He was doing a similar job to Parker against Wilder until he decided to stand there smiling like a goofball and got smoked.
But in all seriousness where do you rank Ortiz in this generation of heavyweights.
If only it were that simple, as it totally depends on the contract offered and the one signed with your promoter.
I can only imagine the A-side b.s promoters try on and manage to put over other opponents.
Sounds like Ortiz was badly mismanaged and probably lost a few bouts on purpose.
- - All modern Cubans are badly managed and trained.
That said, Ortiz in the first fight had Deyonce swooning in faerieland only to have the ref interfere so he could recover, a rigged fight.
...so let’s get this right if you are with a different company and a fighter such as AJ offers you a contract which you decline and fight another fighter in your stables for a third of the amount and only 1 belt as opposed to 3 that is not considered ducking in your eyes?

It’s insane wilder built his rep off this guy lol
Who was Ortiz signed to at the time ?
Ortiz had 2 fights under match room and in one of the stunk the place out. Nobody was calling for that fight. I am of the opinion though that he was a dangerous fighter especially back then but Ortiz never won anything as an amateur and didn’t win anything as a professional. He lost basically every major fight he was involved in. He is very chinny and I make that observation not based on Wilder because any fighter would go to sleep if wilder cracks you. I believe boxingscene and Ortiz himself gave the moniker boogeyman. He is just a skilful ponderous old man that could never really take a punch from any heavy hitting heavyweight.

He was always cannon fodder for Wilder. They don't want to live with the reality Haymon pulled the plug on the 7 million for Ortiz and Kownacki (they didn't think the Swede would beat him because he was being fatten for Wilder also with his big Polish following). It was always about building Wilder's profile to make him 50/50 vs AJ. Couldn't have AJ stop the old man on BP medications.
I can hear them now. Ruiz beat AJ. AJ made the mistake of rushing in on a guy he thought was hurt and got caught with a template shot. Last I checked, Ortiz doesn't have Ruiz's hand speed which is an issue with any heavyweight who closes the distance on him.
Agree with what you say about AJ-Ruiz
AJ made a stupid tactical mistake and got caught with a temple shot which effectively ended the fight.
I do think that he learned the lesson a bit wrong though, it really shook his confidence more than I think it needed to, the mistake he made was really obvious and easily corrected but it turned him very gunshy for years although he seems to have developed a bit more of a fuck it attitude now which is good.
I remember when they said AJ offered a fight, that was not an offer, they mentioned his that's all, and Whyte, I'll have read a little bit more about that, he did waste time and I'm pretty sure wasn't his fault. They take advantage of people that don't speak English all the time, and ruiz went through a lot of punishment to beat the old man, prime for prime my money is on King Kong.
I think they understood the multi million dollar offer from Joshua.
Jesus, do we still have people dumb enough to believe AJ ducked him.
could have had a mandatory shot back in 2017 but pissed hot and got himself removed from the rankings.
Then later got offered a career high pay day and his team got caught lying about being lowballed.
Theres even evidence that points towards him possibly being to blame for the Whyte fight not happening.
He skated by for years by being the boogeyman that passed the eye test.

He was old and likely didn't want to take unnecessary risks that could knock him down the ladder. At least he tried twice vs Wilder.
yes exactly but the problem was while he was not taking any risks he was calling everyone out and saying everyone is ducking me so he looked tough and stayed relevant, but the truth is he already had his career mapped out for him, fight bums and continue winning, wait for a wilder fight. he did that which is fine but now we have to judge him based on what he did, not based on fantasy power. wins over jennings and martin? decent but not really impressive. thats why i use the ggg comparison. ggg was actually fighting highly ranked guys, signing to fight highly ranked guys like pirog, lee, etc...making other guys like saunders, quillin, etc...million dollar offers. all this while waiting for canelocotto/martinez to stop ducking him.ortiz was doing none of that but running his mouth while waiting for wilder who wasnt even the best in the division. just the pbc champ
sorry lol. just because someone says sometihng doesnt make it true and ortiz talked big, but he didnt take any fights that were offered or offer anyone any fights. he was not ducked in a serious manner. he had huge power behind him with pbc and didnt do anything with it. some guys maybe didnt go out of there way to fight him but he also made sure not to go out of his way to fight anyone good. other pbc guys made sure to take fights, he didnt so you cant even blame pbc completely.

Damn, that's cold bro, comparing my post to Trump's BS. I'm at a loss for words.

ortiz's team admitted they were offered the fight and made a mistake by not accepting it so im not sure what you mean by saying it wasnt an offer? ortiz was all talk. when he was offered fights out came the excuses. im not ready! its never ortiz's fault! its always someone elses fault! he would always talk big when guys had fights scheduled...when they tried to fight him oh wait wait i cant fight! he was full of hot air literally and figuratively and his resume reflects that. he clearly was only interested in doing what the pbc had planned for him. if haymon took advantage of him then yeah i wouldnt be surprised. he does that all the time but he doesnt get a pass for beign tricked. i feel bad for him and maybve he really thought people were duckign him who knows, reality is he wasted his career linking with pbc
effective propaganda. trump won the election type of stuff
Have you wait, just propaganda, on a guy that came from Cuba already spent hos better days in the amateurs.
whyte offered him a fight. ortiz said i wont be ready...then he fought on the same date that was offered. joshua offered him a fight. he had the backing of pbc and pbc made 0 offers to contenders. they wanted to sit him down and save him for wilder. they didnt want him wandering off and possibly losing to others. he was content with that plan. he could have pursued mandatories, took the offers, made offers, etc...if he wanted to get certain guys in the ring...he didnt do that/he got busted for ped's and lost his status. i dont know why some people have such reverence for the guy. andy ruiz jr is a much better fighter, has a much better resume ,took more chances, etc...and he was a pbc guy. he just didnt have the propaganda push ortiz had. thats the only difference. it was definitively going to be an uphill battle for ortiz to get fights but he made damn sure he didnt get any with his actions. guys like ruiz struck when they could.

Ortiz was dangerous, but he was just too old. Few wanted that smoke when he still had some life in him.

You can't force people to fight, back then nobody wanted to share a ring with Ortiz, same with Sanchez. He has offered his service a few times stating he would take short money. No answer.
you keep saying this in the face of all the evidence that says otherwise. you are just repeating team ortiz propaganda. thats the image they wanted to portray publicly. ortiz will fight anyone! it wasnt true...not even in the slightest. you know how the pbc protects their guys and some guys are perfectly fine with that. ortiz was one of those guys that accepted the pbc plan for him. guys like ruiz made sure to make fights that they watned. guys like ortiz made sure fights didnt happen. stop trying to revise history and say ortiz was hard done. he wasnt. he was happy to fade into the background and wait for a fight with wilder. guys like ruiz said im going to jump at the opportunity to get good fights. guys like jacobs did the same. ortiz said no im sticking with the plan pbc has for me and that was not to take any risks.
What guys? He spend most of his career sitting down or figting whoever wanted to fight him. Similar to Rigondeaux that nobody with a name want anything to do with him. And now we have another Cuban in the same situation, thank God this Cuban defected younger than those two.

Sanchez is doing the same mistake Ortiz did. he is wasting his contender years fighting nobodies. Ajagba was a very solid win, but Sanchez should have stepped up already. I believe he is better than this.
