This is Benavidez' shortest route to a title if Canelo won't fight him. And Gvodzyk, albeit true that he's faded, still has a better resume than Morrell. And I'm one of the ones who thinks Morrell is the goods. Of course Alvarez doesn't need that. He's WBO champ, so he could have had an immediate title shot vs Beterbiev any time he wanted. And if he seriously pursued that fight, people would be way more on board than what he's currently doing. Problem for Morrell is that he's fought better competition than most guys and is clearly trying to fast track his career, but the top guys flat won't fight him, making exactly the kind of excuses you are making for them. If he stays active, which is the best option for him, people just say he's bashing bums, even if some of those bums were undefeated contenders and Olympic medalists. And the actual bums don't really want to fight him for the paycheck because he puts guys in comas. How exactly is Morrell being ducked? Good fighter but not being ducked. Any top fighter takes a fight with him and beats him they will say he didn't have experience or was still unproven.
