I'm guessing Spence intentionally delayed the decision for a month to prevent Bud from signing into another fight.
You guys think he exercises the rematch clause tonight?
I’m not saying the rematch is going to sell. I agree with you that people have lost interest myself included. I’m saying if I were Spence I wouldn’t care about that I have a contract for a rematch. It’s somebody else’s job to worry about trying to sell the fight.
He doesn’t necessarily have a contract he has a contractual option. He isn’t tied to the rematch or anything like that.
Thurman ain’t getting anywhere near that. He only got $2.5m against Pacquiao and that’s when he had a belt and 0 to sell.
Spence-Crawford did around 650k buys per the reports, so the rematch does what? 500k max? Meanwhile Spence has generally done around 300k buys even against lesser names like Ugas, the Thurman fight likely hits that number. It’s by far the better business move.
Spence looking impressive up at 154 helps sell the rematch too because nobody with a brain could believe Spence has any chance in that rematch after he was utterly dominated by Crawford.

I didn't suggest Bud was fighting avenesyan again. I said that fight came out of nowhere, meaning just because everyone is saying Bud is fighting Charlo and Spence doesn't mean that's his next fight, it could be anyone. he might take a Thurman fight
Told you so, Errol activated his rematch clause.
I don't think the rematch happens at all if it doesn't happen next. Crawford will, or at least should, be seeking out either Charlo or the Tszyu/Mendoza winner.
Yeah Crawford vs Jermell is the fight to make next.

Thurmans going to want like 10 million dollars that he doesn’t deserve and he hasn’t fought in years. So what ever Crawford Spence rematch does it has to do more than that. And if I were Spence I wouldn’t care about any of that crap because I have a contract. Everyone else can worry about selling the fight. At 33 going on 43 there’s no guarantee Crawford would fight him down the line. I would cash in now or retire. Maybe go down to Australia and do a big stadium fight against Tim Tszyu and get a bag that way.

How many buys do you think the rematch does? Like 500k at most I reckon, the intrigue is no longer there after how one sided the fight was.
Spence vs Thurman probably does 250-350k and Spence will be getting the lions share of the split.

Even this shopworn version of Keith beats Spence.
Spence never had a chin, that's why he feasted on little guys moving up for so long.
Spence has eaten clean shots off Brook, Porter, Danny. His chin is solid. I think he’d stop Thurman.
He will probably come back next spring at the earliest or summer after a long break. He needs to let his mind and body heal after such traumatizing beating.
He should move on from Crawford and continue at 154.
His team will (rightfully) steer him in an alternate direction.
Thurman at 154 I reckon, rebuild some confidence.

I don't think he's taking the rematch. He'd rather take one year off. This is PBC. Fighters are acculturated by this part-time boxing system they have in the house.
According to this site, he has activated the rematch

Money wise that fight is a huge drop off and a hard sell. Plus Thurman is going to want a lot of money he doesn’t deserve. I agree Crawford is the superior fighter and a lot of the interest has died down. But the man has a contract and that’s a lot of money to leave on the table. Unless he wants to retire I couldn’t leave that kind of money on the table.

He can make good money elsewhere, they’ll sell the Thurman fight as a grudge match and it’ll probably sell quite well and assuming Spence wins you can still make the Crawford rematch down the line- not that I have much interest in it tbh. Crawford is the superior fighter, case closed.

TC is fighting Errol in a rematch, other than that its Charlo/Canelo , TC is too big headed now for a Avenesyan fight, its only big ones now.
