Why was Andre Ward no disqualified by the low blows against Kovalev??

Can I admit that some of those body shots were borderline yes! However, Low? Fuck no! Kovalev mentally checked outta that fight the moment that Dre began to get too rough and physical with Sergey Kovalev on the inside. Those body punches were starting to hurt and take its toll on Sergei. Which subsequently forced him to surrender and quit by waving the white flag. We'll never know how the fight would have played out if Weeks hadn't stopped the fight, instead of warning Ward for hitting low. I'm not just going to assume the fight was a forgone conclusion. I get that you like Ward but it's clear as fucking day that those shots were low. I've always wondered about Ward's sudden back marks on that night too, but that's a topic for another day.

You telling me those are clean but Dubois body shot isn't? Lol Where all the uproar from these illegal blows? When a boxer showed he didn’t like body shots. I’d work his body. Yeah, these shots were much lower than Dubois'. It was surprising how many people said they were legit at the time, no bellybutton talk. To me, a lot of Ward's punches in that fight were far too low (some were on the line though) whereas Dubois' was on the beltline.

Ward has been getting away with cheating his whole career, and it's a huge asterisk on his career. His fight against Bika was an antrocity full of cheating (from Bika too to be fair), he held onto Froch for his dear life, head butted and rabbit punched Kessler to open a huge cut over his eye, and definitely hit Kovalev directly in the nuts 3 times.

I thought the Ward body shots were low, at least definitely much more south than the Dubois shot. Yes Kovalev was hunched over but you can only bend at the waist so that’s not really a physical aspect that changes anything except making it harder to really see. Kovalev was wilting and retreating, so it gave a bad impression. Though getting hit low with no calls can do that to you. I followed Ward since the start. Good fighter, but a part time fighter who rarely traveled far. I was rooting for him to comeback in the first Kovalev fight because that was a good emotional feeling but I still don’t think he deserved the win in that one. He clinched a lot. I guess it’s all about what you can get away with. That’s part of boxing. Even the unintentional headbutt cut rule is pretty ridiculous in a lot of ways.
