This sport doesn`t give me true satisfaction any more.
I want Bivol -Beterbiev, Crawford -Spence, Canelo - Benavidez, Fury - Usyk, Joshua -Wilder..
I will probably get Beterbiev -Callum Smith, Bivol -Munguia, Canelo - Ryder ( this one for sure, lol), Fury -Wilder 4, Joshua -Whyte 2.
I am too old for that sh.it.
I can`t see top dogs in Fury and Usyk fighting each other or them fighting other top 10 contenders. It is frustrating.
I can`t even get heavyweight contenders fighting each other. Contenders are fighting no hopers, fringe contenders are fighting journeymen.
I love this sport, but too many pointless fights happen on elite level.
Boxing gets on my nerves. Nobody in boxing is powerful enough to get boxers to fight, boxers call the shots and if theyre demands arent met they dont fight.
Boxers dont fight as much as the olden days, plus they cherrypick also. Youd think if you are only fighting a quarter of the amount they fought in the past youd need to fight more tough opponents to make up for it.
Like FLoyd needed to fight THurman, Brook and Spence but didnt. Fury needs to stop messing around and fight Usyk, Josh, Joyce. Its hard but fury only fought 30 odd times. THat applies to Usyk also.
That's the double edged sword in combat. It's great that fighters make enough money and have some say in things, but it's also what lead to the decline of boxing. Right now in MMA there is a constant debate about fighter pay and their rights. But it's precisely because they are ruled by the UFC that they produce consistently great fights, the best fight the best, there are only a few weight classes like in old school boxing and only 1 title etc.
Everything that used to be great about boxing is alive in mixed martial arts. Boxing is only great for it's history to me, otherwise yearly I only watch less than a handful of matches live in today's era. The best fights just don't get made so F them.
Do it, become a casual. Seriously. You won't regret it by switching to MMA or another real combat sport where most of the best actually fight eachother. Boxing is still great the very rare few times they put on a real match, not a corrupted POS cherry pick because the best won't fight eachother untill they're both past their primes. I grew out of that crap a long time ago because it never changes.
There are no "good" fights just a bunch of bland fighters trying to get Mayweather money forgetting how he sold his fights to begin with. Look at Wilder, a career best curtain jerker got to be main eventer for a year before reverting to what he always was a journeyman with one punch.
LOL sure.....bro acts like he's so busy he cant spare 2 hrs to watch fights on a friday or saturday
They're not really "fights" if they're one sided and you already know the outcome.
And since we rarely get actual fights, best we can hope is a cherry pick gone wrong.
This is what he meant and this is what alot feel too.
if you only want to watch mega fights then boxing is trash and there is no need to follow it. there are other good and interesting fights though. it's enough for me because i follow several sports. i understand people who only follow boxing. what we get in recent years is not enough.
No, I wanna watch good fights. I don`t wanna watch sh.it like Canelo - Ryder for example or Wilder -Helenius.

I don't think the sport will miss you, Ive witnessed the ups and downs of boxing going on 60 yrs, nothing beats a great matchup in a boxing ring and they always keep coming, you cant have great all of the time otherwise great would be ordinary, enjoy the art of boxing instead of focusing on the only the main event.
I wish that every boxer should manage their own career and well make a contest on who has the most highest undefeated record. I think this will make boxing become interesting. I would love it.

I doubt I will stop following but I definitely miss a lot of cards these days, years back I was watching every hbo and showtime card.
Boxing hasn't been great overall for 5 or 6 years imo.
It was also much easier , with boxing being on only 4/5 networks
Predominantly on 3 HBO , Showtime and ESPN

And the best part of it all? It is NONSTOP the best facing the best, almost every month or two. Like, there is no one is scared to face someone or take a loss.
I have a thread
Why is losing once so horrible in the sport of boxing?

As crazy as it is, following the pandemic and being stuck in so much, I went down a rabbit hole for arm wrestling. You think boxing is niche, try that one. Who would of know there was so much technique and skill involved? I watched 1 video of the most popular arm wrestler on the planet, Devon Laratt and was immediately hooked.
The top level competitors in heavyweight are all hella entertaining. They post constantly on Youtube so you can follow and get to know them. And the best part of it all? It is NONSTOP the best facing the best, almost every month or two. Like, there is no one is scared to face someone or take a loss. I mean, the most damage they'll inflict is a potential broken arm/torn bicep or some other hand/arm injury, though it is mostly rare at the high level. It gives me great satisfaction to watch knowing, these guys can come back the next month and be right back at it. Not to mention, they seem to get better the older they are, rather than a sport like boxing where age only degrades you.
Just look up Devon Laratt highlights on youtube and then follow his channel. If he doesn't make you hooked to the sport, I don't know who would.
