Roberto Duran vs Thomas Hearns rematch or Thomas Hearns vs Marvin Hagler rematch (who do you think would've been more likely to win their rematch)? | BoxingScene Community
I'm not saying either losers from the first fight are favorites going into the rematch, nor am I saying that's what anybody else contributing to the poll has to feel either. Rather, that if the rematches happened, who do you think is more likely to put up a better fight? Both guys got knocked out inside 3 rounds. However, Roberto Duran has the better combination of power + durability whilst Hearns has always had a questionable chin despite his power. So if not anything but for a puncher's chance, I believe Duran would have been more likely to beat Hearns in a potential rematch than Hearns against Hagler because Hagler's chin was good enough to absorb whatever Hearns could dish out but not vice versa. Because of this, the only way Hearns could win is via decision but he can't do that against a Hagler who is pressing forward like in the first fight. Whereas in exchanges, Duran had a pretty good chance of getting the knockout!
Pretty easily ?
The third round hearns was gassed but go and watch the second round again ...if it were scored today it was pretty even and I'd even give the edge to hearns with the sharp clean punches it's just haglers punches looked more effective because of hearns tall stature and the fact he was coming on strong at the end of the round
Hearns easily won the first two minutes of the second round
Anyways point being it was called the "war" for a reason and goes down as one of the best fights ever recorded because of the sheer damage each inflicted on each other
Nothing was easy about the fight was the point I was making
Either way I voted for Hearns on the poll if it makes you feel better because I think we can both agree the Duran fight was a blitzkrieg?
Hagler won the 2nd and 3rd rounds pretty easily.

Hearns was destroyed "easily"?
Hagler definetly felt a lot of pain in that 3 rounds he just had the will to see the job through
That 3 rounds were far from easy

Neither both got destroyed pretty easily however Tommy did land some good shots on MMH.

I think neither have much of a shot.
Despite their successes at the weights and even higher neither were really elite at those weight classes compared to the lower ones they fought in.
I’d say out there though Hearns would have more of a shot with Hagler.
Duran could never beat Hearns former LW that comes forward, Hearns will always blast that style, Tommy would have more of shot by boxing smart against Hagler, best way to beat Hagler is to be cute and lull him to sleep, you fight him he will probably KO you.
