I saw this today and found it extremely disappointing. Dan Rafael posted twee and said Andre Ward lost to Kovalev. I'm not sure why he posted that but, honestly, who cares what Dan Rafael thinks. That man always has strange takes on boxing matches. Sometimes he's right, and sometimes he's wrong. But for whatever reason, Andre Ward decided that he'd reply to Rafael in the most triggered way possible.
Andre Ward decided to make it racial and talk about black supremacy, and for me, anyone who talks about racial supremacy over another race is flat out, point blank, a racist. And that's really disappointing because I liked Ward. I think there's a good argument that he got lucky with both of his fights against Kovalev, but that's not a reason to get upset and make it racial.
If you want to see what this is all about, I suggest you watch the video, but for me, Andre Ward is done. Definitely not buying his book. I can't support that.
would that be entertaining to you? let me tell you, the only time i've punched someone in the face and had them cry after, it was a negro. your race is soft. which is why you guys always need to pull the race card. i love seeing the look on negros faces when i tell them they're 2nd class citizens and that they should be thankful that white people brought them into slavery so they don't have to live in the ****hole that is africa today. you should thank me baw.
So you admit you’ve been in one fight your whole life, and you’re lying anyway.
Look, all you’ve shown in this thread from post #1 to this one is that you have some form of mental disease. You claim your demeanor isn’t friendly, and you’re admitting you’re a racist little 5’3” Asian. Sounds like you’re depressed.
Anyone reading will just feel bad for you.
I’m part Black.
So you’re telling me you go up to black people and be racist towards them when you see them in person?
You’re telling me this cowardly racist behavior you’ve been displaying since 2008 is not exclusive to the internet?
Nobody believes you. I’d like to see that

friendly definitely does not describe my demeanor with anyone. just because you're afraid of black people it doesn't mean everyone else is

I respectfully disagree. There are people to this day, that believe both Cotto and Oscar were robbed and won against Floyd. Thats why I named them. They think because the two of them were active that the fight was a robbery.
i've seen people say it about the de la hoya fight but never about the cotto fight. the cotto fight was good though. i've watched that one a bunch
floyd vs oscar and cotto are terrible examples. those guys won like 6-7 rounds between the two of them

I literally named several fights and what did you do? Ignore each example. I provided it all. You didn’t even show how i didn’t give a good example

This is some terrible race-baiting. This is seen as a far greater robbery than any other fight you've listed, probably recognised as one of the greatest robberies of all time. Not sure you're providing much understanding, grace or nuance here to be quite honest with you, because you can't even provide a particularly good example.

Yes, until they’re in your face. Then you’re all smiles and friendly

i do remember a nard interview before his kov fight where he said something along the lines of kov being another stiff robot who he will do a job on, there probably is a bit of a racial thing going on with these comments actually but its also probably playing up on boxing stereotypes, something like ill never lose to a white boy thing, boxing trash talk mixed in too, works all ways as well
I took it as the type being primarily defensive fighters that a lot of people considered boring based on the guys that he mentioned.Andre doesn't have a history of making racial comments and he strikes me as a guy who is aware of his position and need to measure his words. He's a media guy now.
I agree. That's why I was shocked. But in response to what you're saying, why put "type" in quotations. When anyone puts a word in quotations, it means you need to take that word to mean something different than what is typically associated with it. If he wanted to say "defensive fighters, then why not just say defensive fighters will always beat the kind of fighters you like." But he didn't do that, and as Rexy pointed out, in context, it wouldn't make too much sense. Kovalev was a boxer-puncher with good defense, who came up through the amateurs just like Ward.
It just seems very strange to me.
Most people took it that way. What other way do you think people should take it?

Just because you take it a certain way doesn't mean that everyone else does or has to agree with you. People tend to see what they want to see in situations like this when words are ambiguous.

Unless Ward is an absolute idiot and has no social awareness, then that's not the case. Everyone is going to take it a certain way, and because Ward is NOT an idiot, he definitely didn't mean "fighting styles." Like I said, in the words of Deontay Wilder, "don't have to explain what is understood."

These conversations require a lot of understanding, grace and nuance which I don’t believe people care to give. Usually when black boxers fight and the match was close or competitive? If the black boxer wins the decision is deemed a robbery.
Sergey vs Andre.
Floyd Vs Castillo.
Floyd vs Oscar.
Floyd vs Cotto
Floyd vs Maidana
Tank vs Cruz
Devin vs Loma
Yet when Chavez vs Whitaker is a draw or Joe vs Bernard is a win for Joe? These aren’t seen as robberies. It just is what it is.
Floyd face Castillo twenty plus years ago. People still bring it up as a way to make it seem as if his career wasn’t special or his record wasn’t legitimate. So it’s the same reoccurring theme people notice and speak up on.
Remember when Bernard beat Kelly? How much tension was in the air, it was because that dynamic of white vs black. So the gripe will always be, why is there an issue when a black boxer faces someone of another so called race and you aren’t given benefit of the doubt for winning without there needing to be this long winded spiel as to why you cheated or your win isn’t valid?
