I understand 9 years ago is a very long time, and he comes in at 240lb in his earlier years compared to now with his weight. These days he fights around 254lb+
Do you think this version of AJ could've beaten DDD on the night, or DDD will always have his number in terms of style-wise matchup?

Wow, that's actually a great idea.
You think that wouldn't ruin things with Fury, tho, :lol1:?
Yes, it would be a conflict of interest for a future fight with Fury, but it would be perfect in preparation for DDD.
I think we all know a prime Wlad would've beaten AJ easily, he was 41 in the fight with AJ... waaaay past it, but still gave a good contest!
Wlad had a few bad days at the office too. More than Joshua, in fact.
Same guy. Joshua hasn't deteriorated so much as his chin has been found out.
He's a massive talent! Don't get me wrong.
But he lacks only world class whiskers, and that can have big consequences.
This generation's Floyd Patterson
I'm not sure he can. In the first fight Dubois had much better fundamentals and frankly outclassed him from start to finish. Apart from AJ landing a hail Mary right before getting wiped out I don't think he really had any success. Even that for me was just thrown out of sheer desperation.
I sure didn't think it going in but Dubois looked to know AJs style, strengths and weaknesses inside out. Anything AJ even tried Dubois anticipated and immediately shut it down even with the one big shot AJ landed, he responded in kind right after.
His style is too amateurish. I know he was gifted an olympic gold medal and he is a two-time I believe HW champion and has all this experience but he just isn't a polished fighter, like at all, very novice like.
The main reason I am no longer sure any version of AJ, even the one in the video beats Dubois is his jab or lack of, it is a set up and a set up only for a right hand he telegraphs and often leaves himself off-balance throwing, he doesn't even follow it up with the left hook to put himself back on balance he just clunkily tries running away whilst bolt upright with his chin high which is very dangerous. He doesn't and frankly never did use his jab as a weapon. I think that is a huge problem against an aggressor with a very hard, educated ramrod jab. I see nothing he possesses to neutralise or to match it.
I think the fight will always be largely dictated by Dubois having a much better jab
Why you being a boring twat? If you don't like it, don't post in the thread? We are all well AWARE he lost his fight Dubois, are you 12 years old?
I'm just playing alternatives from then till now and if "AJ" came in like this, would've he won against Dubois?
No, I'm not 12 yo I probably triple your age. Maybe if you play the Dubois vs AJ video game he can win. Why don't you ask what he can do in his next fight to win the fight? Or if he can find a way to show up for the fight with a better version of himself. I think you're the boring and immature guy here.
Why you guys bring soo many hipótesis is beyond understanding. He lost the fight, why go back 9 years and is not going to solve nothing.

against wlad he got up off the canvas to win. but ever since ruiz 1 he will get flustered against top level opponents. also he has gotten sloppy, hes stop using some of the defensive techniques he used in his earlier days, with the long guard. i seen a breakdown video of it somewhere. you seen how sloppy he was when he rushed in after dubois and got KTFO from a counter. he was supposed to be the superior boxer hes not supposed to be getting countered by dubois but there it was
Brain fog or CTE? Considering the guy has been in so many fkn wars tbh. If you look at his resume!! It's hella crazy
I certainly always say that AJ's got a wack chin & stamina issues.
He's more talented than DDD, but the most talented fighter doesn't always win in a fight.
Yeh I'm questioning what I know and thought now. Is Josh more talented when all people do is criticised Josh abilities? Well I guess Josh has a gold medal, so on that basis might be seen as the talent

Bad style matchup for AJ.
AJ was lucky to have beaten Wlad. If Wlad had more of a killer instinct he’d have knocked AJ out. He wasn’t aggressive enough in those rounds where AJ was pretty much there to be taken out.
Props to AJ though, he won the fight and showed great grit and determination.
AJ just isn’t that good. I’ve said it from day 1. He’s too mechanical, not skilled good enough to box on the outside like Wlad/Lennox/Fury unless he’s against a plodder.
Not durable (or fit) enough to fight in midrange against guys top guys who can punch.
Hes an overachiever

Dubois has never lost. He was 8-1 up on one card vs Joyce and only 'lost' due to saving his eye, he would have won that fight easily normally. Then he knocked Usyk out with a body shot, so that's fight over. His best win was against the Great Jarrel Miller. Nash out - His Excellency

Not me. I predicted a Dubois win. Joshua fights too hesitant and Big Doobie can whack . That was my main reason for picking Double D. That scared , hesitant style of Joshuas always leads to a guy getting hit because it's an unnatural way to fight. He's going to bite on and overreact to every feint and he's going to be too tight and jumpy. That leads to getting cracked. I don't think that he will ever rematch Big Doobie because the result will be the same.
Also when he bites on the feint, he just puts up a leaky guard which lets you tee off on him. When he moves out of range he goes back in a straight line with his hands down which is open season for DDD who is happy to throw 3, 4, 5 bombs moving forward.
Why didn't people see it like this before the fight?
All I read from the wannabes experts in this site was" flip hit ddd all night, and Josh hits harder than flip. Goodnight ddd"
I certainly always say that AJ's got a wack chin & stamina issues.

Lennox Lewis had a suspect chin, too, but the late, great Emmanuel Steward taught him how to be first while protecting his chin. Same with Wladimir Klitschko. AJ needs to get with Sugar Hill.
Wow, that's actually a great idea.

This right here.
AJ's a more skilled fighter than Dubois, but Dubois would always be a problem for AJ because of AJ's flawed chin.

I had it as a pickem really. I said if Josh wins itd be just about his best win. And I also noted ddd wins recently was better than anything Josh did in same time period
I was shocked by how Dubois was the sharper and more polished of the two in their first matchup
If I were AJ I would slim down and hone in on Dubois’ tendency to eat right hands
