We have been hearing boxing is dead for decades now even before Tyson and Mayweather. But is it really safe to say boxing is in trouble?
I have never seen so many fights people wanted to see fall apart with such rapid succession only to be replaced with mediocre fights no one asked for.
pacquioa/Spence, turns to pacquiao vs ugas(not a bad match up but nobody wanted to watch from a fan perspective)
canelo was to fight Benavidez/charlo but it turned to bivol /ggg 3.
spence/Crawford turned to I don’t even know the guy Crawford is fighting
Fury/Joshua turned to fury vs chisora
and I have a feeling tank/garcia is going to turn to tank vs mares and garcia vs some dazn fighter no one has heard of. It’s like boxing is going out it’s way to put it self out it’s misery.
is just boring to follow, 99 percent of the time you know whos going to win. ive said it before i find jake pauls career more interesting to follow than most these top level fighters, can call me a casual which is fine but i would rather watch paul v silva than crawford v avaynesyan or ryan garcia versus some bum at least you dont know whats going to happen
That is the key.
Top guys should fight top guys only. Fury - Usyk or Joshua -Fury would be interesting. Even Wilder -Joshua. You can`t be sure what is gonna happen.
Fury -Whyte was a crap, because it is not the same level.

Crawford is fighting David Avanesyan, he is a russian forklift driver at the russian home depots. Hes the guy they rely on when someone needs something from the top shelf
Promoters won’t like this because they have to split the money with other promoters. But that would be nice
Promoters can go suck a fat one they’re primary reason why this sport is so fu#ked.
The only barrier to being a boxing promoter, is money. So by default, all of these promoters are already rich to begin with. I say, fu#k em.
The answer is to put together more tournaments. Have a nice grand prize winning and have repercussions, like a heavy fine or a drop in rankings, for drop outs.
More tournaments.

We're getting pretty big matchups. The era is fine from that perspective. We just overrate past eras.
I think the problem boxing has now is that the bs is far more visible. They're all over YouTube. Fury isn't the first to take a weak fight - but he's doing it in an era where everyone in the world can see it and hear the criticism from his peers.
And the extra threat is that it's a sport where people get punched in the head. Most sports are trying to prevent head injury.
Boxing really can't afford to not be great in the modern world. It has to get better, not maintain it's poor standards.
boxing was much worse in the 19th century. it will never be as good as it was in the 1920s and 1930s when it was absolutely fantastic. 1940s were great too but not as great because of ww2. from 1950s boxing became gradually worse due to less activity and more belts. all these bad undesirable matchups wouldn't be a problem if boxers (champions, contenders and blue chip prospects) fought 5-10 times a year. that will never happen again let alone 45 fights a year with 10 wins over hofers. if not for the lower weights, i wouldn't even bother with boxing.

, a bigger reality is probably that Americas only really dominated the heavyweight division when the soviet types weren’t in pro boxing. Once those Eastern European heavyweights entered the game, they basically took over, that’s fact.
.
It's no coincidence America doesnt have a gold medal since andre ward, America was the best when the cubans and soviets didnt even compete, the moment Ressources were put into them, they dominated and still dominate.
Fury -Chisora is a garbage
Crawford -Avanesyan is a good fight, Avanesyan is top 10 by The Ring, but it is not Spence -Crawford
Canelo -Bivol has always been better than Canelo -Charlo
What do you guys see in Charlo???
Only in boxing you see clowns saying "what has this fighter done to earn the fight?", "this fighter is boring", when the fighter is an actual threat and either becomes a mandatory or is one of the top guys looking to unify belts with the fan favourite. This has been the narrative for promoters, fighters trying to keep their top spots and fanboys. If this plague disappears, we well see meaningful fights. You don't see this kind of crap in soccer, basketball, etc...
Boxing is a fragmented sport where there are greedy promoters, TV networks, dumb fanboys and diva fighters in the mix. It's the reason why boxing is not as big as other sports. There is fatigue and true fans who love the sport are sick of it.
Boxing is actually pretty decent these days. HW has the big 4 and there's several fighters with a potential of becoming atgs: Inoue, Haney (my current favorite), Spence OR Crawford, Fury, Usyk and maybe even Bivol, if he gets the match-ups.
the heavyweight division is weird to me. Like how do we not have a undisputed champion yet.

No, not in my lifetime. This is only forthe divisions above welter weight. Personally it takes a great fighter for me to watch any match below light weight. I respect what they do, but I have little in common with a sub 135 pound man, who mostly doesn't speak English. At least I don't know any man like this. Well maybe I do bit they don't speak good English either so its hard to get to know them outside of a waive and smile. However the I do know some women like this personally. They tend to be rather attractive and nice. You could say for women I'm a fan of the lower weights.
I'm not usually one for doom and gloom but the sh i t show that is furychisorathree makes you wonder. Maybe when the gyppo retires things will get better?
