I respectfully disagree. There are people to this day, that believe both Cotto and Oscar were robbed and won against Floyd. Thats why I named them. They think because the two of them were active that the fight was a robbery. i've seen people say it about the de la hoya fight but never about the cotto fight. the cotto fight was good though. i've watched that one a bunch

When anyone puts a word in quotations, it means you need to take that word to mean something different than what is typically associated with it. If he wanted to say "defensive fighters, then why not just say defensive fighters will always beat the kind of fighters you like." But he didn't do that, and as Rexy pointed out, in context, it wouldn't make too much sense. Kovalev was a boxer-puncher with good defense, who came up through the amateurs just like Ward. It just seems very strange to me.

Just because you take it a certain way doesn't mean that everyone else does or has to agree with you. People tend to see what they want to see in situations like this when words are ambiguous. Most people took it that way. What other way do you think people should take it?

Unless Ward is an absolute idiot and has no social awareness, then that's not the case. Everyone is going to take it a certain way, and because Ward is NOT an idiot, he definitely didn't mean "fighting styles." Like I said, in the words of Deontay Wilder, "don't have to explain what is understood." Just because you take it a certain way doesn't mean that everyone else does or has to agree with you. People tend to see what they want to see in situations like this when words are ambiguous.
