He is actually a better boxer than I thought and imo a better pure boxer than his dad.
Everyone knows that I didn’t liked his dad. I thought that there were some guys that he could’ve fought that he didn’t. What made my hate even more great was when Kostya lost to Cool Vince Phillips, he didn’t ask for a rematch. There are certain situations in boxing where you have to do the rematch. And there are certain situations where you don’t. Fury Wilder, Mosley Forrest, Norris Brown, Toney McCallum all had to do rematches. I kept it basic because you all know that rematches happen for a reason. The other guy was real competitive and in some cases beat the champion.
Yes it is a risk but Kostya didn’t take that risk and was severely penalized in boxing history by me. Severely. There’s levels to this and Pryor and Chavez clearly rank above him at 140-clearly.
Tim can actually box. He has good power, but not like his dad. He can throw the hook, he’s fixing the right hand, he goes to the body and uses the jab. What I’ve noticed after the Mendoza fight is that he takes a decent shot, but what I like about him is his vision. He sees everything coming. Not a lot of boxers have that good vision coming forward. That shows that he has decent defense and is looking to counter while you’re throwing your shots. He actually looked good last night.
My criticisms of him were that he wasn’t doing enough body punching and that he had to straighten out his right hand because he was looping and winging it. The jab will take him a long way.
So what do I need to see from him in the future? Can he take a real good body shot. Last night he got hit with a glancing body shot from Mendoza and complained it was low, but he still stood strong after the shot, got back into the mix and used his strength, back the guy up and then turned his man into the ropes. So he got over the shot. Now I want to see how he takes those shots in a war with someone just as aggressive as him and in a fire fight.
Have to disagree with you here.
NFL, MLB, NBA, Soccer etc., those are all little kid's games you play and have fun with.
Can't play Boxing, these are warriors. Anybody that steps into the ring puts their life on the line. All it takes is that one punch at the right time and it's over, dead.
Definitely more warrior like than those you mentioned but “no”. They’re not really risking their life. Doubt any of those boxers would get in much less try to ride a 1 ton, mean, nasty, pissed off bull. Now that’s fooken scary.
That’s actually risking your life and I love boxing.

Tim actually has very little to no defense at all. Al Bernstein said it best during the broadcast, if you caught it, that Tim's "offense is his defense." But I understood your analysis, just making a little clarification.
Tszyu reminds me of a terminator, he's got like a hunter-stalker style going on there, he hunts his opponents down, figures them out and breaks them down. Tim's a very good, smart fighter, he just needs to work on his jab a little more.
Boxing is suppose to be fun. It’s just a GAME. It’s not a discussion about abortion, death penalty or politics.
Don’t take it so seriously.

Who doesnt outbox Mendoza, Tim showed how green he is, TC or Charlo would have set Brian up and got him out of there, Tim didn't know how and was over-cautious about getting caught, so then you had two punchers counter-boxing making an average fight, Tim is improving each fight but he isn't beating TC or Charlo.

You've lost me……
I still think he can be outboxed because of his footwork issues but I'm not sure there is anyone at 154 that has the tools, discipline, and durability to pull it off right now.
He should use his jab more while pressuring but he has improved a lot since I first saw him.
He’s still wings his right hand at times. But he has good balance. Doesn’t have big power, but it’s decent. Pretty good defense. He’s come a long way.

I dunno. He has pretty quick feet.
Not the speed, the actual footwork. He does the back foot first thing which leaves him squared. Canelo does it too, which is why Bivol had so much success. He kept attacking on the lift of the back foot and Canelo would be squared and off balance.
