Deontay Wilder is still a top 3 Heavyweight, AT LEAST!
Tyson Fury is obviously #1, but then what?
You rate Oleksandr Usyk at #2? Questionable, but okay.
But then who is #3? Anthony Joshua? He got embarrassingly exposed by a much smaller man? Deontay Wilder was humbled by the Gypsy King, but at least he went out on his shield, was a live dog until the end every time!
How the fook does AJ doing an Audley Harrison impression, against a man who fought at Middleweight in the Amateurs, rank higher than Wilder going down in a gunfight with the Gypsy King?
The answer is, it doesn't. And don't forget, AJ 'No Mas'ed against Andy Ruiz Jr.
1. Tyson Fury
2. Oleksander Usyk*
3. Deontay Wilder
I mean, his best win is old Ortiz?
Even Joe Joyce has better win in Parker.
Ok…..you didn’t answer my question. Who would he need to beat to win your approval?
Deontay Wilder is better than Anthony Joshua and he'll be remembered as such.
Wilder stopped every man he faced in a 12-year pro career except for one (Tyson Fury - but he dropped Fury four times in three fights).
Wilder was WBC Heavyweight Champion for five years.
Wilder made 10 successful WBC title defenses ... including one over Tyson Fury ... which puts Wilder fifth all-time with the most successful title defenses.
Wilder is one of the most successful defending heavyweight champions in history.
The garbage that Joshua has faced better fighters is just that - garbage. Tyson Fury would be the best opponent Joshua ever faced by a mile. Wlad wasn't better than Fury. Wilder successfully defended his WBC belt for the eighth time against Fury and floored him twice in that one. And if Wilder fights Ruiz next, about half of Joshua's title defenses will have come against guys Wilder also faced - Molina, Breazeale, Ruiz.
It's really not that much of a contest anymore. The wheels of the Joshua marketing machine have really come off, while Wilder's still blasting out guys and is scheduled to compete in eliminators.
Meanwhile, Hearn is trying to find someone Joshua can look good against to build up his confidence. Joshua knows he isn't as good as Fury or Usyk. So he's kind of lost.

- - Usyk hold all the titles that count, and he fought #1 AJ twice to get and keep them.
Flubber and Deyonce were boxing's low hanging, spoiling fruit. That's why they fought each other for peanuts while each ducking AJ riches twice or more.
Does U even follow boxing?
Josh won't get credit for beating man coming off 2 ko losses. But if your then saying wilder is favkurite, you better then give Josh credit for winning.
Is that too abstract thinking?
Deontay spent lockdowns being a conspiracy theorist about why Fury won
Yeah but recency bias definitely puts AJ in the cringe area after that Usyk thing. Wilder at least has gained respect for taking his two L's and coming back to box.

Cause they haven’t fought. My money is on Wilder.
People shouldn't rate wilder higher on basis of people knowing he hits hard enough to down Josh? Wilder has beat Ortiz. It's not fair to put him above Josh. Bloody best Ruiz first and then Josh. If not Josh, beat Joyce. If wilder beats Joyce I will rate wilder higher than josh.
You can't rate wilder higher, when josh wouldn't even get much credit for beating man coming off 2 KO losses. Wilder would-be seen as cherrypick
Better wins. Their losses don't mean much regarding their relative ranking imo because they're not against common opponents. Wilder might be better but he needs to prove it.
Wilder knows he's below Josh until he beats him. Today's society wants instant gratification. Why cant wilder and his fans wait until wilder beats Josh? It's like putting wilder above Josh so wilder don't need to fight Josh.
Like buds already been half paid to fight russian? You give dodgy builders money upfront they take money and run and never complete work
I rate fighters by who they beat, not by who beat them. Wilder has beaten nobody and had the snot beaten out of him twice by the only good opponent he ever faced. That's all I need to know.
I see a lot of posters using the resume argument and whilst I get it, is there really anyone on AJ’s resume that beats Wilder?
IMO… Wilder obliterates a 41 year old Klitschko. I know some posters rate that win but is beating a 41 year old, 18 month inactive fighter coming off a loss really that impressive.
He definitely ices the other old men like Povetkin and Pulev. He ices Ruiz and Parker. He decapitates Whyte.
On the flip side, does Joshua put Fury down 4 times in 3 fights? It’s not impossible but I highly doubt it. I also think in those losses Wilder showed more metal than Joshua ever has.
I wouldn’t say it’s definitive but I think the general consensus would be Fury, Usyk, Wilder as the top 3 at this very moment.
