Teddy’s words about Tyson are definitely to be taken with a grain of salt. What most people consider to be his prime, he lost once.
Near his prime (what I hear often), he lost to Evander. No shame in that.
So, in or near his prime he lost twice. He was mentally weak but he was the youngest HW Champ ever. He still had to beat the guys that he did. He could’ve just folded himself and never become champion at that age.
That’s the BS in Teddy’s retelling of how Mike was as a fighter.
You don’t become thee champion in boxing in any division, especially at HW being mentally weak. If that’s the case, why doesn’t it happen more often?
If anything that’s an outlier. Not the norm.
Jermall Charlo definitely needs to fight another top middleweight. I would like to see him face Demetrius Andrade (who also needs a top opponent) or Sergey Deravyenchenko. Chris Eubank Jr. would also be acceptable. Actually any combination of those guys fighting each other would work for me.
Gervonta Davis still has time and the Abner Mares fight fell through so that wasn't entirely his fault. He does need to step it up though.
Terrence Crawford needs to do whatever it takes to get a top opponent. I don't care which "side of the street" it is. Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Jose Ramirez or Josh Taylor (if they move up from 140), I don't care what it takes but he needs a recognizable name in the opposite corner
Shakur Stevenson has plenty of time too and I think he will get there this year.
Ryan Garcia looks to be headed towards a clash with Jorge Linares and I hope it happens.
Devin Haney has time too and part of it is potential opponents using the excuse of "well nobody knows him" and "he needs to build his name up"
Agreed. It's Charlo, both of them. Especially for as much as they talk.
Any combination of top contenders at 54/60 for either would be great.
Crawford. Late stoppage/UD.
Crawford makes it a more tactical fight and outclasses Miguel.
Miguel doesn’t make great adjustments and needs his rhythm.
Crawford doesn’t let him find that rhythm.
Agree for the most part. Cotto's best chance is for a KO early because Crawford tends to start slow.
Not sure how likely a possible KO for Cotto could happen due to him never quite having the elite guys seriously hurt.
I agree Crawford often starts slow but I could see him giving angles and controlling distance until he’s warmed up.
And to me, Cotto was kinda overrated by some in terms of boxing skills.
Wilder needs to bring a consistent jab. Which would at least allow him to neutralize some of what Fury does. Not just look to catch him with the right hand.
The first fight, Fury was coming off the lay-off. Second time around, Fury clearly was able to do more during his preparation and his body, and his game plan showed this.
Wilder needs to be at his normal weight, jab, and setup his right. He can’t outbox Fury but he can do some things to offset his rhythm by consistently jabbing.
Jacobs is not really entitled to an opinion on the 168lber champs since he elected to ride in the clown car with Chavez Jr
This is a very good point. Jacobs may be compromised having made 160 for so long. He should've moved up a while ago. Not sure Jacobs gets anything done at 168.
I can see all the titleholders beating him.
DAZN feels they need this fight. I don’t think fans need it though. Canelo beats him very clearly the third time around.
Why? Simply because Gennady can’t stop him inside the distance.
