What an absolute joke.
Want to see the winner unify with Adames?
Want to see the winner take on Terence Crawford?
Too bad, because the IBF says Ammo Williams gets the next shot.

IBF rules say that unifications take priority over mandos, so nothing would stop the winner from fighting Adames next, if that fight could be made.
And if you think there is ANY chance of Bud fighting the Zhanibek-Lara winner, then you need your head examined.
Then its just their ranking system, I mean even on here we know who the top 5 fighters in divisions really are and they should be the same for every sanctioning body with special placement for number 1s or undisputed champions if they move to a different class but that would make sense, can't have that.
have you seen the rankings? 13 divisions are "trash", including middleweight. there are no 8 good and worthy boxers to fill 4 beltholder and 4 mandatory slots. after 3 middleweight champion, we have yoenli (good and deserving wba mandatory), chris eubank (who doesn't want a title shot because beltholders are unknown to him and they don't command a high enough purse) and everybody else is on ammo's level or worse.

these are the best at middleweight (plus lara who is absent because of inactivity), not some imaginary all time greats.
What an absolute joke.

It doesn't change anything. Winner can fight ammo in April. Then Bud or Adames in the fall

The problem for them is that, since they can't be fooling around like the other alphabet soups, and they have to enforce their own rules, some promoters wouldn't let their boxers fight for the IBF if it is not on their agenda. Ex, they ordered Mbilli vs Pacheco, I think Diego's handlers declined, don't remember who Mbilli ended up fighting, I know they ordered Iglesias vs Shiskin, and now the Cuban is the mandatory for Bud after knocking out the russian, do you think Bud is going to defend the belt against Iglesias?
Weird system, what is the benefit of this for the IBF? wouldn't they make more money off of an undisputed champion since they get a small % of the purse split?
They would make more money, but they will be as crooked as their counterpart, and the US government has an eye on them since their founder and president, Bob Lee, got busted
years ago, along with his friend Bob Arum.
Because Williams looked horrible in his last fight and got stopped in his step up fight against Sheeraz, who himself got whooped badly and gifted a draw against Adames.
The focus should be on undisputed at 160, not wasting time giving undeserving challengers a shot.
Fortunately, the IBF is the only org. That follows its own rules. Unfortunately, some crooked promoters don't let their prizefighters fight for their belt unless it fits their agenda, especially if the division has a killer waiting for his turn.
time to pull a Top Soviet Bivol
win the belts to become undisputed then toss the stoopid itch to the side of the road when she demands inconvenient mandos
Why not?
