I have to ask the question.
I remember when he was cracking Billy Joes skull with a single shot, and he had this monster power.
Now he can't even get the respect of a small boned 140lb fighter, Crawford even said Canelo doesn't hit very hard at all and Canelo DID land clean on him more than once.
Where is the power, we need to know?
Canelo's power was always overrated to begin with. He was knocking out smaller fighters and washed fighters. He never knocked out a legit healthy prime fighter.
remember bivol withstood beters shots who is a big puncher and bivol says canelo does hit hard with his single shots but id say his power is on the wane but bivol and bud are solid guys who can take a shot
Bivol also said that Canelo was only a hard puncher when he wound up to throw the punch.
Bud put Canelos power in a box like Ali did Foreman, like Ali did Liston, like Leonard did Haglers, and didn’t let him open it until after the fight lol…
Crawford is not a small boned 140 pound fighter. His walking around weight is well over 180 pounds. He was draining himself down over 30 pounds to make 147.
Canelo wasn't a big one-punch KO artist. He set up his punches with combinations. Still, we have to question how much his PED use helped him win fights in the past.
I’ve wondered the same thing about Canelo’s power. Back when he fought Billy Joe Saunders, every punch looked like it carried a ton of weight, but lately, it feels like guys are walking through his shots. Part of it could be age, wear and tear, or just fighting naturally bigger, fresher opponents who can absorb more. Crawford’s comment about not feeling much power surprised me, though. I even came across a discussion on https://cnn.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html where fans debated this exact issue, it seems we’re all searching for answers.
Honestly, Canelo only KOs people who aren't on his level. As soon as he steps up then he meets guys who can handle his power.
Yeah its exactly this. Canelo's MO is to fight guys at a lower technical level than himself so he looks good. when he faces opponents who who are a bit more technical he struggles.
yet ggg was perfectly fine and totally prime when he faced canelo, bud is older than canelo etc, doesnt really make sense but then again canelo fans dont often make sense
Taking nothing away from Crawford btw, I knew he was going to win hence why I placed the bets and won.
I thought that version of Canelo was avg vs GGG in 1/2, the best I saw IMO was with Caleb Plant/BJS/Kovalev. .
i think that was more down to the quality of opponent

Re-fix my spelling: Btw, I called it, saying Bud was going to beat Canelo. Even placed a double bet on it and won. **

I think the 2021 version of Canelo vs Caleb Plant would've gave Crawford troubles. Too bad that was 4 years ago and Canelo isn't the same.

I thought I saw a stat that Canelo had dropped 4 of the last 5 opponents prior to Crawford?
Ryder, Munguia, Charlo, Berlanga,
I guess Crawford chin is just getting better as he moves up.
Crawford also has the added advantage of being WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than all of those guys. Possibly combined.
Canelo's power is a MYTH! He never had power - he loads up and swings huge shots. He does not have single shot power or natural power. Any fighter who fully loads up putting there entire body weight into a shot will generate power, just like when Bruno Surace KO'd Munguia despite only having 5 previous KO's. Canelo's problem is he KO'd an old & tired Kovalev and there after believed his own hype that he was a power puncher.
Guys like Inoue, Bam and Beterbiev are natural power punchers - everything they throw is heavy including jabs. Definitely not Canelo
I seen videos of Nel o hitting bags and I never felt he looked like he hit hard. He's not scaring me, whereas I remember a flip hrgovic hitting bag and he seemed hard hitter.
he can still knock down guy like langa and mungi but they get KO'ed by others seems like now, he just cant hurt better guys probably
It is about the quality, that's why he refused to fight any good technical fighter in their prime. His experience with them was not good, Floyd(and he was past his prime), Lara, Bivol, even GGG and remember he took drugs for his ggg fights and got help from the judges, after waiting out GGG. He was never a ko artist, and he is a good fighter but levels down from an elite one. The proof was always in the pudding, but he builds a following, and they run with it. Hi fans have the most ridiculous excuses for him
