How many fighters at 5'9 have this kind of reach? Seems like he gets serious leverage on punches on the outside that most of his opponents expect to just graze them - massive advantage he has, even Mayweather who was known for his big reach advantage for his height is eclipsed by this abnormal reach. I'm sure this is higher than the average middleweight and even super middleweight reach.
Crawford’s u usually long reach, when combined with his skill set, athleticism and ring IQ make him IMO a right with Roy and Floyd as the best since Leonard.similar body type as Floyd
average height with unusually long reaches
this is an ideal frame for boxing
it has the range advantage but still good inside long arms protecting a shorter torso

That’s why I don’t equate greatness with boxers having size and reach advantages, especially when they resort to running tactics in the ring. True greatness is shown by fighters who, despite being undersized and out-reached, take control, dictate the pace, and push the fight forward.
As someone who is 5'9" with a 74 inch reach, I approve of this post. I've always said one of Mayweather's greatest gifts is his reach, and bud has it too. Yeas, speed and timing are more important, but reach should not be overlooked for a lot of different fighters.

Arm length is the WORST possible measurement. Boxers don't stand square face to face and throw arm punches like robotic drones. They stand at angles where the measurement across your back fist-to-fist becomes highly relevant. The original poster's point is spot on.
Gee thanks, but I genuinely haven't been on here in that long. No matter what angle you stand at, the length of your arm is the same. As a measurement, it's more indicative how far you can extend your fist from the body. Not to mention it's not measured with fingers extended, which is completely useless. I do agree that angle and head position make a difference tho.
Callum Smith had a 78 inch reach when he was at 168lbs which quite frankly is near heavyweight measurements but still arguably lost to Ryder and then to Canelo. Obviously reach alone is an advantage but when combined with ability you have a great fighter.

u pop up with a one or two or a handful of posts a year but ill tell u what they are worth waiting for
That reach has always been his main physical asset. He was built like Mayweather. Freakishly long reach.
He had a frame like a middleweight, but was fighting guys much smaller.
I take reach measurements with a grain of salt. Almost everyone's reach is similar to their height. If not it would be very noticeable if their arms hung down to their knees, or if their back was disproportionately wide. Arm pit to the end of the first is a better way to measure.
