Morrell has been very vocal and pushing for a fight with Benavidez.
After his last win, he called out Benavidez to the ring, David didn't respond, much less get into the ring to faceoff (which would hav been great!).
It is out of character to see Benavidez not respond when Morrell asked him to step up in the ring.
Benavidez has also been REALLY quiet lately.
Is he just enjoying the Plant victory and taking it easy? Will he accept a Morrell fight or back off and fight lower tier comp. next?
What do you think?
Yeah, that's one of my points in this whole chain.
Benavidez' best bet is to fight Morrell as opposed to wishing on a star to fight Canelo. He has to do something or he might just take a long layoff like most these fighters do.
This kid, andrade, has been waiting to land a canelo fight for almost 10 years, he's fighting every two years and taking no risk. He might get the fight now, out the 168 he's the less dangerous
He thinks he's at the gate for a canelo's show down. He definitely knows a Morrell Jr fight is not going to be easy, regardless what people think about the Cuban resume. By the same token, I don't think canelo is going to either one of them.

That's what I mentioned in the first post.
Morrell called Benavidez to the ring, Benavidez didn't respond, that is out of character for Benavidez. It can be after seeing Morrell's performance, he thought twice.

Jermell vs Morrell, um no LOL.
Totally different wiehgt classes man LOL
What weight class do you suppose Canelo fights in, ya know, that other bych Jermell was calling out?

He was at ringside fir Morell jr vs Falcao/tank vs ryan. I think Morrell Jr called him up to the ring. But I didn't see anything going on. One guy interviewed him and ask him about a possible fight against the Cuban. I couldn't hear what he said.

Maybe they are negotiating, and next time he say something is to announce the fight.
I am not so sure about that. We'll see.
I hope Benavidez isn't getting complacent with the Plant win.
We'll see what's next for Videz
High risk low reward for David.
He can move up to better things, he can just wait on Canelo fight, which will have to happen sooner or later. He can also move up to 175 and fight Bivol.
I don't think so, Benavidez is the type of guy who will not back down, but this time being so quiet is definitely out of character for him. Quite odd...

WHatever it is, Benavidez should respond as opposed to being so quiet.

Wholeheartedly agree. Idk why either. Maybe cause of their bad blood? Mightve got out of hand...

Do you think it is a bluff? Because not even 3 fights ago was a bluff. Shields just started to work with Morell jr, and said he thought the kid wasn't ready.

Hey, I’m not saying I don’t want to see this fight. Haha This is probably the one bout I’d like to see right now. Not only are these two studs similarly talented, but the motivation to win would be intense. I think it would be explosive.
Yeah, we'll see what happens next.
Good point, but still doesn't explain why Videz didn't respond to Morrell's callouts to step in the ring while Videz was ringside.
Fighters should step up to call uts especially when at the same venue.

It's one of the best alternatives for Videz.
Look at where Morrell is ranked.
Videz should call Morrell's bluff now and say let's do it.

Morrell has been calling out Benavidez ever since I can remember to the point of becoming an annoyance to the father and son team. Benavidez Sr finally had it and offered the fight months ago to Morrell, which is a fight they're 110% ready for because they've been inactive and desperate for fights at that time.
And what was Morrell's camp reaction? He's not ready yet and fought another guy.
And you're saying Benavidez should give them what they want when Morrell and his trainer basically snubbed them when they were offering the fight.
If you are offered a job which you applied for, but rejected it, would you have the nerve to come back later and say you made a mistake? Or would you be angry that they no longer want you?
Anyways, apparently, Benavidez Sr is the one deciding for his son's next fights. The son trains and fights, the father handles the business side.
Morell jr didn't snub benavidez, nor Shields. I think it was the first fight he worked was the kid, and he said he was not ready for benavidez three fights ago. He's on board now.
Good point.
But fight fans want to see fighters FIGHT.
I feel you though, this is exactly why fans stop following certain fighters, and get disappointed, alas Spence Bud

You may be right, but that’s not necessarily how Benavidez sees it. You have to look at it from his perspective. After all, it’s his career. People make choices all the time, some of them wrong. All I’m saying is that it’s very understandable why this young, talented kid would hold out hope for a life-changing money fight. In the face of that, it’s hard to make perfectly objective decisions.
Good point.
