Wilder is built exactly like a basketball player (he was one) 6'7", 215-220 lbs in peak shape, long limbs, athletic, fast twitch muscle. Yeah most NBA players can't fight for crap but if they started training boxing as kids/teens?
Maybe that's an untapped group to go after at least in the US as most ballers will never turn pro.

Why would it hurt? I simply just pointed out that you did even address what was being asked in the original post.....
In sure you could find a heavyweight cha mp amongst all those basketball and nfl players they're good athletes
Maybe some them could have been fighters, but to be a good one they have to take boxing path in the amateurs. Other wise they are reduced to being a side show freaks like Levon Bell who lost his " fight " in the ring vs a nobody. The last football player with some abitlty was Ed " too tall " Jones
I'm not saying a football guy cannot transition to boxing but I am saying he will have to give the game of football up and focus up boxing in his early 20's. Few take that path. They are all upper with fighters. I boxed a bit in my younger days. The gym had its share of guys who played football in college. The gym tray bin was full of their gum shields when they quit. I had my fill of boxing and I was smart enough to use my college degree and wasn't anything special but I was a as a legit heavyweight back in the day at 6'2" 220. I spared with some scary dudes who played if major college football programs. In general one they put gloves on they were just run in the mill talents. Basic stuff like throwing a jab and defense were foreign them. The trainer at the gym was a fellow named Mark Anthony who loved to work with their body type initially but gave up on them after 2 weeks. Digging for gold they called it. One secret on boxing which the average fans don't know. The little guys love sparring and contact. They are usually up for it. The heavyweights really don't like to anything like hard sparing. Well most of them don't after getting hit by big dudes most of which have more experience than they do who can blame them. This is the football player's reality. Heavyweight boxing is the same sport but it's a different animal. I think you have to do it to really understand it.

No. Boxing requires an extremely different skill set. Have you seen NBA players in fight  Speaking of assaults where one player decks another usually bigger player picks on a smaller skinny man, NBA head coach Steve Kerr called the incident where one player sucker punches another out cold no big deal he has seen it in practice 30 times. 30 times in practice! Holy cow. Could you image that how many times is occurs in the league?! Oh my. There is a big reason why media can't watch the practices most of the time.
Thugs r us, they are all getting paid millions of dollars. The NBA has a real problem with thuggery among it players. Touch the fans and your gone but street justice is fine as long as you are getting paid big money behind close doors. Rat a star player out and you are off the team and maybe the NBA. So just keep your mouth shut and take the punch.
Yes, really big black dudes could be boxers with the right skills and training.
That's the question right?
Wilder proves the same thing Joshua proved. The heavyweight pool is so shallow that you can take up the sport later and become a world champion.

Elite athlete but Nate Robinson hadn’t been in the NBA for years prior to the Jake Paul fight.
Jake Paul has been training in boxing for about 5 years. Nate Robinson is a basketball player that thought he could be on pure athleticism.
Basically, you didn't answer the question.

Kobe use to train at the Wildcard gym in the offseason. Freddie Roach once said if he started young he had the skill and footwork to be a world class boxer.
Nate Robinson is the reason boxing fans have to suffer Jake Paul

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it proof, but it’s at least some quality evidence that basketball type physiques would make for good knockout artists (maybe not necessarily good pure boxers).
He’s 6’7” and I’m not sure Wilder even played DI college basketball. Hardly an NBA body. I doubt at 19 he looked like he looks now. Everyone knows I love Wilder the boxer so I can’t be called a hater. But dudes 6’7” and can’t hit a jump shot for sht.
