Truth be told most were hoping he's the next generational natural talent that comes along like another Roy Jones Jr or a Mayweather but while last nights performance was pretty underwhelming are we judging him too harshly?
For me based on that I find he throws his right hand off balance way too much, was getting clipped by Karens overhand left and hooks way too easy, he wasn't cutting off the ring well, doesnt seem to have a 2nd gear i kept expecting him to step it up but it never came, stamina wasn't outstanding and he seemed to run out of ideas with his offence
But it's one fight against a guy who was a spoiler and maybe Boots just starting believing his own hype and didn't put the work in camp? Maybe it was just an off night and a bad style match up for him and he could be like a Tyson Fury type fighter who really turns it on in big fights
I don't think it's fair to judge him so much on one fight but that definitely wasn't proof hes the next big thing or that he can beat Spence/Crawford
No.
Like 30 fights or something and 6 years a pro and this is the first time he went 12.
When the best fight the best, many times it does go 12 and no knockout occurs.
It’s pretty alarming to me that this is your round 12 cherry gone. Tells you his opponents probably have not been the best.
Lack of experience in late rounds won’t work against Spence.
how can we be too hard on a fighter for talking about his flaws in his 7th year as a pro with 30 fights? Why is it our fault that in an era that most people finish their careers with 45-50 fights, he's already fought 60% of that and accomplished absolutely nothing? his fanbase has their head up his azz so far that most of them aren't even aware he's in his 7th year as a professional. I debated one of them about this on a panel until they actually googled it to see that he's been a professional for 6 goddamn years and done NOTHING. In 3 months, Ennis will have been a pro for 7 whole years. That's almost a decade. The last 20 years, you can't find a fighter that has squandered damn near a decade of their career doing nothing but waiting on a payday. Even Andrade won one of the many titles.
Some posters say he's managed by Dunkin, whoever the hell that guy is. Ennis fought 9x in one of those years, 7x in one, 5x in another, etc. It just seems to me this was a business padding records, skip the harder fights and head straight to the money fights. That's all it looks to me. Make it look like you're a veteran and ready for the big guys who at least did some heavy lifting.
He’s getting a bad rap cause of all the chit he talked about
Saying that he’s the best fighter out there
Saying he’ll beat Spence , Bud and how avoided he is
Then you got his old man , Bozy , criticizing everyone and anything
Only fair that people are chitting on him now
When your laying it out you gotta be willing to take on the chin also
It's hard to look good against an opponent with good defense that only wants to survive
Karen didn't even try to win, his only goal was to not get KTFO. Boots still won comfortably
this is the kind of fear Boots instills on his opponents, no wonder he's ducked by Crawford, Spence , Thurman and everyone else with a name
This would make sense if Karen wasn't actually landing punches too. haha. Yea he lost a lopsided decision, but did you want a man with no power to just stand and trade with someone he can't hurt?

Whatever criticism he gets is mild compared to other fighters. It is also justified. 31 fights with no notable opponents is just not something to brush aside. Just imagine a different fighter his apologists love to hate. He would have been toasted at 20th fight and made to account for every single one of them. Even the way he fought Karen. If that was the guy they hate we would have long running threads about not being able to cut the ring off..
Hard to look impressive against a guy entirely on his bike the entire night trying to just make it all 12. Boots should’ve had an answer for that by cutting the ring but he still win 10-11 rounds in a “lackluster” performance.
Well look at Inoues last fight, it was the same maybe even more of a running opponent yet for me I could still see the greatness in Inoue who got his man out of there, Ennis showed his footwork is a little slow and that's why he couldn't catch him man. But on saying that he needed this to bring him back to earth and shrink the head a little bit, still a very talented fighter and its a different fight if you stand in front of him, he was getting to much hype for beating cans, that might settle down now, right now I think Spence and TC beat him.
I already told myself I wasn't going to hold it against him if he had to go 12rds in the next couple fights because that's what he needed IMO, more live rounds.
I didn't care how it looked, I just wanted to see him get the rounds which he did.
Go back and work on some things and come back and look better next time.
Let's not kid ourselves. If this is GGG with that kind of record, we'll have hate threads every minute about him. In GGG's time there's not a lot of good options other than to move up. This Ennis fellow got lots of options, yet keep on cherry picking fights that are Clayton types.
not really, I think it comes with the Hype so if we're going to run around saying "He Can Beat Spence" "He Can Beat Boots" them yeah when people finally sit down and watch him they're expecting to see him be dynamic every fight but if you been watching boxing long enough and you're mature enough to act your age and can have an Adult Conversation about boxing without your ManFan/Fanboy feelings taking over, then you know that in Boxing and any giving night anything can happen and that also styles make fights. Some styles you look dynamic against, other styles you just won't ever look good against
Boots did not look bad, he just did not look as dominating as other fights but also too he was pushing for the Impressive KO and turned into the Brawler this fight just chasing a guy around for the KO when he should've boxed with him and went to the body more. He Did started catching him more and more down the stretch with some big shots but credit to Karen, showed a great Chin too on top of being able to MATCH Boots Athleticism, actually looked even more Athletic than Boots with some of his moments. Unfortunately Karen and very LUCKLY for Boots, Karen didn't have much Offense to go with that Slickness
I didnt like that boots swung wildly and missed and spun around at least 3 times. Looked amateurish. He needs more experience but hopefully now with that performance the top 3-5 guys wanna fight him.
thurmans bitch ass should step it up. Boots vs Ugas also good
I’ve said for a while he isn’t ready for Crawford or Spence. Immensely talented but he’s still raw. He needs some seasoning, it should have got it in 2022 but unfortunately he was inactive. I think he’ll learn a lot from last nights fight.
Just said on the podcast before the fight . Yes.
That or Mike Jones.
Chukhadzhian fought a brilliant fight.
What people are upset about is that Boots got exposed.
Good fighter, flawed. He's got work to do.
There is a huge gap between Mike Jones and Berto.
Berto is two time world champ, he made millions fighting. He was in some big fights.
Mike Jones was a top contender with Top rank, but Bailey finished his career. Jones never achieved anything.
If Ennis is next Berto, good for him.
