Can I admit that some of those body shots were borderline yes! However, Low? Fuck no! Kovalev mentally checked outta that fight the moment that Dre began to get too rough and physical with Sergey Kovalev on the inside.
Those body punches were starting to hurt and take its toll on Sergei. Which subsequently forced him to surrender and quit by waving the white flag.
We'll never know how the fight would have played out if Weeks hadn't stopped the fight, instead of warning Ward for hitting low. I'm not just going to assume the fight was a forgone conclusion. I get that you like Ward but it's clear as fucking day that those shots were low. I've always wondered about Ward's sudden back marks on that night too, but that's a topic for another day.
It's been 6 years, you can admit the shots were low as ****.

You telling me those are clean but Dubois body shot isn't? Lol Where all the uproar from these illegal blows?
When a boxer showed he didn’t like body shots. I’d work his body. Too many boxers are head hunters and you can literally SEE they are soft in the belly.
YES, sometimes the blows go a little lower. So do fooken sit-up lazy fooks.
I did a thousand sit ups a day. I got hit clean on the belt line. NEVER BOTHERED ME. Only soft guys complain as well as casual boxers.
Ward hit very regularly borderline low. Personally I think he should have had 1 point take away.
People forget that those belt lines on boxers are GROIN PROTECTORS They also wear CUPS.
The narrative around it is ridiculous. Shot was low, ref called it low immediately after impact.
Body shots have a delayed reaction, in this case Usyk went down instantly.
Lol not all body shots have a delayed reaction.. Especially the ones in the mid section but nice try lol
I thought Dubois was a clean body shot. I'm just trying to remind people what they thought of those Ward body shots.. Cause I guarantee some posters here playing both sides lol
Some of Ward's shots were about where Dubois's was, but the ones that strayed low are what that piece of shit Weeks did nothing about.
Because it was not a boxing fight, it was political and we had to win contrary to what is going on in reality right now in which we and the Otan are getting our asses kicked.
This is the hurtful part about truth. Once the smoke is cleared and Son of Judges won and all the idiots gloat, even years later, we have the footage and see it for what it is. Ward was wining the fight but the low blow fest made Kovalev stop and then the buffet warrior waves the fight off and then in the moment, hey, he won! Yeah!
Years later, though, it's like, he won, but damn. He sure used those low blows to do it. Haha. Ward was such a dirty fighter. But he took advantage of the conditions at the time. What a great guy. And he even invokes God into his name. I'm sure God wants us all to cheat.
The revisionism reminds me of how in time Canelo fans went from “A draw is reasonable in the first fight” to “Canelo dominated all three fights.”
Yeah, these shots were much lower than Dubois'. It was surprising how many people said they were legit at the time, no bellybutton talk. To me, a lot of Ward's punches in that fight were far too low (some were on the line though) whereas Dubois' was on the beltline.
Ward wasn't Dqd because Kovalev quit. He kept turning and complaining to the referee about Ward's body punches that were legal. They were all borderline shots to the body which touched the belt line of his trunks. Similarly, to Dubois' punch he landed on Usyk's midsection right on the belt line of his trunks.
It's been 6 years, you can admit the shots were low as fuck.
Ward has been getting away with cheating his whole career, and it's a huge asterisk on his career. His fight against Bika was an antrocity full of cheating (from Bika too to be fair), he held onto Froch for his dear life, head butted and rabbit punched Kessler to open a huge cut over his eye, and definitely hit Kovalev directly in the nuts 3 times.

The usual suspects on here turbo posted defending Andre Fraud, about how it wasn't actually low, and how he was going to win anyway, because he landed a good punch beforehand :lol1:
Kovalev curled in a fetal position to protect his abs. The Ukraine dosser was standing upright and got the wind knock out of him unless you think his testicles are that high up.
Was beterbiev hitting low and rabbit punching or was it the guy curling up in fetal position? 3:10

He curdled up because he got hit in the balls repeatedly.
You Ward fans are one of the many reasons I can't stand that self righteous prick.
He was on his way to winning the fight but now we will never know how it would have went because he decided to, once again in his career, go the easy way and cheat.
Then he retired like a bytch.
Kovalev won the first fight by SD, and the second fight by DQ.
Ward is everything that's wrong with boxing. Glad he's gone.
I thought the Ward body shots were low, at least definitely much more south than the Dubois shot. Yes Kovalev was hunched over but you can only bend at the waist so that’s not really a physical aspect that changes anything except making it harder to really see. Kovalev was wilting and retreating, so it gave a bad impression. Though getting hit low with no calls can do that to you. I followed Ward since the start. Good fighter, but a part time fighter who rarely traveled far. I was rooting for him to comeback in the first Kovalev fight because that was a good emotional feeling but I still don’t think he deserved the win in that one. He clinched a lot. I guess it’s all about what you can get away with. That’s part of boxing. Even the unintentional headbutt cut rule is pretty ridiculous in a lot of ways.
