He’s beaten some great names but all of which have been past their best IMO.
Still a truly elite fighter and top 5 P4P on my list but I do think his timing has been perfect both in and outside the ring.
I’d like to see him fight the Ioka-Martinez winner next.
I've wanted to see Ioka v Estrada for years now. People love to give Estrada props, and he's a great fighter who makes for great fights, Saturday night being no exception, but he's only ever fought one unification AFAIK. That's a big strike against him in my book. He should have fought Ioka and Inoue both by now IMO.
Yes, Ioka has always had the short end of the stick.
Ioka made a big offer to Estrada, but was declined.
I think Ioka knows he was much better, so did Estrada.
Seriously underrated. He’s got at least 2 big fights left on his career. Lets hope we get to see him fight Bam.
I think Ioka is by far the strongest opponent at 115. Franco fights similar to Bam, and Ioka easily outboxed him. Bam is ultra aggressive, and Ioka is a slick counter puncher.
But overall Bam’s physicality might be too much.

Oh I see you just want to pretend like Bam is the only one veating older guys. So you don"t want any other boxer being mebtioned.
No the thread is about Bam, not Canelo or Fury. Take your weird obsessions elsewhere.

Why do you seem offended at the TS pointing out that Bam's wins, whilst very good, weren't in their prime?
Is it not self explanatory?
I didn’t realise Fury was relevant to the discussion either.

It is very obvious... Every one of his top wins was ranked highly at the time of the fight by all the independent organizations. Cuadras was Ring #6 going into their fight. Sor Rungvisai was #1. Estrada was Ring champ. Sunny was #1, and still in his prime. None of them were viewed to be past their prime until they got schooled by Bam.
In fact, if you look at the ages of the world champions these days, you'll find the great majority to be in their 30's. Two of the best in the world are 37.
There's no "biological fact". The evidence clearly shows that all of the champs he beat are still in the range that the overwhelming majority of champions are in. You're simply seeking to devalue his accomplishments, and it's even more disingenuous considering how rare it is for two fighters to be in perfect condition at the arbitrary peak of their prime at the time of fight. Someone is always sick, injured, a few years too old or too young, etc. There are virtually NO fights for any of the greats in which their best wins don't get shat upon by petty people like you. There's ALWAYS excuses about how some guy wasn't at his best so it's not that great.
It's even more ****** considering Bam isn't even in HIS physical prime yet. He's a 24 year old kid who's still growing into his man strength. People still talk about how Canelo was too green at 23 with 43 wins to fight Mayweather. But you're here trying to discredit Bam for winning his signature fights? Right place at the right time? He had the balls to fight Cuadras two divisions up on 10 days notice when he'd not even fought for a regional title yet, and you want to say he just got lucky and Cuadras was washed?
You couldn't even put a single name down to beat Estrada. You copped out with "oh, there's several". Name one. You probably can't because, as you've said in the past, you don't follow the little guys. The amount of BS here is astonishing.
They blatantly were. Cuadras was on a real skid had lost his last four meaningful fights to Gonzalez, Estrada, Arroyo and then was stopped by Estrada in a rematch. He’d looked poor in close fights with sub-par opposition too.
SSR had lost to Estrada and looked like sh** against Ruenroeng, he was unquestionably past his best.
Estrada was very lucky to get a decision against Gonzalez, looked below par against Cortes and then managed to edge Gonzalez before remaining inactive way over a year due to recurring injury problems. Again, had clearly seen better days.
I’d give Ioka, Martinez, Tanaka and probably a few of the less established guys a decent shot of beating Estrada. I don’t think any of them beat him as impressively as Bam did though.
I think it’s clear who doesn’t follow these weight classes.
It's definitely a little bit of right place right time so i do agree with the op but he's clearly very talented also, not his fault that the top guys were older, he's beat the top guys so you can't do anymore than that.

Ehh, not really true.
Most of them were viewed past prime. Probably just Edwards who wasn’t.
Doesn’t mean they aren’t top wins, they are. But they certainly weren’t in their prime.

Ok but what is your point still?
All guys in the past did the same. Young future stars fight and beat older over the hill guys with the name value.
Klitchko was in his prime when Fury beat him or something?

I think his point is quite clear, Bam has a good resume but it looks better on paper, which is true.
He’s beat elite fighters, but none were in their prime. Pretty straight forward.
I actually think the Estrada that lost to Bam would've lost to any of the other 115 champs that night if done with unbiased judging, and was literally a ripe for picking target. People forget to consider the almost 20 month long vacation in the wrong side of 30 in the lower divisions coupled with the rather nice gifts he's received against Choco and Cortes the last few years. The difference is that the judges couldn't save Estrada from being KOed, but they certainly were trying their best seeing the scoring leading up.
By the way I think Bam > Ioka/Martinez/Tanaka > Estrada in 2024 so if the other three (or two once Ioka/Martinez unifies) don't flee then 2025 could be the first 115 undisputed champion.
Estrada is ripe for picking, I think several guys at 115 have a good shot at beating him.
There’s no bias, it’s a biological fact, his best wins in terms of name value have come against once great champions now past their prime.
They’re still very good wins and as I said in the OP which you obviously lacked the coherency to read, he’s still a top 5 P4P guy IMO.
The entire point of the thread was just to highlight that Bam is seemingly the right guy in the right place at the right time. As he’s able to have meaningful fights against recognisable names early in his career.
Ok but what is your point still?

So who are you picking to beat Estrada at 115?
As the kids say, stop the cap.
Estrada is still more than good enough to beat most everyone at 115 except maybe Ioka, who is also an elder statesman compared to Bam. As are all the champions. Ioka is 35, Martinez is 32, Tanaka is 29. Estrada is only 34. Inoue is 31. Only Junto Nakatani is anywhere near Bam's age. He's just very young to possess such skill and maturity.
This is just more transparent bias from people who previously have said they don't even watch the lower divisions.
At the time Bam fought these guys, they were universally considered the top of the division to the point that they were doing a mini 4 person tournament to decide the final king. This crap about them being washed up only started after Bam upset the apple cart. People do the same thing with Inoue, Crawford, Usyk, Fury, etc, and have done so with every successful champion. Let's see your own resumes, eh?
History will remember Bam Rodriguez. He's already likely a first ballot HOF with this run. And unless you really DKSAB, the skills speak for themselves. If you can't acknowledge what he's accomplished, that says more about you than it does about Bam.

This argument would have more weight if Bam was near the end of his career and in his thirties.
He’s a 24 yr old who is taking out the old guard. Whilst making his way to the top. This is something the previous greats have done so as well.

guys like canelo/floyd etc...wait until the right time to fight guys even though they have the power to make the fight at any time. bam did not have any power to make estrada fight him a couple years ago since estrada was the a-side. he didnt wait until rungvisai was older, he fought him in his first title defense, and he only won the title by stepping in on short notice. he took advantage of opportunities to get big names, while other guys squandered them purposefully so

BAM wants all the smoke and fights anybody at the 1st opportunity .................Hands down one of the best resumes in the sport and only in 20 fights, hell he was calling out the winner of Fernando Martinez and Kazuto Ioka after the fight ...No talk to my promoter BS , kid is a gamedog ..
Whilst I don’t disagre, most people have better resumes on paper.
Look at Mayweather’s resume for example. Great resume, but on paper it’s much better than it is in reality. Same for Pacquaio. Even Muhammad Ali.
