I am not very high, something like Canelo. My weight was about 150 when I was 13 years old. It was about 170 when I was 17-18.
Now I am over 40, I am not fat and I am around 180. I would have to cut both legs of to make 154.
I don`t understand how grown men, bigger than me, "make" weight around 147 -160.
The smallest weight limit I could "make" would be a light heavy limit around 175.
Train and diet to be 100% all muscle with no excess BS internal fat, be slightly dry and this is when you see big guys be so light, go look at a pit bull that's in shape and its a lot of dog for under 50lbs.
That's not really my point
my point is that it's not that difficult to become successful as a flyweight if you're that size because there's so few men that size. like I said, I could walk around my city all day probably seen one or two men that weigh 115 pounds and 5'3".
there's only 29 professional male flyweight boxers in USA, that's not even one for every state, that's how rare is to find a man of that size. so if you are a man that is the size of a 12 year old girl and decide to become a professional boxer in the flyweight division, you might automatically be number one in your state.
no disrespect to these midgets but it's much easier to become a successful flyweight boxer than it is to become a successful middleweight boxer, purely based on the fact there so few of them because they are basically a freak show.
Roll back the clock 100 years and these midgets would be fighting in a tent in a travelling circus but for some reason we've decided it's a good idea to make it into a real sport for them.
in my opinion , anything under featherweight should be put on a bill somewhere else with wheelchair boxing or something
But the thing is little guys learn boxing for self defence, and being small and insecure little guys really learn the trade, probably make the best trainers. So the standard is probably higher in lower weights.
That's why little guys can step up weight and beat bigger guys.
When I think likes of Hamed, Rogondeaux, Donaire, Inoue, Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales etc have all campaigned below featherweight, I'm glad the lower weight classes exist.
You either race horses or you box if you are below 135 for pro sports.
Maybe they could combine two sports, outlawing anyone above 135 pounds and DQ'ing anyone who hurts an animal. The rest is fair game. They race with whips and the jockeys can legally hit each other with it. Or kick the other man. The Arabs can promote this game of " combat racing." My money is on dirty Sanchez to win in the 5th. But don't forget about the camel jockeys winning the occasional race. You can get long odds on them. What do you think?

That’s why I don’t care about under 160 lb weight classes
you are either a genetic subhuman
or a crack baby
there’s 0 chance you would be a healthy baby and be under 160 lbs and under 5’10 as a grown adult.
It’s like these people are handicapped.
I don’t watch midget wrestling for a reason. It’s cruel to find entertainment in subhumans torturing each other.

You are fat and out of shape.
These men are in boxing shape and work to cut weight.
Most of the guys at 147-154lbs walk around out of shape at 180lbs+
You would be surprised at the little mans speed and skill as he's bouncing his gloved fists off of your skull.
And amazed at how tough the sport is once you turn pro.

You should consider your own weight, if you suddenly lost enough fat to be about 6-7 % bodyfat and then lost about 10% of your remaining body weight to dehydration.
Most lose about 20 lbs from what they compete over the course of weeks.
I've said this before but being in the shape that you see on fight night is not one that you can maintain for long. If you weigh 180 and you are in very good shape as you say then you could more than likely make 160 at a minimum.
Training for speed and endurance will naturally force you to not hold as much muscle mass. Couple that with strict dieting and you are going to start entering unhealthy levels of being lean. That's why I say the shape you see them on during fight week is not one that they can maintain for more than a week. Most will gain that 20 lbs back over two to three weeks just by not dieting and working out as much.
Because they're just small men.
I mean look at flyweights and bantamweights, they're grown men the size of a 13 year old girl :lol1: how many men do you see in public like that? Almost never. You could walk around all day and maybe see 1 or 2.
That's why it's probably very easy for flyweight to have success as a boxer, because there's so few adult men that size, so if you're that big and take up boxing, you'll probably become well known
How many sports cater for men the size of little girls? It's really boxing and horse racing.
It's much harder to have success as a fighter around 168 than is flyweights who are basically a tiny minority of midgets.
The average USA female is 170 pounds! Now they are mostly over weight. The average american male weight 197.6 pounds. That is over wight too.
Flyweights, bantam weight and featherweights are what I refer to " fighting horse jockeys. " No man, in shape or out of shape should this weight. Maybe one of 1,000 men I know are.
IMO boxing need to consolidate its lower wight classes. Make them below 115 lbs, 122 lbs and 135 lbs. That is it. No ludicrous super or jr division below 147.
Have you ever been in top shape before?
The fat boys walking around at 200+lbs will weigh 150 or so once leaned out and in prime shape.

Man, again, I am not fat.
Are you convincing me all guys can make 150 if they are in shape?
Canelo is as high as me, but he is about 10+ years younger. can he make 150?
If I was 5-6 years younger, I would probably make 168 weight limit by rehydration.
Because you are a most likely the typical sloppy 180lbs... try training like a fighter and you will be 146lbs by December 4th. All that macho water you carry is useless once you start to train like a boxer. Facts..
Man, the last time I was 146 lbs was when I was 14 years old.
You guys have frames and bones like teenagers or what?
My most aggressive "healthy" cut puts me somewhere in the 175 range. Which means I could probably hit 168 if I really drained myself, MAYBE 160. And I'm taller than most fighters. But I walk around at about 185-ish and have a fairly controlled diet to begin with.
IF you're walking around at 180 and don't think you can make 170, there's something wrong.
Bone density, muscle mass and diet. If you're a shorter guy, it's quite normal to be in the 150-lb range if you take of yourself.
Man, I would be a half dead if I rehydrate to 150 or less.
Crawford walks around at 175+. He makes 147. Crawford would probably look bigger standing right next to you at his walk around weight considering he's all muscle.
Because they're just small men.

The average man has less than 160 lbs of muscle on their body if they got down to single digit body fat percentage. Most would be around 140-150 lbs.

You fail to understand a couple points. First height and body fat percentage. Every inch that you are higher you're likely to be about 7 lbs heavier. To give an example, A guy who is 5 7 147 lbs at 6 percent body fat just has less excess fat on him. 5 7 at 147 is the equivalent of 6 feet 190. Also a guy could be 180 lbs but have a very high body fat percentage. If he strips his fat off, he could be 150 lbs.
