Smaller guys dive off a cliff once they turn 30. It has to do with speed being the most important attribute in the smaller weight classes.
It has been a pleasure to see this phenom rise through the ranks. I remember when he destroyed Narvaez who was like 40-1 (lone decision loss to Donaire). He was only a 8-0 novice back then.
Thought it was a fluke win even. Didn't realize I was watching the beginning of an ATG. I feel honored.
With that said, he will be sparked cold by a some unknown within 2 years.
those guys aren't boxers.
damage accumulates
Inoue is barely taking damage. Pacquiao was beating top welterweights beyond 35 even with way more damage received. These guys are freak athletes, as long as they don't break their bodies it's highly possible
Inoue is a lot more fresh and his defense will make him last longer.
What I mean is that Inoue has more reliance on speed and reflexes and explosiveness, which are early to fade, and when you're a speed and reflexes fighter, making someone miss by a hair and countering, then a fraction of a second of difference is the difference between getting hit or not, or landing your shot or no. I think that may be what happens to Shakur eventually if he tries to stick around too long, although by then he may well be crafty enough to make up for the slow down. Obviously Inoue has more tools in his toolbox but it's still a longevity concern.
But Donaire relies on timing and power and experience, and those are the last to go. I think Donaire may well become the first 4 time bantamweight champ in history in Saturday, and as ATG as Inoue is, it's hard to see his style lasting into his 40's, unless he really is a superhuman like Manny Pacquiao.
Yup. Look at how Donaire didn't win titles at 38 and 39, and won't do it again Saturday in his 40's... Those small guys can't do it long. Chocolatito got destroyed by the younger Martinez too. Oh wait...
Although Inoue's style is going to be more susceptible to age than Donaire's.

The trick to maintain performance in the middle 30s is to lose weight in a controlled way. CR7, Benzema and Modric all did that and it got them performing until 35 at least. That's probably what gave Donaire a resurgence. So Inoue needs to get to feather soon and then turn back before the extra weight slows him down

I dont know. He isnt fighting any bums. He will begin by fighting champions in every division he goes up to.
He might make a defense but he has the financial backing to get champs their biggest paydays in Japan.
I do agree This dude is on a run that we all should appreciate.
