I loved watching him telling boxers like iron mike to "knock it off" and feel he was the most charismatic ref.
He was also a judge and had an afternoon legal show.
Lol... Reno don't need no political correctness. On his show Mill's tells a guy with a Yamuckle that he is so tight with money that the buffalo on a nickel squeals! :lol1:
wow yeah frank cappuchino i forgot him. he was great. i suppose mill's most memorable moment was ear bite and he says after "theres only so much you can do" or words to that effect. can i ask people here, did refs earn millions over their careers or was it modest pay. i always wonder how well paid refs are in sport especially the top guys. do boxing refs make millions. did mills make millions i wonder.
Would be interested to know too. Mills was at the very top of his game but was also an accomplished legal professional.
Not sure if he reffed for the money, fame or just because he loved the sport.
He was an accomplished man. His human body was paralyzed before he passed away but I have no doubt his soul "Side Straddle hopped" through those pearly gates!
Strokes are bloody hell...
He actually used to touch his nose and give a thumbs up as a sign of encouragement to one of his dearest friends, who was battling cancer.
really? thanks for telling me that because i always wondered. Thanks.

I didn't know he was a Marine! Does not suprise me. Well heaven is a little safer.

Richard Steele belongs among the best referees as well, in spite of a few bloopers.
I'd also include Frank Cappuccino and Steve Smoger.
Def Smoger and maybe Cappuccino.
This man represented USMC once a Marine always a Marine until he passed away. A cadence should be made about this man!

Not only was he, he was without ever trying to be. He was a natural. If yo ever gave Elmer Fudd some real cojanges he would sound like Mills Lane!
ill have to look them up as i dont know them yet. As a teen I loved when the toastmaster would say "referee Mills Lane" and he'd touch his nose. I used to think he was saying "I'm on speed so dont try it on at all" ha ha he always did that.
