This is a question probably more geared toward the historians here, so it might be in the wrong section, but I'm trying to look in the past for fighters who couldn't get a KO for the life of them, but then suddenly started knocking guys out.
I think Devin has gone about four years without a KO. Are there any current or historical fighters that have gone years without a KO, then move up and start knocking guys out?
I've gone through as many boxers as I can think of, and I can't find a single one. The only guys who've done that were getting KO's at the lower weight class before moving up.
Edit: Check out what Bradley has to say about this fight

Crawford and canelo already mentioned.
Pacquaio's first run at 147, yeah he had power at the lower weights but the way he carried it to 147, I would say demonstrates an INCREASE in power since hes now knocking out larger dudes and he was still an accumulation punchers at the lower weights
Yeah. Manny. Everyone always feared Manny's speed and power. He did seem to do better as he moved out, but like the others, there was something to work with. He already had that "pop" in his punches.
I suppose we can just assume that it's possible Devin will be punching harder but not necessarily knocking people out. It's like Sunny Edwards moving up an then becoming some KO artist. It just doesn't happen.
Crawford on that "good protein" he was going the distance against smaller guys then stops everyone at 147...... hahahha yea sure.
Trey Shaw, every single post you make on this website is made with racist motives. No exceptions.
Admit it. Every regular poster here knows it. You are the alt of the banned poster Trey Shaw and you’ve been banned here many times for making racist posts. You NEVER deny this. Must be a reason for that.
Haney cant punch out a wet paper bag, they are nuts he wont stop regis
I hear you and believe them in saying they’re going to KO Haney. Part of me thinks that they gained an overdose of confidence from fighting Loma. Youngin’ seems like he’s feeling invisible right now! They good be great or terrible tomorrow.
Yeah. I'm trying to think of someone who was considered feather fisted at a weight class, then moved up and was stopping guys. So far, the guys mentioned were stopping guys at the lower weight class. Like Smith stopped Groves, which was a good stoppage. Groves is tough. I'm really struggling to think of someone, but the Haney's seems to be absolutely confidence that Haney's going to stop Regis. However, I remember they were saying the same thing about JoJo Diaz. Bill was saying, "The KO is coming, the KO is coming." After every round. lol

Miguel cotto....for whatever reason he was a banger at 140, lost his power and chin from 47-54, and started back putting people in their ass at 60...
Floyd caught a rude awakening from a cotto who he thought was a chinny quitter..cotto is an example on how weight helps some of these guys
Cotto was on queer street at 140 from torres and his chin got a lot better at 147, I think it was the weight cut. Foreman had a granite chin when he was old and fat but not when he was younger, weird.
I dont think cottos power increased at 160 though, he only had 3 fights at >154, stoppage of geale who wasnt any good and sergio whose knees were fuked that fight, came in wearing knee supports and whobbling around, cant move out of the way of punches, he had no business coming into the fight with injured knees like that and milked the fans and cashed out.
Crawford used to mix in a decision win now and then at 135. At 140 he knocked out almost everyone. At 147 nobody goes the distance with Bud.
Crawford is a roid cheat confirmed

Best example I can think of. Canelo's power at 168 is noticeably better than it was at 154 also.
An interesting topic is fighters who didn't think they could beat their opponent but went onto win? Of course there are upsets, and underdogs win. Buster Douglas was underdog who beat tyson but Buster probably thought he'd best Tyson even if no-one thought he would. So that don't count.

Cotto!! Yeah. That's one. Malinaggi swears that he was taking gear to get that power to carry. But I think he pretty much stopped everyone other than Malignaggi and Mosley. Didn't he? He was someone known for having heavy hands, wasn't he?
Yeah. Canelo is definitely one. But I always thought of Canelo as being a heavy hitter throughout his career. He's been dropping guys as far back as I can remember.
Khan would agree...
Callum's power has definitely carried up. He's a big guy and is probably better suited to 175 anyway.
I haven't gone line by line through his fights, but in my head Canelo is as big if not a bigger puncher at 168 than he was at 160.
