fight. Conceicao showed a lot of heart and his movement slowed navarrtte down. Draw seems ok. Not surprised it was a draw as navarrtte was not able to get as many punches in as he usually does. I hope navarrtte stays at 130.
After he fought a hard won bout against Baez, after he moved up I thought he looked rejuvenated despite getting knocked down by Liam Wilson and cardio wise looked good against Valdez.
But against Robson Conceicao he looked winded and fought in spurts. After the middle rounds. Same happened with Berinchyk. He showcased more boxing skills though.
He's not strong enough for 135. Let's see how he looks back at 130
Why in hell would Taylor agree to such a dumb idea. Teo is such a tool. Just move up weight classes as you have been saying you will need to do and fight the guy. He's gonna beat you anyways so either fight at lightweight and defend your belts or move up. The dude is exhausting.
