Yeah but after the fight he did his 'good small man schtick', and 'Usyk won because of the war', no class at all. Should be happy that he is still alive.
What Fury did has nothing to do with what the referee did. Fury's ego was hurt so he came up with an excuse after all he has been saying...middle weight, little man, rabbit, dosser, etc. Did you notice the press conference? Fury ain't even sure he will take the rematch. Others would say they want it tomorrow.
I believe Usyk won the fight 115 - 112 because I have it 7 rounds for Usyk and 5 for Fury plus the knock down.
Isn't that the very reason referees intervene? So that boxers do not wake up in the hospital.
The only argument is should the referee have waived off the fight or given a standing count? If the referee thought Fury could no longer continue, he would be justified to waive it off. But Fury did continue and was in total senses and able to protect himself, so referee did the right thing. Also, referees do give some leverage to champions or in big fights.

Also want to point out the slow count. The announcement of "1" to "8", it actually took 10 seconds. Could well have been counted out. Any fanboys who don't believe me go and time it.
At the brink of receiving some staggering left hands, Fury got saved by the ref, was already down 2 times but held up by the ropes.

Not only that, but the idiotic OP doesn't even seem to realize that he's saying that Fury should have had a knockdown called even earlier when he stumbled into the ropes, thus saving him from a couple more punches that hurt him more.
Nothing but rocket scientists in this section.
Thing with Fury is that he is so unorthodox and does so many weird things, that when he falls into the ropes you can't be 100% sure if he does it on purpose or not. In the first round he willingly backed himself in a corner. He should be happy that he is still alive after that 9th.
Same to this genius. If you're falling from a punch and the ropes/corner are the only thing that keep you up, the ref will deliver a standing 8 count. Boxing 101.
You would think that on a boxing website these posters would know the rules atleast a tiny bit. But these idiots are all over the web complaining about this.
Congrats, you didn't disprove my point, and only solidified it. Fury was held up but the ropes multiple times and should have been given counts multiple times. Only time that he stepped in to save him was when he saw that fury was slumped in the corner and about hit the canvas.

Who are you ?

So about 5-6 knockdowns should have been called, since fury was bouncing around on the ropes like a damn pinball. He was slumping in the corner, and as usyk was going to deliver the finishing left hand, the ref pulled him away and saved fury.

you do realize the ropes holding you up is a knock down right? So the ref called a legit knocked down after not stepping in earlier when he technically should have?
Ref saved his life, but Fury claiming after the fight that Usyk won because of the war had left me a bad taste in my mouth.
